BOBBY DUNN

August 10, 1933, - January 6, 2012 

ANDERSON, SC - Bobby Lee Dunn, age 78, husband of Ann Haney Dunn of 4206 Dixon Road, passed away on Friday, January 06, 2012 at the Rainey Hospice House.

Born in Anderson, SC on August 10, 1933, Mr. Dunn was a son of the late Erskine William Dunn and Lois Amy Dickson Dunn.  He had worked for Coble Dairy for many years before starting his own grading and construction business.  He was a charter member with the Centerville Fire Department where he also served on the board of directors.  He was an avid gardener and was a member of Salem Baptist Church. 

In addition to his wife, he is survived by sons, Ronnie Dunn of Edgefield, SC, Joe Dunn, Greg Dunn and his wife, Jill of Anderson; brothers, Calvin, Herman, Mack  and Rufus Dunn; sisters, Sadie Norris, Nancy Early and Betty Turner, all of Anderson; three grandchildren and three great-great grandchildren including a special grandson, Noah. 

He was preceded in the death by a son, Roger Dunn; grandson Kevin Dunn, brothers, Ralph and Coolidge Dunn and sister, Ruby Nelle Hill.

A Graveside Service was held at Salem Baptist Church Cemetery with Dr. Charles Holland officiating.   

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Salem Baptist Church Cemetery Fund, 1035 Salem Church Road, Anderson, SC 29625 and Hospice of the Upstate, 1835 Rogers Road, Anderson, SC 29621.

WILLENE LOFTIS GINN

AUGUST 17, 1935 – JANUARY 6, 2012  

Fountain Inn – Willene Loftis Ginn age 76, passed away on Friday, January 06, 2012 at the Quillen Manor Assisted Living Facility. 

Born in Iva, on August 17, 1935, Mrs. Ginn was the daughter of the late Wilhite Loftis and Madge Loftis.  She was a secretary for the Jackson Mills for many years. Mrs. Ginn attended the Iva A R P Church. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family.  

She is survived by her son, David Ginn Jr., and his wife, Pam of Simpsonville, SC and two grandchildren: Chandler and Morgan Ginn.

The family will receive friends at The McDougald Funeral Home on Monday, January 9, 2012 from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm, with no other services planned.

Judy Elaine Dickerson 

Piedmont, SC - Judy Elaine Dickerson, 70, of 122 Omega Lane, wife of William Edward Dickerson, went to be with her Lord Jesus, Wednesday, January 4, 2012, at Greenville Memorial Hospital, following a stroke.

Mrs. Dickerson was born in Greenville, SC, a daughter of Hazel Lindsey Guest, of Easley and the late Ralph Guest. She was a homemaker and a member of Siloam Baptist Church and the Jack Cooper Sunday School Class.

Surviving in addition to her mother and husband are two sons, Dr. William "Billy" Dickerson, Jr. and his wife Donna and Steve Dickerson and his wife, Debbie, all of Franklin, TN.; a sister, Joan Tolley, of Greenville; a brother, Bill Guest, of Simpsonville; 5 grandchildren, Sara Carroll, Rebecca Hunter, Landon Dickerson, Will Dickerson and Kaden Dickerson.

In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by a sister, Joyce Caricofe.

Funeral services will be 11:00 AM Saturday at Siloam Baptist Church, with the Reverend Wayne Dickard officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

Members of the Jack Cooper Sunday School Class are invited to serve as Escort of Honor for the funeral service.

Visitation will be from 7:00 PM until 9:00 PM Friday at Siloam Baptist Church.

The family is at the residence.

CHARLES F. BRENNER  

ANDERSON- Charles Frederick Brenner, died January 4, 2012. 

He was an Eagle Scout, WWII overseas veteran, C.B.I. He was a member of New Covenant Presbyterian Church, Anderson. 

Surviving are his wife, Madge Brenner, son, Charles F. Brenner, III, daughter, Nancy A. Lynn, seven grandchildren  and four great grandchildren.

Interment will be at 11 AM, Friday at  M.J. "Dolly" Cooper Veterans Cemetery with military rites by Campbell Patriots Honor Guard, followed by a Memorial Service at 12 noon at New Covenant Church. The family will receive friends at the church following the service.

DR. JERRY CLONTS

ANDERSON, SC – Dr. Jerry Arden Clonts Sr. passed away on Wednesday, January 4, 2012. 

Born in Gaston, AL, he was a son of the late Ernest and Josephine Clonts. Dr. Clonts served in the United States Navy and was a retired professor at Anderson University.  

He is survived by his children: Jerry Clonts, Jr. of Moorhead, NC, Charlene Clonts of Paris, France, and Cecile Heidi Clonts of Helsinki, Finland; five grandchildren; and Betty Clonts of Moorhead, NC, & Marie-Therese Clonts of Taylors, SC.   The family would like to acknowledge the staff of Hospice of the Upstate, as well as B.J. Avery, Sandra Pratt, Mary Mack, & Sherry Dean, for the genuine care given to Dr. Clonts.  In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by a daughter, Janice Clonts Entrekin.

The family will receive friends at The McDougald Funeral Home from 2pm until 3pm on Saturday, January 7, 2012. A Graveside Service will follow at 3:30pm in Oaklawn Memorial Gardens.

CALLIE O'BARR

PENDLETON- Callie Mary Hooper O'Barr, 97, of 324 Sanders Rd, Pendleton, died Wednesday January 4, 2012 at the Rainey Hospice House. 

Born April 7, 1914 in Helen, GA she was the daughter of the late John Harvey and Callie Queen Hooper. She was retired from Orr Lyon Mills and was a member of Southside Baptist Church. She was a loving mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. 

Surviving are her daughter, Mary Ann O'Barr Smith and husband, Levis of Pendleton, devoted daughter-in-law, Jean W. O'Barr of Anderson, grandchildren, Rosalind and Mike Murphy of Anderson, William and Melody Smith, Rhonda and Jeff Poole, all of Pendleton, Greg and Janna O'Barr, of Monroeville, PA, Tim O'Barr of Anderson, Ryan and Dana O'Barr, of Townville; great grandchildren, Mary Catherine and Meredith Murphy, Tyler and Carter Poole, Ivy Smith, Carly O'Barr, and  Jonah and Justin O'Barr.  She was preceded in death by a son, Marion H. O'Barr, brothers, Dale, Harvey, J.R., J.D., Frank and John Hooper and sisters, Flora Porter, Mamie Stamps, Virginia Cole and Louada King. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family.

Funeral services will be held at 3:30 PM Saturday at Sullivan-King Mortuary, Northeast Chapel, 3205 Hwy 81 North with Rev. Phil McAlister officiating. Burial will be in New Silver Brook Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 PM Friday at the northeast chapel. The family will be at the home of her daughter, Mary Ann Smith, 320 Sanders Rd, Pendleton.

MABEL W. BOULWARE

ANDERSON, SC – Mable Wright Boulware, wife of the late John Edward Boulware, passed away on Thursday, January 5, 2012, in Florence, SC, after a brief illness.

Born in Anderson County on September 6, 1924, she was a daughter of the late Floyd E. Wright and Alice Fields Wright.  Mrs. Boulware was a 1946 graduate of Winthrop College with a Bachelor of Arts in English.   She taught school in Charleston, Kershaw, Newberry, and Anderson school districts for 38 years.  Mrs. Boulware was a member of the First Baptist Church of Belton.

Survivors include her children: daughter, Sue Boulware Stevens and husband, Roy, of Lexington, SC; son, Dr. Bill Boulware and wife, Jane, of Florence, SC; grandchildren: Rachel, Nathan, & Alice Stevens, and Will, Brent, Daniel, & John Boulware.  In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by a sister, Katharine W. Dobbins; and a brother, Leon B. Wright.

The Funeral Service will be held at 3pm on Saturday, January 7, 2012, in the Gambrell Chapel of the First Baptist Church of Belton conducted by the Reverend T. Dale Lynch and the Reverend Dr. Booker Bagby. Interment will follow in the Garden of Memories.

The family will receive friends from 2pm until 3pm on Saturday, January 7, 2012, in the Gambrell Chapel, prior to the service.

BILLY E. COKER

September 16, 1929 – January 3, 2012

ANDERSON, SC - Billy Edward Coker, age 82, husband of Mildred Gillespie Coker of Anderson, passed away on Tuesday, January 3, 2012 at the AnMed Health Medical Center.

Born in Williamston, SC on September 16, 1929, Mr. Coker was a son of the late Raymond Coker and Mary Louise McClellan Coker.  He was a graduate of Boys’ High School and was a United States Navy Veteran having served in the Korean War.  He retired from Singer Company with many years of service.

In addition to his wife of the home, he is survived by a brother, Ray Coker of Greenville, SC.

A Graveside Service will be held on Friday, January 6, 2012 at 2:30 pm at Forest Lawn Memorial Park. 

The family will receive friends at The McDougald Funeral Home on Friday from 1:00 pm until 2:00 pm.

ANDERSON, SC - Infant Gabriel Matthew Grover, of 1200 Broadway Lake Road, died 12-31-2011, at AnMed Health Medical Center. 

Survivors include his parents; Chad Robinson and Michelle Grover; sisters, Kelley, Jasmine & Caitlin Grover; grandparents, Mike & Wilma Grover; aunts, Kira & Jasmine Grover.

MRS. LILLIAN POWELL BLALOCK

July 12, 1920 – January 1, 2012 

HARTWELL, GA - Mrs. Lillian Powell Blalock, age 91, of 719 Mt. Olivet School Road, Hartwell, GA, passed away at Country Villa in Rancho Mirage, CA, on Sunday, January 1, 2012.  She was born in Anderson, SC, daughter of the late Rosa Lee Smith Powell and Samuel Powell.  Lillian was the wife of the late Claude O’Dell Blalock to whom she was married for 63 years.

Mrs. Blalock was a member of Flat Shoals Baptist Church in Hartwell. For a number of years, she was a spinner at Anderson Mills.  Her real passion in life was her family and her role as wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.  She also gave of herself in many ways, having served as a foster-parent and as a care giver for the elderly.  She always enjoyed gardening where she grew vegetables and flowers.  Cooking fried chicken, homemade biscuits and mashed potatoes with gravy was her specialty.  Lillian was also an avid baseball fan, with her favorite team being the Atlanta Braves.

Carrying on her legacy are her children, Etrulia L. White (James) of Anderson, SC; Kenneth C. Blalock (Reba) of Hartwell, GA; Ronald Patrick Blalock of Palm Desert, CA., Carolyn Ann Goldman (Mickey) of Palm Desert, CA; and Janet Lynn Adkins of Canon, GA.  Also surviving are 13 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents and husband, Mrs. Blalock was preceded in death by a son, Timothy Samuel Blalock; a sister, Sarah Kathleen Powell; and four brothers, Albert, Thurman, Curtis and James Powell.

A Service Celebrating the Life of Mrs. Blalock will be held on Friday, January 6, 2012, at 10:00 AM in the Chapel of The McDougald Funeral Home, with Rev. Gary Stewart, and Rev. John Daniel officiating.  Interment will follow in the New Silver Brook Cemetery.  

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday, January 5, 2012, from 5 PM – 7 PM.  The McDougald Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

TRUDY TABOR

JULY 22, 1933 – JANUARY 2, 2012

ANDERSON, SC – Mildred Eutrulia ‘Trudy’ Fletcher Tabor, age 78, wife of the late Ted Frank Tabor to whom she was married fifty years, passed away on Monday, January 2, 2012. 

Born July 22, 1933, in Anderson, SC, she was a daughter of the late Marvin Fletcher and Grace Hammond Fletcher.  She was a graduate of Anderson Girl’s High School and was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church. Following a career as a banking & travel agent, she and her late husband resided on Fripp Island and upon his death she relocated back home to Anderson. 

Survivors include her children: son, Mark Andrew Tabor and wife, Marge, of Cambridge, ID; daughter, Alyson Tabor Haley and husband, Adam, of Anderson, SC; grandsons: Austin Dupre Darby and Andrew Tabor Darby; brothers: Malian Fletcher of Hot Springs, AK, and Mickey Fletcher of Columbia, SC; mother-in-law, Lois Tabor of Anderson, SC; sister-in-law, Judy Elliott and husband, Nick, of Greenville, SC; and sister-in-law, Faye Fletcher of Anderson, SC. 

In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by a sister, Muriel F. Beacham; and brothers: Melvin Fletcher and Marvin Fletcher.

The family will receive friends at The McDougald Funeral Home from 6pm until 8pm on Wednesday, January 4, 2012.   A private funeral service will be held on Thursday with burial to follow in Old Silver Brook Cemetery.

GEORGE J. ROSSER  

ANDERSON - George Johnson Rosser, 86, of  Anderson, passed away Sunday, January 1, 2012 at the Rainey Hospice House.

Born October 31, 1925 in Fort Lauderdale, FL, he was the son of the late George Thomas and Clara Johnson Rosser. He was a Veteran of WW II having served in the U.S. Army.  George was retired from FCX and was the retired owner and operator of George's Feed and Seed Store on W. Calhoun Street. He was member of Concord Baptist Church where was the Past President of the Don Latham Sunday School Class. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and brother and an inspiration to all who knew him.

Surviving are his wife, Beth Willis Rosser of the home; 2 daughters, Carla Rosser Riddle and her husband, Randy and Sonya Rosser King; grandson, Justin King all of Anderson; sisters, Hilda Herndon and Camilla Wansey and her husband, Mitchell all of Elberton and 4 nephews.   

Funeral service will be held at 1:30pm Wednesday at Sullivan-King Mortuary, Northeast Chapel with Dr. Don Cox officiating. Burial will follow at 4pm at Bethel E. Baptist Church Cemetery in Elberton. The family will receive friends Tuesday from 6 until 8pm at Sullivan-King Mortuary, Northeast Chapel, 3205 Hwy 81 N.

The family is at residence.
