Allie Mae Cole Cromer

Anderson, SC - Allie Mae Cole Cromer, beloved mother and grandmother, widow of Claude Eugene Cromer, of 2510 Whitehall Avenue, died peacefully at her home on Wednesday, July 15 at the age of 102.

Born May 23, 1913 in Townville, she was one of eight children of Andrew C. “Bub” and Emily Milford Cole. Known as “Mama Cromer” by family and friends alike, she was a member of Concord Baptist Church for 55 years and a member of Carrie Griffin Sunday School Class. She was a charter member of the Upstate Daylily Society, a member of the Garden Trail Garden Club and an Honorary Master Gardener. She was also a member of the American Hemerocallis Society. Her beautiful garden was loved and visited by flower lovers from all over the country. It was her passion and her joy to dig in the dirt and experience God’s amazing creation. She was retired from Appleton Mill and following retirement loved working at Davis Greenhouse for many years.

She is survived by two sons, Gene Cromer (Ruth)and Lamar Cromer (Peggy); two daughters, Ann Blair and Jill Helgeson (Bruce); nine granddaughters, Robin Gamble, Julie Graves, Anna Lollis, Susan Carson, Allyson Child, Amanda Vickery, Lisa Wilson, Marla Pietrowski, Shannon Smith, and one grandson, Kyah Hicks; eleven great grandchildren; five great-great grandchildren; and one sister, Joyce Skelton.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Elaine Chisman, son-in-law, Wayne Blair, and six siblings.

Funeral services will be held at 4 p.m. Saturday at Concord Baptist Church conducted by Dr. Don Cox and Rev. Bob Marcaurelle. Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 2 until 3:45 p.m. Saturday at the church. The family is at the residence.

The family would like to thank the nurses and staff of Hospice of the Upstate for their dedication and love.
