Hilda L. Albertson

Belton, SC - Hilda Louise Hart Albertson, 74, widow of Frank Donald Albertson, passed away on Friday, July 17, 2015 at the Rainey Hospice House.

Born in Anderson, she was the daughter of the late Louis and Rosa Lee Partridge Hart. She was retired from A & T Textiles and attended Iva Pentecostal Holiness Church.

Survivors include her daughter, Sheila Albertson Fredericks and husband, Daniel of Belton; two grandchildren, Brian Fredericks and Holly Fredericks; sister, Kathy Richey and husband, Tony of Iva; niece, Kayla Sanders and husband, Chad; and a nephew, Jonathan Richey and wife, Kayla.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Terri Albertson and a sister, Janie Sue Hart.

Graveside services will be held at 3 p.m. Monday at New Silver Brook Cemetery conducted by Rev. Billy Pinson. The family will receive friends from 1 until 2:30 p.m. Monday at Sullivan-King Mortuary. The family is at the home of her daughter and son-in-law, Sheila and Daniel Fredericks, 128 Woodlake Drive, Belton.

Allie Mae Cole Cromer

Anderson, SC - Allie Mae Cole Cromer, beloved mother and grandmother, widow of Claude Eugene Cromer, of 2510 Whitehall Avenue, died peacefully at her home on Wednesday, July 15 at the age of 102.

Born May 23, 1913 in Townville, she was one of eight children of Andrew C. “Bub” and Emily Milford Cole. Known as “Mama Cromer” by family and friends alike, she was a member of Concord Baptist Church for 55 years and a member of Carrie Griffin Sunday School Class. She was a charter member of the Upstate Daylily Society, a member of the Garden Trail Garden Club and an Honorary Master Gardener. She was also a member of the American Hemerocallis Society. Her beautiful garden was loved and visited by flower lovers from all over the country. It was her passion and her joy to dig in the dirt and experience God’s amazing creation. She was retired from Appleton Mill and following retirement loved working at Davis Greenhouse for many years.

She is survived by two sons, Gene Cromer (Ruth)and Lamar Cromer (Peggy); two daughters, Ann Blair and Jill Helgeson (Bruce); nine granddaughters, Robin Gamble, Julie Graves, Anna Lollis, Susan Carson, Allyson Child, Amanda Vickery, Lisa Wilson, Marla Pietrowski, Shannon Smith, and one grandson, Kyah Hicks; eleven great grandchildren; five great-great grandchildren; and one sister, Joyce Skelton.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Elaine Chisman, son-in-law, Wayne Blair, and six siblings.

Funeral services will be held at 4 p.m. Saturday at Concord Baptist Church conducted by Dr. Don Cox and Rev. Bob Marcaurelle. Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 2 until 3:45 p.m. Saturday at the church. The family is at the residence.

Jean W. O’Barr

Anderson, SC - Jean Wilson O’Barr, 76, of 412 Blair Street, widow of Marion Horace O’Barr, died Thursday, July 9, 2015 at the Rainey Hospice House.

Born March 25, 1939 in Anderson, she was the daughter of the late Horace M. and Zadie Greer Wilson. She was a graduate of Anderson College, a homemaker and worked at WAIM for several years. Mrs. O’Barr was a member of Meadowbrook Baptist Church and previously was a longtime member of Concord Baptist Church.

Survivors include three sons, Marion Gregory O’Barr and wife, Janna of Monroeville, PA, Timothy Randolph O’Barr and Ryan Wilson O’Barr and wife, Dana of Anderson; and three grandchildren, Carly Christen O’Barr, Jonah Monroe O’Barr and Justin Martin O’Barr.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, H. Randolph Wilson.

Funeral services will be held at 12 Noon Saturday at Sullivan-King Mortuary Chapel conducted by Rev. Bob Marcaurelle. Burial will follow in New Silver Brook Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 10:30 until 11:45 a.m. Saturday at the mortuary. The family is at the residence.

Barry Stuart

Anderson, SC - Charles Barry Stuart, 66, passed away Sunday, July 5, 2015.

Born July 12, 1948 in Anderson, he was the son of the late Charles Lee and Betty Martin Stuart. He was a graduate of Erskine College and worked in the hardware business for many years. Mr. Stuart was a member of St. John’s United Methodist Church.

Survivors include two daughters, Anna Katherine Stuart and Elizabeth Cashion and husband, Chris; one son, Charles Benjamin Stuart and wife, Wendy, all of Anderson; and four grandchildren, Sophie Stuart, Brayden Stuart, Strother Cashion and Sims Cashion.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brothers, Rick Stuart and infant, Martin Lee Stuart.

Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at New Silver Brook Cemetery conducted by Rev. Dan Batson. The family will receive friends at the cemetery following the service.

Steve Hill

Anderson, SC - Robert Steven Hill, 66, died Wednesday, July 1, 2015, at AnMed Health Medical Center.

Steve was born in Anderson, SC, the son of the late Marshall and Frances Hill. Steve worked at the Anderson Rec center for many years and was a member of North Anderson Baptist Church. Steve loved people and enjoyed being with others. He loved the Church and most of all he loved Jesus. Steve loved his mother and now he is with her forever more.

Steve loved his family, especially his nieces and nephews, BJ, Parker, Jennifer, Samuel, Braiden and Alex and also his great nieces and nephews, Chord, Izzy, Emory, Luke, Lena and John Cole. Steve is survived by his brothers, Charley, Stan and Buck. 

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday at Sullivan-King Mortuary Chapel. Burial will follow at Old Silver Brook Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 9 until 10:15 a.m. Monday at the mortuary.

Marian Kay Parker

Pendleton, SC - Marian Kay Parker, 92, widow of Robert William Parker, died Tuesday, June 30, 2015 at Summit Hills in Spartanburg, SC.

Born in Anderson County, she was the daughter of the late Vernon H. and Louise Wolff Kay. She was a 1940 graduate of Anderson Girls High School. Mrs. Parker was retired from Clemson University, where she worked as a secretary, in the Forestry Department. She was a member of Pendleton United Methodist Church.

She is survived by a son, Pat Parker, and wife Dalene; grandson, Daniel Parker; granddaughter, Susanne Parker; brother, John Thomas Kay and wife Judy; nephew, Sammy Kay; nieces, Vikki Walters, Tomi Lussier, Angie Long, and Jan Register.

Funeral services will be held at 3 P.M. Sunday at Pendleton United Methodist Church conducted by Rev. Mel Arant. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Visitation will be from 2 until 3 p.m. Sunday, prior to the service, at the church.

David Lee Coffee

Anderson, SC - David Lee Coffee, 83, husband of Mary Jane Moon Coffee, died Sunday, June 21, 2015.

Born October 21, 1931 in Anderson, he was the son of the late Otis Lee and Annie Lee Vassar Coffee. He was retired from the U.S. Army and later retired as a Lieutenant at the Anderson County Sheriff’s Department as a shift commander. He was the former owner of Anderson Crime Watch Security and The Snack Shop. A street was named in his honor near the Sheriff’s Department. He was a member of Varennes Heights Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife, Mary Jane Coffee of the home; two daughters, Tina Chasteen Phinney and husband, Jim of Westminster and Sheila Sutton of North Carolina; four sons, Terry Wayne Chasteen and wife, Marie of Anderson, David Lynn Coffee, Johnny Dale Coffee and Stephen Coffee, all of North Carolina; a number of grandchildren and great grandchildren; and four sisters, Lillie Marett, Ruby Nell Smith and Rachel Warren of Anderson and Claudia Willis of Iva.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Fred Richard “Ricky” Chasteen, daughter, Tonya Tamara Chasteen, and a sister, Earline Patterson.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at Iva First Baptist Church conducted by Rev. Jerry Gray and Rev. Wendell Rhodes. Burial, with full military honors, will be in New Silver Brook Cemetery. The family will receive friends from noon until 1:45 p.m. Saturday at the church.

Clara McClain

Central - Clara Evelyn Hanks Jones McClain, 91, of Old Greenville Hwy, widow of J. Ralph McClain, passed away Monday, June 22, 2015 at Summit Place Healthcare.

Born October 19, 1923 in Anderson, she was the daughter of the late Romus O. and Dora Mobley Hanks. She was a retired bookkeeper at Builders Supply and member of Sandy Springs United Methodist Church.

Surviving are her daughter, Alice "Bobbie" Overstreet of Central; son, Charles T. Jones of Iva; 5 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren and sister, Pauline Hanks Mize of Anderson.

Funeral service will be held at 2pm Thursday at Sullivan-King Mortuary with Rev. Cy Rogers and Dr. Dan Batson officiating. The family will receive friends from 1 until 2pm prior to the service at Sullivan-King Mortuary, 3205 N. Hwy 81. Burial will be at Southlawn  Memorial Gardens. Dr. Frank Elery Oliver

Dr. Frank Elery Oliver, an Anderson, S.C., neurologist for 31 years, died Thursday, June 4, 2015.  He was 69.

The son of Elery Webb Oliver and Julia Durham Oliver, he was born in Greensboro, N.C., Sept.  22, 1945. Dr. Oliver graduated salutatorian from metro Atlanta’s North Clayton High School in 1963.  There he was a captain of his football team and named Mr. Football his senior year.

He then attended the Virginia Military Institute, where he played football, and graduated in 1967 as a lieutenant in the U.S. Air Force.

He then enrolled at Bowman Gray School of Medicine at Wake Forest University, receiving his M.D. in 1971.
Dr. Oliver then served four years as a major in the Air Force, stationed at Maxwell Air Force Base in Montgomery, Ala., and Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio, Texas.

He is survived by wife, Margaret Coffman Oliver; children, Elizabeth Oliver Wilson and husband Andrew Michael Wilson, and William Kenton Durham Oliver and wife Safiya Elise Moran-Oliver; grandchildren, Barrett Andrew Wilson (8), Ayden Alexander Wilson (3), Julia Mae Moran-Oliver (2); siblings,  Elizabeth Oliver Schwartz (and husband Gary), Judi Oliver Williams,  and Thomas McWhorter Oliver (and wife Melissa); mother, Julia Lowe Durham Oliver; nieces/nephews,  Dean Oliver Williams, Stewart Durham Williams, Julia Anne Oliver, Joseph Elery Oliver, Alyson Anne Coffman, and Amy Coffman Smith .

Dr. Oliver opened his Anderson practice in 1979 as Anderson Neurological Associates. He was affiliated with Anderson Memorial Hospital (now AnMed Health).

He was a member of St. John’s United Methodist Church in Anderson.

Charles Howard Campbell

Anderson, SC - Charles Howard Campbell, 92, husband of the late Mildred Bowen Campbell, died Thursday, May 28, 2015 at NHC of Anderson.

Born June 6, 1922 in Jefferson, Georgia, he was the son of the late James Reece and Leila Mangum Campbell. Mr. Campbell retired from N-D Fabrics and had previously worked for 23 years with the Anderson City Police and Fire Department. He was a member of New Prospect Baptist Church.

He is survived by his daughter, Jody Campbell of Honea Path; and a number of nieces and nephews.

In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by five brothers, C.T., Reece, Homer, James Alton and Thomas Franklin Campbell and three sisters, Mary Lou Nix, Annie Barksdale and Kathryn McKoy.

Virginia (aka Ginge and Gini) Nora Wagner Baillie

Virginia (aka Ginge and Gini) Nora Wagner Baillie was born May 22, 1944 at Dodge Co. Hospital in Fremont, NE. She was the daughter of Vertis and Pearl Scherer Wagner and grew up on the ancestral family farm west of Hooper, NE. During her childhood, she was a member of Grace (later named Redeemer) Lutheran Church in Hooper. (II Timothy 3:14,15)

After attending a one-room country elementary school (District 48), she graduated from Hooper High School in 1962 and received a Bachelor of Science in Medical Technology from the University of Nebraska in 1965.

She married Earle Eugene (Gene) Baillie of Loup City, NE on Dec 20,1963. After he completed Medical School in 1967, they moved to Michigan where Gene did a rotating internship and Pathology Residency. By this time they had been blessed with three daughters: Rebecca Ann (Becky), Kimberly Ann (Kim), and Heather Kristen. They moved to Texas for two years during which time Gene served as Pathologist at the Public Health Hospital in Galveston, Texas. In 1974, they moved to Anderson, SC where Gene practiced pathology until retirement in 2007.

Gini’s hobbies have varied over the years and besides Bible study have included spending time with family and friends, traveling, cooking, sewing, needle work, playing bridge, and genealogy study. Although she grew up attending church and was always very “religious”, she did not experience a personal relationship with Jesus Christ until 1978 while she and Gene were on a medical mission trip to Korea. Since that time, though often failing, the desire of her heart was to glorify the Lord. She enjoyed teaching Bible studies and Sunday School. Her favorite verse was, “I have no greater joy than to hear that my children (natural, foster, future generations, and spiritual children) are walking in the truth.” 3 John 4. She was an active member of Living Hope Presbyterian Church in Anderson, along with her husband.

After their three daughters were raised, she and Gene became licensed foster parents. Though several children were in their care for short times, four were in theirhomeand heartsas “permanent foster sons”. Their names were Nathan, Wesley, Brian, and Travis White and they were ages 13, 11, 9, and 8 when they came to live with them in April, 1991.

Preceding Virginia in death were: grandparents: Henry and Nora Wagner of Fremont, NE, (died in 1970 and 1980 respectively); Frank and Barbara Scherer of Pilger, NE, both of whom died in 1975; her parents, Vertis and Pearl Wagner (died in 2003 and 2004 respectively), and father-in-law Earl Baillie who died in 1998.

Survivors includeher daughters and sons-in-law: Dr. and Mrs. Jimmy (Rebecca) Baucum; of Greenville, SC; Atty& Mrs. Brian (Kimberly) Woodward of Brentwood , TN; and Headmaster and Mrs. Rodney (Heather) Fletcher of Flint, TX; eight grandchildren: Stephen and Elizabeth Baucum, Benjamin, Baillie and Samuel Woodward, , McCray, Campbell and Chandler Fletcher. Also foster children: Nathan (and Lacy) White, Catelyn, Cailey, Colten and Charlotte of Ingram, TX; Wesley (and Stacy) White, Elise, Case, and Griffin of Anderson, SC; Brian (and Kristin) White, and Cooper of Mount Pleasant, SC; and Travis (and Hannah) White of Anderson, SC; one brother, Virgil (and Dianna) Wagner of Fremont, NE;two cousins, several brothers-and sisters-in-law andnieces and nephews.

A service to celebrate the life of Gini Baillie will be held at 12:30 p.m. Thursday, May 28, 2015, at Central Presbyterian Church, 1404 North Boulevard, Anderson, SC conducted by Rev. Brett Barbee. Anderson, SC - William Edward Chamblee, 86, a lifelong Anderson resident, died Friday, May 8, 2015 at his residence. 

Born February 1, 1929 in Anderson, he was the son of the late Lois Barton and Dora Dooley Chamblee. He was a U.S. Air Force veteran. Mr. Chamblee was a retired postmaster with the U.S. Postal Service. He was a member of the Golden K Kiwanis Club, Hiram Masonic Lodge, and served on the Board of Hammond Water Company for many years. He was a member of First Presbyterian Church where he had served as an Elder.

Survivors include his wife of 63 years, Patricia A. Chamblee of the home; four children, Richard E. Chamblee, Barbara Taylor (Skip), and Alan Chamblee (Margaret), all of Anderson and Lynn Potts (Stephen) of Clemson. He is also survived by six grandchildren: Trey and Corey Taylor, Olivia and Emily Chamblee, and Madison and Gregory Potts; and a great grandson, Cooper Neeley. He is also survived by a brother-in-law, Paul Schoonover of Cave Creek, AZ; and a sister-in-law, Clarissa Getsinger of Anderson. 

Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Monday at Sullivan-King Mortuary Chapel conducted by Dr. Dennis Tedder and Rev. Caroline Berardi. Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 4 until 6 p.m. Sunday at the mortuary. The family is at the residence.
