PAUL G. JASKO

FEBRUARY 2, 1947 – APRIL 9, 2010

ANDERSON, SC – Paul George Jasko, age 63, of 2034 Shelter Point, passed away on Friday, April 9, 2010, at AnMed Health Medical Center.

Born in River Edge, NJ, on February 2, 1947, he was a son of the late Paul Jasko and Estelle Czarche Jasko.  Mr. Jasko retired as the Director of Production from Pfizer Pharmaceuticals.  While a longtime resident of Sanford, NC, he served as a member of the Emergency Management Board.  He was an avid golfer.

In addition to his mother, he is survived by his wife, Dale D. Jasko; daughter, Jacqueline Veasey and husband, Greg of Wilmington, NC; son, Chris Jasko of Columbia, SC; two grandchildren: Samantha & Jeremy Veasey; brothers: Jerry Jasko of Texas, Ken Jasko of Maryland, and Mark Jasko of New Jersey. 

A Memorial Service will be held at 3:00 pm on Friday, April 16, 2010, in the Chapel of The McDougald Funeral Home conducted by Dr. Jack Couch.  The family will receive friends immediately following the service.

In lieu of flowers, it is suggested that memorials be made to the Cancer Association of Anderson, 215 East Calhoun Street, Anderson, SC 29621. The family is at the home.

NELL TEMPLETON MACKAY

ANDERSON – Nell Templeton MacKay, 82,of Holly Ridge Drive, formerly of Orangeburg and Barnwell, widow of Elston L. MacKay, died Sunday, April 11, 2010 at her residence.

Born in Blackville, she was the daughter of the late John Doyle Templeton, Sr. and Lillian Hutto Templeton. She was a graduate of Orangeburg Regional Hospital School of Nursing and also attended Boston College in Boston, MA. Mrs. MacKay worked as a Registered Nurse at Orangeburg Regional Hospital, Barnwell Nursing Home, and as a Plant Nurse for Barnwell Woolen Mills, Shuron Corporation of Barnwell, and Revco Industries of Williston, SC. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church of Anderson and the Seekers Class.

Survivors include three sons, John W. (Woody) MacKay and wife, Angie, of Guyton, GA, David W. MacKay and wife, Mary Lou, of Water View, VA, and Raymond E. MacKay and wife, Margaret, of Anderson; eight grandchildren; two step grandchildren; three great grandchildren; one sister, Jewell Rebman of Greenville; and two brothers, John Doyle Templeton, Jr. of Columbia and Wendell Templeton of Gaston.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Oswald Templeton, and a sister, Leola Barr.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at First Presbyterian Church of Anderson conducted by Dr. Dennis Tedder and Rev. Jack Anderson. The family will receive friends at the church following the service. Graveside services will be held at 5 p.m. Wednesday at Barnwell County Memory Gardens in Barnwell.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to First Presbyterian Church, 302 West Whitner Street, Anderson, SC 29624 or to the charity of choice.

ANN M. DAVIDOVICH

April 21, 1919 – April 12, 2010

ANDERSON, SC - Ann Mary Davidovich, age 90, of 411 Ponce de Leon Drive, wife of the late Marko “Mike” Davidovich, passed away on Monday, April 12, 2010 at the Rainey Hospice House.

Born in Duluth, MN, she was a daughter of the late Ivan and Agnes Gerdich.  She retired from St. Luke’s Hospital in Duluth, MN and formerly lived in Gary New Duluth, MN. 

Survivors include her son, Michael Davidovich and his wife, Jackie; three grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. In addition to her husband and parents, she was predeceased by a daughter, Joan Davidovich and a sister, Margaret Secard.  She was the last surviving member of her immediate family.

A Private Committal Service will be held on Wednesday, April 14, 2010, at Forest Lawn Memorial Park.

The family request no flowers and memorials be made to Hospice of the Upstate, 1835 Rogers Road, Anderson, SC 29621 or to the charity of one’s choice.

GRETA P. KEOWN

Starr – Greta Page Gentry Keown, 39, of 532 Good Hope Road, died Sunday, April 11, 2010 at AnMed Health Medical Center. 

Born July 31, 1970 in Anderson, she was the daughter of Danny Gentry and Georgia Acker Anderson. She was a member of Life Tabernacle Church. 

Surviving are her sons, Gentry Keown and Tyler Cartee both of the home; mother Georgia Anderson of Charleston; father and step mother, Danny and Janice Gentry of Starr and brother, Scott Gentry of Charleston. 

Funeral service will be held Wednesday at 2pm at Flat Rock Baptist Church with Revs. Ed Hunsinger, Tim Burdette and Rick Baldwin officiating.  Burial will follow in Flat Rock Cemetery. The family will receive friends Tuesday from 6 until 8pm at  Sullivan-King Mortuary, Northeast Chapel, 3205 Hwy 81 N.

The family is at the home of her Aunt, Margie Martin, 616 Hayes Road, Starr.

DAVID CLEMENT

March 11, 1951  - April 11, 2010

Anderson, SC – David Clement, age 59, of 144 Old Asbury Road, passed away April 11, 2010, at The Rainey Hospice House.

Born in Lenior, NC, on March 11, 1951, he was the son of J. Fred Clement and Juanita Rogers Clement. He was a graduate of T.L. Hanna. He serviced in the United States Marine Corps.  He worked in heavy highway construction as an operator and mechanic, with Clement Brothers, a family owned business.  He was a member of New Prospect Baptist Church.

Survivors include his parents, sister Kathy Hammond and her husband, Richard, of Anderson; a special niece April Thompson, and numerous nieces and nephews.

He is predeceased in death by twin brothers, Jackie and Mackie Clement, brother, Joe D. Clement, and a sister Joyce C. Thompson.

A Graveside service will be held on Tuesday, April 13, 2010, at 1:00 p.m. at New Prospect Baptist Church officiated by Reverend Tom Turner.

The family will at the residence and will receive friends on Tuesday, April 13, 2010, following the service.

JACKIE DONNELLY, JR

April 1, 1956 - April 10, 2010

Anderson, SC – John “Jackie” Donnelly, Jr., age 54, of 203 Miracle Mile Drive, passed away April 10, 2010, at The Hospice House.

Born in Weehawken, NJ, on April 1, 1956, he was the son of Alice B. Donnelly and the late Jack Donnelly.  He was a 1974 graduate of T.L. Hanna and attended Clemson University.

He was an avid golfer and attended St. Joseph Catholic Church and was a member of the Knights of Columbus.

Survivors include his mother, a son, Trey Woodard of Columbia, brother, Brian L. Donnelly and his wife, Debbie of Powdersville; sisters, Nancy O’Rourke and her husband, John and Mary Alice Kelley and her husband, Steve, all of Anderson, Claire Redding and fiancé” Larry Trotter, Jr. of Herndon, VA; and several nieces and nephews.

A Memorial Service will be held for Mr. Donnelly, at a later date.

MILDRED T. THOMPSON

DECEMBER 29, 1920 – APRIL 9, 2010

STARR, SC – Mildred Tolbert Thompson, age 89, formerly of 7820-B Highway 81 South, passed away on Friday, April 9, 2010, at Ellenburg Nursing Home.

Born in Greenville County on December 29, 1920, she was the oldest of five daughters born to John Robert Tolbert and Goldie Campbell Tolbert.  Mrs. Thompson was a 1943 graduate of Lander College and completed post-graduate work at the University of South Carolina.  She retired in 1980 after thirty years of service as a public school teacher.  She was a member of the South Carolina Education Association and the Palmetto State Teachers Association.  Mrs. Thompson was a member of Starr Baptist Church.  She was descended from several Pioneer families in the Upstate – namely the Campbell, Coker, & Berry families of Greenville County and the Tolbert, Collins, Payne, and Morton families of Abbeville & Greenwood Counties.

Survivors include her son, Richard E. Thompson and wife, Joyce B. Thompson, of Starr, S.C.; two grandsons: Wallace M. “Wally” Thompson of Seattle, WA, and Addison E. “Adam” Thompson of Charleston, S.C.  Two sisters also survive her: Emmiline T. Young of Greenwood, S.C., and Julia T. Morrison of Ware Shoals, S.C.

In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Richard E. Thompson; and two sisters: Florence T. Harley and Nancy Red Tolbert.

The Funeral Service will be held at 2:00 pm on Monday, April 12, 2010, at Starr Baptist Church conducted by the Reverend Tony Howell.  The family will receive friends immediately following the service.

A private family committal service will be held at Old Silver Brook Cemetery. The family is the home of Richard & Joyce Thompson.

DONNIE RICHARD TUCKER

 December 25, 1945 – April 10, 2010

Anderson, SC  - Donnie Richard Tucker, age 64, of 2827 W. Whitner Street, Anderson, passed away April 10 2010, at AnMed Health Medical Center.

Born in Anderson, SC, he was the son of Fay Worley Tucker, and the late Lawson Thaddeus Tucker. 

Survivors include his mother, a son, Donnie Richard Tucker, II and his wife, Quata, daughter, Natalie Jean Spears and her husband, Todd,  all of  Ohio; two grandchildren, Katie and Shane Spears; one great- granddaughter Annaliese; brothers, Duane Holman Tucker and his wife, Lee, of Gastonia, NC, and Durron Thaddeus Tucker and his wife, Penny, of Pennsylvania .

The Funeral Service will be held on Monday, April 12, 2010, at 3:00 pm at The McDougald Funeral Home Chapel officiated by Reverend Jerry Nation.

GERALDINE BEUSSE TINSLEY

May 18, 1927 – April 10, 2010

Anderson, SC – Gladys Geraldine Beusse Tinsley, age 82, of 456 Williamston Road, Anderson, SC, passed away Saturday, April 10, 2010 at the Hospice of the Upstate in Anderson, SC.

Born in Anderson, SC on May 18, 1927, she was a daughter of the late Lonnie L. Beusse and Eldarado Beusse. She retired from textiles and was a member of Calvary Baptist Church.

Survivors include a son, Dennis Tinsley and his wife Sylvia, and two daughters, Pam Standard and Vickie Bolt and her husband Johnny, all of Anderson, SC; a brother, Joe D. Beusse and his wife Evelyn and a sister, Webbie Cole, all of Anderson, SC; six grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, Geraldine is predeceased by her husband, Floyd Earl Tinsley, a brother, Rufus L. Beusse and a sister, Blondelle Addison.

A Graveside Service will be held on Monday, April 12, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. at New Silver Brook Cemetery with Reverend Curtis Bundy officiating. 

The family will be at their respective homes and will receive friends on Sunday, April 11, 2010 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.

Anderson, SC - Fredda Jane Jones Hamby, age 63, of 3503 Woodcone Trail, Anderson, passed away April 9, 2010, at her residence.

Born in Anderson, SC, she was the daughter of the late Fred Jack Jones and Mildred Edwards Jones.  She was a graduate of T.L. Hanna High School.  She retired from Owens Corning after 29 years of service, after retiring she worked at Belk’s Department Store for several years. She was a member of Orrville Baptist Church.

Survivors include her children, Robin Williford and her husband Eric, of Hartwell GA, Tommy Hamby and his wife Darlene, of Abbeville, SC, Shelia Rogers and her husband Keith, Sandy Simmons and her husband Tim, all of Williamston, SC, Terry Hamby and his wife Beth, of Pelzer, SC; nine grandchildren; five great grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, she is predeceased by a sister, Brenda Jones.

The Funeral Service will be held on Monday, April 12, 2010, at 2:00 pm at Orrville Baptist Church officiated by the Dr. Wendell Bannister and the Reverend Charles Allen.

The body will be placed in the Church at 1:00 pm Monday. Interment will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park.

The family will be at the residence and will receive friends at The McDougald Funeral Home on Sunday, April 11, 2010, from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm.

WILLIAM CALVIN GARRETT

August 20, 1928 -April 10, 2010

Anderson, SC - William Calvin “Bill” Garrett, age 81, of 28 South Lake Ridge Drive, Iva, passed away Saturday, April 10, 2010, at AnMed Health Medical Center.

Born in Greenville, SC, he was the son of the late William Haskell Garrett and Hazel Painter Garrett.  He served in the United States Air Force and in the Civil Air Patrol.  He attended First Baptist Church of Iva and volunteered with New Hope Harvest Food Bank.

Survivors include his sons, Mark Garrett and Roger Garrett both of Cocoa, FL, a daughter, Kathy Baines of Melbourne, FL; eleven grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; sisters, Doris Blakely and her husband Bill, of Abbeville, SC, Ileen Rector and her husband Procter, of Greenville, SC, and a loving friend, Betty Gray.

In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by a son, Paul Garrett.

A Memorial Service will be held on Monday, April 12, 2010, at 2:00 pm at First Baptist Church of Iva officiated by the Reverend Jerry Gray.

The family will be at their respective homes and will receive friends at the church following the service.

TRAVIS THRASHER

LaFRANCE – Charles Travis Thrasher, Sr., 73, formerly of LaFrance, husband of the late Lily Mae Thrasher, died Friday, April 9, 2010 at the Rainey Hospice House.

Born April 6, 1937 in Anderson County, he was the son of the late Noah Clarence and Fannie Lawton Thrasher.  He was a retired employee of Equinox Mill and was of the Baptist faith. Mr. Thrasher loved fishing and racing.

Survivors include his children, Buster Thrasher and wife, Debbie of Pendleton, Janice Thrasher of Iva, Jimmy Thrasher and wife, Sheila of LaFrance, and Eddie Thrasher and wife, Kim of Sandy Springs; stepson, Johnny Meadows and wife, Lisa of Lexington, GA; stepdaughter, Darlene Roper of Pendleton; l6 grandchildren, including Roger Thrasher of Anderson, who was raised in the home; two great grandchildren; four sisters, Joyce Glenn of LaFrance, Mary Thrasher of Seneca, Reba Blalock of Hartwell, GA, and Audrey Fuller of Seneca; and his first wife, Betty Wilson Milford of Iva.

In addition to his second wife and parents, he was preceded in death by four brothers, Junior Thrasher, Harold Thrasher, Billy Thrasher, and Milford Thrasher, and one sister, Wanda Thrasher.

Funeral services will be held at 2:30 p.m. Sunday at Sullivan-King Mortuary, Northeast Chapel, conducted by Rev. David Blizzard. Burial will be in Forest Lawn Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 4 until 6 p.m. Saturday at the mortuary, 3205 North Highway 81, Anderson. Family members are at their respective homes and will be at the home of a sister, Audrey Fuller, 159 Spoon Road, Seneca, following the visitation.
