BARBARA STAMEY

June 14, 1953 – January 13, 2013

ANDERSON, SC - Barbara Elain Stamey, age 59, of 231 Thomason Circle, passed away on Sunday, January 13, 2013 at her residence.

Born in Dorcheo, MI, she was the daughter of Mrs. Arrie Elizabeth Mennix of Anderson and the late John Mennix.  She was a member of The Church of Christ.

In addition to her mother, she is survived by her husband, Richard Stamey of Anderson; her children, Paul Mennix of Pendleton and Kelli Stamey Hamilton of Royston, GA; a brother, Jim Harrison of Phoenix, AZ; and six grandchildren.

In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by a sister, Sue Phillips.

The funeral service will be held on Thursday, January 17, 2013 at 2:00 pm in the Chapel of The McDougald Funeral Home with Reverend Julian Crowe officiating.  Interment will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park with Minister Brad Giffin officiating at the graveside.

The family will be at the home of Rosa Stamey, 93 Hunters Lane (Hunters Glenn Subdivision) and will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday, prior to the service from 12:00 noon until 1:30 pm.

RAYMOND L. SEAWRIGHT

May 18, 1941 – January 14, 2013 

Raymond L. Seawright, age 71, of 316 F Street, passed away at his residence in the early morning hours of Monday, January 14, 2013.  He was born in Anderson, SC, and was the son of the late Frank C. Seawright and the late Annie Mae Thacker Seawright.  For almost 50 years, he was the loving and devoted husband of the late Clara Mae Burdette Seawright until her death in 2011.

Mr. Seawright was a 1960 graduate of Anderson’s Boys’ High School, and was retired from Kroger Bakery after 25 years of employment as a head mixer.  

Survivors include 4 sons:  Billy Joe Seawright of Anderson, Kenneth Seawright and his wife, Freida of Starr, Scottie Lee Seawright of Anderson and David Seawright of Anderson;  also surviving are 10 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.  In addition to his parents and his wife, Clara, Raymond was preceded in death by a daughter, Rhonda Gail Seawright Hamby. 

A graveside service will be held on Thursday, January 17, 2013, at 3 PM at Forest Lawn Memorial Park, with Rev. Timothy Burdette and Mr. Rodney Cobb officiating.  The family is at the residence and will receive friends at The McDougald Funeral Home on Wednesday, January 16, 2013, from 6 PM until 8 PM.

SALLIE THACKER

May 2, 1922 – January 13, 2013

ANDERSON, SC - Sallie Boles Thacker, age 90,  formerly of 202 B Street, Anderson, passed away on Sunday, January 13, 2013 at Hart Care Center in Hartwell, GA. 

Born in Elberton, GA, she was a daughter of the late Clarence Spear Boles, Sr. and the late Rosalee Manning Boles.  She retired from the Anderson Mill after many years of service.  She was a member of Central Baptist Church. 

She is survived by her son, Daniel W. Thacker and his wife Sandra M. of Anderson; and two step-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, William Thacker, six brothers and three sisters.  Sallie was the last surviving member of her immediate family.

The funeral service will be held on Wednesday, January 16, 2013 at 3:00 pm in the Chapel of The McDougald Funeral Home with Dr. Ray Grant officiating.  Interment will follow at Townville Presbyterian Church Cemetery. 

The family will be at their respective homes and will receive friends at the funeral home prior to the service on Wednesday from 2:00 pm until 3:00 pm.

NANCY STEADMAN

August 2, 1949 – January 9, 2013

ANDERSON, SC - Nancy Gambrell Steadman, age 63, of 718 George Albert Lake Road, passed away at AnMed Health Medical Center.

Born in Anderson, she was a daughter of the late William Floyd Gambrell and the late Floree Wells Gambrell.  She was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.

She is survived by her loving husband, Donald Steadman, of the home; two daughters, Jenny Ford and her husband Kenneth, of Belton, SC and Amy Ford and her husband David of Anderson, SC; four brothers, Douglas Gambrell of Pendleton, SC, Robert Gambrell of Salisbury, NC, Thomas Gambrell of Belton, SC and Larry Gambrell of Anderson, SC; one sister, Edna Leopard of LaFrance, SC and three grandchildren, Jacob, Alex, and Kelsie Ford. 

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two sisters and four brothers. 

The Funeral service will be held on Friday, January 11, 2013, at 2:00 pm at Oaklawn Memorial Gardens Mausoleum with Bishop Darrin Parks officiating.

LEONARD JAMES LACOBIE

August 30, 1938 – January 9, 2013

ANDERSON, SC - Leonard James Lacobie, age 74, of Anderson, passed away at Richard Campbell Veterans Nursing Home on Wednesday, January 9, 2013.

Born in Groves, TX, he was the son of the late Wilson Joseph Lacobie and the late Hilda Boudreaux Lacobie. He was a 1957 graduate of Thomas Jefferson High School. Leonard proudly served his country in the United States Navy, serving active duty for five years with Operation Deep Freeze. He retired from textiles after several years of service.  

He is survived by his children, Daniel James Lacobie of Anderson, SC and Tracy Jay Lacobie of Atlanta, GA; a brother, Carl Gene Lacobie of Orlanda, FL; and grandchildren, Betty Jean Zugg and Dalton James Lacobie.

The Graveside service will be held at Forest Lawn Memorial Park on Saturday, January 12, 2013, at 1:00 pm with Reverend Jonathan McGary officiating. Military Honors to be provided by Campbell Patriots Post 184.

The family will be at the home of his son, Daniel, 2022 Old Spring Drive, Anderson, SC 29621 and will receive friends at The McDougald Funeral Home on Friday, January 11, 2013 from        6 pm until 8pm

STEVE DAVIS

June 1, 1953 – January 8, 2013

STARR, SC - Steven A. Davis, born June 1, 1953, beloved husband of Pam Branyon Davis, father, papa and father-in-law went to his Heavenly Home on Tuesday, January 8, 2013 at AnMed Health Medical Center, surrounded by his family.

Mr. Davis is the son of Vivian Davis of Anderson and the late Cecil L. Davis.  A graduate of T.L. Hanna High School, Steve was a co-owner of Beverage Systems Inc. along with his life-long friends, Steve and Debbie Neese.  He was an avid Clemson fan and a member of Starr Baptist Church.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by two daughters, Chrissy Madden and her husband Lucky and Jessie Linker and her husband Stan; six grandchildren, Brent, Steven and Chase Madden, and Caide, Brody and Abby Linker; a brother, Brad Davis, sisters, Donna Manly and Terriann Smith; mother-in-law, Mildred Branyon and very close friends, Ray and Amelia Scruggs.

The Funeral service will be held on Saturday, January 12, 2013, at 2:00 pm in the Chapel of The McDougald Funeral Home with Reverends Tony Howell and Ken Whitt officiating.  A private burial will follow the funeral service.  

The family is at the residence and will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday, January 11, 2013, from 5:00 pm until 8:00 pm.

HELEN BOWIE

May 24, 1929 – January 6, 2013

Helen Bowie was welcomed into Heaven by her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Sunday, January 6, 2013.

Born in Anderson County, she was a graduate of Girls’ High School.  Helen was a cosmetologist who owned her own salon in the 60’s.  Later on she was employed by the Equinox Mill and later still the Meyers-Arnold and Upton’s department stores. She was an avid member of the Daughters of the Nile (Shriners), Eastern Star, and the Equinox Women’s Club.  She was a member of the Central Baptist Church until its dissolution, and most recently a member of Bethel Baptist Church.

She was the daughter of the late Mrs. Sula Sharpton Bowie and Allen Arthur Bowie.  She was also preceded in death by her older brother, William Arthur Bowie.

She is survived by her beloved sister, Mrs. Mildred Bowie Cash, her brother-in-law, Ralph Cash, and her greatly-loved niece and caregiver, Kimberly Cash, whom she thought of as a daughter.

Services will be conducted by the Reverend Dr. Ray Grant and assisted by the Reverend Dr. William R. West, Jr. at The McDougald Funeral Home Chapel at 3:00 pm on Friday, January 11, 2013, Interment will follow at New Silver Brook Cemetery.  Visitation will be prior to the service at the funeral home from 2:00 pm until 3:00 pm.  The family will be at the residence.

Flowers are optional, or memorials may be made to Anderson County Humane Society, 235 Camson Road, Anderson, SC 29621, or to Bethel Baptist Church, 301 Rogers Street, Anderson, SC 29625.

DIANE G. GARLAND

December 15, 1949 – January 8, 2013

Brenda Diane Gentry Garland, age 63, of LaFrance, SC, passed away on Tuesday, January 8, 2013.

Born in Anderson, she was the daughter of the late Harrison and Lois Gentry.  She was a member of LaFrance First Baptist.

She is survived by her daughter, Tammy Garland; three brothers, Preston, William and Randy Gentry and a sister, Bobbie Nimmons.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Randall Garland and two sisters, Frances Smith and Edna Mullikin. 

The Funeral service will be held on Friday, January 11, 2013 at 11am at LaFrance First Baptist with Reverends Gordy Craft, Robert Durham, Albert Couch and Gene Burdette officiating.  Interment will follow at Memory Gardens in Clemson, SC.  Visitation will be at the church prior to the service from 10:00 am until 11:00 am.
