Lamar Walter Mitchell, age 87, of 221 Lamar Mitchell Road, Belton, entered his Heavenly home on Thursday, February 21, 2013, upon his death at Rainey Hospice House in Anderson.  Born in Anderson County, he was a son of the late Walter Eugene Mitchell and the late Essie Pearl Wilson Mitchell.  For 57 years he was the loving and faithful husband of Sara Crawford Mitchell of the residence.

Mr. Mitchell was a co-owner and operator of Beeks and Mitchell Exxon in Belton.  He also was a farmer, raising cattle and various crops.  Lamar was a member of Blue Ridge Baptist Church in Belton, where he was a Sunday School teacher and also served as a Deacon.

In addition to his beloved wife, Sara, he is survived by a son, Freddy L. Mitchell and his wife, Betty, of Belton; a daughter, Phyllis M. Webb of Belton; a sister Carolyn “Boots” Erskine of Belton; 5 grandchildren, James Mitchell Crawford, Dusty Lee Mitchell, Heather Ann Minton, Philip Eric Webb, and Brandon Fields;  also surviving are 9 great-grandchildren.  In addition to his parents, Mr. Mitchell was preceded in death by a grandson, Dakota Lamar Mitchell, and 6 brothers and 1 sister.

Funeral services will be held on Sunday, February 24, 2013, at 3 PM at the Blue Ridge Baptist Church in Belton, with Rev. Richard Busha officiating.  Interment will follow at the Belton City Cemetery.  The family will be at the residence and will receive friends at Blue Ridge Baptist Church on Sunday, February 24, 2013, from 1 PM until 2:30 PM.
