RITA KOSLOSKI

May 17, 1928-March 7, 2013

Anderson - Rita Frances Kosloski, age 84, of Anderson, passed away on Thursday, March 7, at NHC.

Born in Chicago, she was the daughter of the late William and Anna O’Rourke of Chicago.  Rita worked for 20 years at J.C. Penney in Florida. She enjoyed singing in the church choir and traveling and spending time with her grandchildren. She loved to laugh, enjoyed flowers and celebrated her Irish heritage. She was a parishioner at St. Joseph Catholic Church.

She is survived by a son, Larry Kosloski, and his wife Evelyn; two daughters, Ann Wichner, and her husband Mark, and Karen Yurchuck and her husband Scott; and 11 grandchildren: Justin, Zachary, Spencer, Tyler, Claire, Alex, Brian, Kyle, Alison, Lindsey, and Laurie.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Larry Kosloski, Sr., to whom she was married for 48 years.

RUTH MILLER

March 12, 1932 – March 6, 2013

ANDERSON, SC - Ruth Golden Weldon Miller, 80, of Anderson, went home to be with Jesus on Wednesday. March 6, 2013.

Born on March 12, 1932 in Central, SC, Ruth was the daughter of the late Duff and May Boggs Golden.  She was preceded in death by her first husband, David Weldon and her second husband Leroy Miller, her daughter Jeannie Ruth Donahue, three brothers, Buster, Edward and Ronnie Golden, one sister, June Hendricks, one grandson, Richard “Ricky” Berg and one granddaughter, Tammy Williams.

She is survived by four daughters, Pat Davis and her husband Doug of Fountain Inn, SC, Wanda Sue Gibson of Anderson, SC, Sandra Browning and husband Larry of Anderson, SC, and Sherry Clark of Lexington, SC; three sons, Brock “Steve” Stevens and wife Maggie of Fort Worth, TX, Alton Weldon and wife Pat of Grottes, VA, and David Weldon and wife Wanda of Greenville, SC; two sisters, Loretta Hunter and Connie Barnes; one brother, Darrell Golden; 16 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be held at The McDougald Funeral Home on Friday, March 8, 2013 from 7 PM until 9 PM, with the funeral service on Saturday, March 9, 2013 at Noon in the chapel of the funeral home with Mr. David Davis, and Reverend Darrel Golden officiating.  Interment will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park. 

The family will be at the home of her daughter, Wanda.

ROBERT L. LOWE

January 21, 1932 - March 6, 2013

ANDERSON, SC - Robert Lee Lowe, age 81, of Anderson, passed away on Wednesday, March 6, 2013 at Richard Campbell Veterans Nursing Home.

Born in Woodland, NC, he was the son of the late Jessie James Lowe and the late Daisy Boone Lowe.  He proudly served his country in the United States army serving during the Korean War.  He worked at JP Stephens for over 20 years and at Clark Schwebel for 14 years.  He was a member of Pope Drive Baptist Church. 

He is survived by his loving wife, Louise Christine Mizelle Lowe, of the home; two sons, Rick Lowe of Anderson and Duane Lowe and his wife Diane of Seneca; a daughter, Toni Kubu and her husband Jerry of Kings Mountain, NC; two brothers, Billy Lowe of Nashville, NC and Cleveland Lowe of Rich Square, NC; four sisters, Nellie Mae Bryant of Rich Square, NC, Betty Bigalow of Stoneville, NC, Margaret Brittenham of Ahoskic, NC and Thelma Elliott of Rich Square, NC; six grandchildren, Dion, Heather, Jason, Chelsea, Brian and Amanda; three great-grandchildren, Kimberly, Marco and Sullivan; he is also survived by his roommate and friend from Richard Campbell, Mr. John Mitchell.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Bud Lowe and two sisters, Rena Broggman and Ruth Ann Lowe.

The Funeral service will be held on Saturday, March 9, 2013, at 2:00 PM in the Chapel of The McDougald Funeral Home with Layman Jimmy Andrews officiating.  The family will be at the home of his son, 1002 Lady’s Lane, Anderson, SC 29621 and will receive friends at the funeral home prior to the service from 12:30 PM until 1:30 PM. Interment will follow on Monday, March 11, 2013 at 11:00 AM at  M.J. “Dolly” Cooper Veterans Cemetery with Military Honors.

PAULINE MCCOY

November 25, 1916 – March 5, 2013

STARR, SC - Pauline Caro Terry McCoy, age 96, wife of the late Robert F. McCoy, passed away on Tuesday, March 5, 2013, at the Rainey Hospice House. 

Born in Anderson County, she was the daughter of the late Richard Erwin Terry and the late Carrie Bruce Terry.  She was a former employee of Jackson Mill and Crescent High School.  She was a life-long member of Iva Wesleyan Church, serving as a former Sunday School Teacher and in all of the children’s activities.  She enjoyed traveling, sewing and quilting. 

She is survived by her children, Robert Carlton McCoy and his wife Cathy, Jerry McCoy and his wife Lois, Carolyn Cody and her husband Michael, Paulette Beusse and her husband Alan and Leonard McCoy and his wife Carolyn; a daughter-in-law, Jane McCoy; three brothers, Alvin, Amos and John Terry; 13 grandchildren, Bobby, Tommy and Kenny McCoy, Jean Garber, Troy McCoy, Matthew and Mark Cody, Jan Harvey, Lee Beusse, Rick McCoy, Jacob McCoy, Cindy Romano and Terry McCoy; and 19 great-grandchildren. 

In addition to her husband of 72 years, Mr. Robert F. McCoy, she was preceded in death by a son, Richard “Freddie” McCoy; two infant grandchildren; two brothers; and four sisters. 

The family will be at their respective homes and will receive friends at The McDougald Funeral Home on Friday, March 8, 2013, from 12:30 PM until 1:30 PM. The Funeral Service will follow at 2:00 PM in the chapel with Reverend Ron Rogers officiating.  Interment will follow in the Iva City Cemetery.

CYNTHIA ERWIN

February 8, 1956 – March 5, 2013 

ANDERSON, SC - Cynthia Diane Erwin, age 57, of Anderson, passed away on Tuesday, March 5, 2013 at her residence.

Born in Anderson, SC she was the daughter of Arthur Otho Murphy of Anderson and the late Georgia Mae Beacham Murphy.  She was previously employed at Orian Rugs.

In addition to her father, she is survived by her son, Danny Erwin and his wife Carla; a brother, Tony Murphy of Anderson; and five grandchildren.  

In addition to her mother, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Casey Erwin; and a brother, Roger Murphy. 

The Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, March 7, 2013 at 3:30 PM in the Chapel of The McDougald Funeral Home with Mr. David Lee Callaham officiating.  The family will be at their respective homes and will receive friends at the funeral home preceding the service from 2:00 PM until 3:00 PM.

PAULINE H. LECROY

December 2, 1919 – March 2, 2013

Pauline Elizabeth Hembree LeCroy, age 93, of 106 Boston Street, entered eternal rest on Saturday, March 2, 2013, upon her death at Rainey Hospice House.  Born in Anderson County, she was the daughter of the late Charlie Hembree and the late Anna Bearden Hembree.  For 64 years, she was the loving and devoted wife of the late Fred Burton LeCroy until his death in 2000.Mrs. LeCroy worked as a winder at Equinox Mills for over 30 years.  She was a member of Taylor Memorial Pentecostal Holiness Church.  Her passion was her family, as she was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother.   

Survivors include 2 sons, Jerry LeCroy and his wife, Gail, and Mike LeCroy and his wife, Daniela, both of Anderson; 12 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, and 3 great-great grandchildren also survive.  In addition to her parents and husband, Fred, Mrs. LeCroy was preceded in death by a son, Charles W. LeCroy; a brother, Rev. Eugene Pettit; 3 grandchildren, Steve, Rhonda and Scott; and 1 great-grandchild, Amber Nicole.

A funeral service celebrating the life of Mrs. LeCroy will be held on Wednesday, March 6, 2013, at 2 PM at the Taylor Memorial Pentecostal Holiness Church with Rev. Brent Lollis and Mr. Harry Osborne officiating.  Interment will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park.  The family is at the residence of  Jerry and Gail LeCroy, 323 Knollwood Drive, and will receive friends at The McDougald Funeral Home on Tuesday, March 5, 2013, from 6 PM until 8 PM.

SANFORD E. HANKS

December 1, 1924 – March 4, 2013 

Sanford Ellis Hanks, age 88, of 804 Good Hope Church Road, Starr, passed away at his residence on Monday, March 4, 2013.   Born in Anderson, he was the son of the late Ellis Armon Hanks and the late Mamie Dunn Hanks.  For 65 years, he was the loving and devoted husband of Ella Carey Hanks of the residence.  Mr. Hanks proudly served his country in the US Army.  For approximately 20 years he was employed at Jackson Mill.  He was a faithful member of Rocky River Baptist Church where he was a member of the Men’s Bible Class. 

In addition to his wife, Ella, he is survived by a son, Kenneth S. Hanks and his wife, Connie, of Iva; a daughter, Diane Young of Starr; a daughter-in-law, Judy Hanks of Belton; 4 grandchildren, Barron M. Young (Vickie), Bradley S. Young (Stephanie), Brooklyn  Y. Powell (Jeremy), and Angela H. Garrison;  a granddaughter-in-law, Beth Young; 9 great-grandchildren, Nicole Young, Jolee Young, Chelsie Bellew, Charlie Young, Brittan Young, Brandon Young, Ansley Garrison, Sydney Garrison, and Kooper Garrison.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Hanks was preceded in death by a son, R. Armon Hanks; a brother, Butch Hanks; a son-in-law, Marshall J. Young; and 2 grandsons, Joseph Brenton Young and Brian Kenneth Hanks. 

A funeral service to honor and celebrate the life of Mr. Sanford E. Hanks will be held at Good Hope Baptist Church, Iva, on Wednesday, March 6, 2013, at 12 Noon, with Rev. Bobby Jones and Rev. Daniel Atkins officiating.  Interment will follow in the Iva City Cemetery.  The family will be at the home of Brooke and Jeremy Powell, 803 Good Hope Church Road, Starr, and will receive friends at The McDougald Funeral Home on Tuesday, March 5, 2013 from 6 PM until 8 PM.

FRED WATERS

September 5, 1917 – February 26, 2013

ANDERSON, SC - Fred Griffin Waters, age 95, of Anderson, passed away on Tuesday, February 26, 2013 at Emeritus at Anderson Place.

Born in Williamston, SC, he was the son of the late James Perry Waters and the late Maggie Rhodes Waters.  He was a mechanic with the State Highway Department, where he worked for over 25 years until his retirement.  Fred enjoyed showing his trick-horse, Tammy to many youth and church groups.  Fred was a member of First Baptist Church in Anderson.  He was a member of the Baraca Sunday School class and sang in the Baraca choir.

He is survived by his daughter, Joyce Murphy and her husband Jerry, of Anderson; one grandson, Mitchell Murphy; and a number of nieces and nephews.  Fred was the last surviving member of his immediate family.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Ruth Baker Waters; two brothers, Rufus and Manning Waters; and five sisters, Mary Breazeale, Naomi Earle, Ruth Wilson, Donnie Shirley and Bertha Blackston.

The Graveside Service will be held on Wednesday, February 27, 2013, at 3:30 PM at Forest Lawn Memorial Park with Reverend William R. French officiating.  The family with gather for a time of visitation following the service.

The family will be at the home of his daughter, 2707 Midway Road, Anderson, SC 29621.

JENNY WRIGHT

ANDERSON – Jenny Ruth Wright, 80, of Anderson, passed away peacefully on Thursday evening, February 21, 2013. She spent her final days surrounded by family before being called home to Heaven.

Born May 12, 1932 in Laurens, she was the daughter of the late Robert and Thelma Willingham Holliday. She was a homemaker and a former teacher’s assistant at Westside High School. Jenny was an active member of Concord Baptist Church throughout her life and was a caregiver to the elderly during her golden years. Her focus in life was centered around faith, church, family, and friends. This is where she spent her time and where she found life’s greatest joy. Our mother will always be remembered for her constant smile, her funny and wise sayings and most of all her unconditional and never-ending love for those closest to her. She was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. Mama (Nonnie) will be missed.

Survivors include two sons, Gregg Wright and wife, Amy and Robin Wright and wife, Caroline, all of Anderson; grandchildren, Cameron and Wesley Wright, Haley Wright, Logan and Landon Wright, Morgan, Dillon, and Dustin McDougald; great granddaughter, Maddison Wright; five brothers, Pete Holliday, Charles Holliday, Butch Holliday, Jerry Holliday, and Don Holliday; and two sisters, Jean Cobb and Frances Forrester.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Ed and Parker Holliday.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Monday Sullivan-King Mortuary Chapel conducted by Rev. Bob Marcaurelle. Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 11:30 a.m. until 12:45 p.m. Monday prior to the service at the mortuary, 3205 North Highway 81, Anderson.

DORIS LEE

ANDERSON - Doris Antho Knight Lee, 88, of 244 Cloverhill Drive, widow of Lloyd H. Lee, died Sunday, February 17, 2013 at NHC of Anderson.

Born June 10, 1924 in Greenville County, she was the daughter of the late William Lewis and Lillie Fuller Knight. She was a retired employee of J.P. Stevens Company. She was a charter member of the Appleton Mill Women’s Club and was a member of Mount Zion Presbyterian Church.

Survivors include three daughters, Brenda Lee Smith, Charlotte L. Wilkie and husband, Joel, all of Anderson, Elaine L. Wisniewski and husband, Julian of Spartanburg; four granddaughters, Dana W. Milam and husband, Stephen of Salisbury, NC, Julie W. Murphy and husband, Michael of Spartanburg, Amber W. Warner and husband, Don of Calvert, TX, and Valerie E. Wisniewski of Spartanburg; seven great grandchildren, Ivy and Victoria “Bella” Mesrtovic, Daniel Milam, Sara Milam, Laken Warner, Colin and Chloe Murphy; stepdaughter, Armina Makison and husband, Harold of Anderson; and a sister, Omega K. Peay and husband, Aaron of Whitmire.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by sisters, Mary V. Knight and Imogene K. Hardin and husband, Bill; brother, Benton Knight; grandsons, Joel D. and Robert Glenn Wilkie; and a son-in-law, Connie R. Smith.

Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Monday, February 25, 2013 at Sullivan-King Mortuary Chapel conducted by Pastor Lindsay Hatch. Burial will follow in New Silver Brook Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 2 until 3 p.m. prior to the service at the mortuary, 3205 North Highway 81, Anderson. The family is at the home of her daughter, Charlotte and Joel Wilkie, 124 Victorian Drive, Anderson.

NICHOLAS “NICK” COCCHIA

April 8, 1960 – February 19, 2013

ANDERSON, SC - Nicholas Richard Cocchia, age 52, of Anderson, passed away on Tuesday, February 19, 2013, at Oconee Memorial Hospital.

Born in Cornwall, NY, he was the son of Wilma Cocchia Bigger of Townville, SC and the late Salvatore Nicholas Cocchia.  He graduated from Cornwall High School in New York and was a Chemist at Tarkett Inc.  He moved to Anderson, SC in 1994 and was a bartender in the Anderson area, most recently at The Hideaway in Fair Play, SC.  He loved animals and enjoyed working with electronics and gadgets.  He was a beloved uncle and was a friend to all.  Nick was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church.

In addition to his mother, he is survived by his cats, Felix and Casper; sisters, Tanya Charping and her husband Alan of Pendleton and Carla Branyon and her husband Jim of Anderson; a brother, Richard Cocchia and his wife Kim of Abbeville; his step-father, Sam Bigger; many nieces and nephews and his extended family in New York also survive him.

The Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, February 23, 2013 at 11:00 am in the Chapel of The McDougald Funeral Home with Father Paul Williams, OFM officiating.  

The family will receive friends on Friday, February 22, 2013 at the funeral home from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm.

LAMAR W. MITCHELL

June 14, 1925 – February 21, 2013

Lamar Walter Mitchell, age 87, of 221 Lamar Mitchell Road, Belton, entered his Heavenly home on Thursday, February 21, 2013, upon his death at Rainey Hospice House in Anderson.  Born in Anderson County, he was a son of the late Walter Eugene Mitchell and the late Essie Pearl Wilson Mitchell.  For 57 years he was the loving and faithful husband of Sara Crawford Mitchell of the residence.

Mr. Mitchell was a co-owner and operator of Beeks and Mitchell Exxon in Belton.  He also was a farmer, raising cattle and various crops.  Lamar was a member of Blue Ridge Baptist Church in Belton, where he was a Sunday School teacher and also served as a Deacon.

In addition to his beloved wife, Sara, he is survived by a son, Freddy L. Mitchell and his wife, Betty, of Belton; a daughter, Phyllis M. Webb of Belton; a sister Carolyn “Boots” Erskine of Belton; 5 grandchildren, James Mitchell Crawford, Dusty Lee Mitchell, Heather Ann Minton, Philip Eric Webb, and Brandon Fields;  also surviving are 9 great-grandchildren.  In addition to his parents, Mr. Mitchell was preceded in death by a grandson, Dakota Lamar Mitchell, and 6 brothers and 1 sister.

Funeral services will be held on Sunday, February 24, 2013, at 3 PM at the Blue Ridge Baptist Church in Belton, with Rev. Richard Busha officiating.  Interment will follow at the Belton City Cemetery.  The family will be at the residence and will receive friends at Blue Ridge Baptist Church on Sunday, February 24, 2013, from 1 PM until 2:30 PM.
