Lynn Page Russ

June 20, 1947 – February 16, 2010

Lynn Page Russ, age 62, of 304 Kirby Rd., Belton, SC, passed away Tuesday, February 16, 2010, at AnMed Health Medical Center.

Born June 20, 1947, in Lexington, NC, she was the daughter of Louise B. Smith and the late Flynn S. Smith.  She lived with her sister, Louise Smith Weaver, in Belton where she attended The Church of God, Hwy. 252.

In addition to her mother of Anderson, SC, she is survived by her brothers, Flynn S. Smith, Jr. and his wife Marian, Cud Joe Key, Fl; Shawn S. Smith and his wife Lisa, Orlando, Fl; sister Louise S. Weaver, Belton, SC; sixteen nieces and nephews.

Her father was a regular officer in the U.S. Air Force and was stationed at many bases all over the world.  She and her family traveled with him except to the combat stations.  Because she was always traveling she attended many schools, beginning in Galveston and Marian Texas; Lexington, NC; Tripoli, Lybia; again in Lexington, NC; Blacksburg, VA; Roseville and Anchor Bay, Michigan, and graduated high school from Washington College Academy, Washington, TN. She then attended Lees McRae College in Banner Elk, NC.  Following college she was accepted into the Corcoran School of Art, Washington, DC, and later studied Commercial Art for two year at Mid-Florida Tech, Orlando, FL.

She spent her life engulfed in art. From early childhood she loved and appreciated the Artistic World of Gods creation.  She captured the beautiful magnificent colors of the universe placing them in oils on hundred of canvases.  Besides her work in oils, she enjoyed sketching, writing poetry, reading, photography, walking, dancing, swimming, and helping those in need.  Because she had no children, she became a second mother to her great and grand nieces and nephews.  She would greet them always with special little treats and they all knew she would make their lives a little sweeter.

The Funeral Services were held in the garden of her brother’s lakefront home in Orlando, where the family members gathered to bid her farewell.  The Reverend Steve Sellers conducted the services.  Her father often called her “The Little Bird”, and the family likes to think that when she left this world the “The Little Bird” flew “Over the Rainbow.”
