RUSSELL S. NEWHALL

DECEMBER 4, 1930 – JULY 5, 2010
 
ANDERSON, SC – Russell Sanderson Newhall, age 79, of 311 Simpson Road and formerly of 126 Tanglewood Drive, passed away on Monday, July 5, 2010, at An Med Health Medical Center.
 
Born in Greenfield, Mass., he was a son of the late Charles Nathan Newhall and Jennie Sanderson Newhall.  He was a United States Army Veteran and was a retired Mechanical & Electrical Engineer. Mr. Newhall was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Greenville.
 
Survivors include his son, Russell C. Newhall and wife, Margaret, of Anderson, SC; grandson, Ryan Newhall and wife, Dennell, of Albuquerque, NM; brother, Byron H. Newhall of White Plains, NY.  He is also survived by Phil, Sandra, & James Bowers.
 
Mr. Newhall was twice married; first to the late Sylvia Chevalier Newhall and secondly to the late Mary Bowers Newhall.
 
A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 am on Monday, July 12, 2010, in The McDougald Family Center. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the Family Center.

EFFIE P. NIX

October 18, 1926 – July 7, 2010
 
ANDERSON, SC - Effie Parker Nix, age 83, wife of James Nix of 1404 Grady Hall Road, Anderson, died Wednesday, July 07, 2010 at the Rainey Hospice House.
 
Born in Pickens County, SC on October 18, 1926, Mrs. Nix was a daughter of the late William Arthur Parker and Carrie McCall Parker.  She retired from Clark-Schwebel.  She was a member of Providence Baptist Church and a former member of Homeland Park Baptist Church.
 
Survivors include her husband of the home; sons, Gary Nix and his wife, Thelma of Heyburn, Idaho and Wayne Nix of Anderson, SC; brothers, Sylvester Parker and Leonard Parker; sister, Dollie Bagwell, all of Easley, SC; three grandchildren, Michael Nix, Michelle Nix Wilson, Tonya Nix and seven great-grandchildren.
 
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by a son, Roger Nix; brothers, Reverend A. C. Parker and Earl Parker.
 
The Funeral Service will be held on Friday, July 9, 2010 at 2:30 pm in the Chapel of The McDougald Funeral Home officiated by the Reverend Michael Kinard.  Interment will follow in Forest Lawn Memorial Park.
 
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday from 1:00 pm until 2:00 pm.

OLLIE MORGAN

December 22, 1913 – July 6, 2010
IVA, SC - Ollie Carroll Morgan, age 96, formerly of Burriss Road, Iva, wife of the late Charles Andrew Morgan, died Tuesday, July 6, 2010 at Abbeville Area Medical Center.
 
Born in Anderson, SC on December 22, 1913, Mrs. Morgan was a daughter of the late Jim and Ponder Carroll.  She was a nursing assistant in several nursing homes and was a homemaker.  She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and an excellent cook.  Mrs. Morgan was the last surviving member of her immediate family and was of the Baptist Faith.
 
Survivors include her children, Frank Edward Morgan and his wife, Martha of Anderson, SC, Clyde Earl Morgan and his wife, Barbara of Piedmont, Richard Arlon Morgan and his wife, Allana of McCormick, SC, Ernest Eugene Morgan of McCormick, SC, Max Carroll Morgan of Hartwell, GA, Marion Janet Hill of McCormick, SC,  and Linda Gail Nichols and her husband, Bill of Athens, WV.  She was a five-generation grandmother being survived by numerous grandchildren.
 
In addition to her husband and parents, she was predeceased by a daughter, Eloise Elizabeth Harris and two sons, Lyndie and Donnie Ray Morgan.
 
A Graveside Service will be held on Friday, July 9, 2010 at 11:00 am at New Silver Brook Cemetery officiated by the Reverend Ron Suttles.
 
The family will be at their respective homes and will receive friends at The McDougald Funeral Home on Thursday, July 8, 2010 from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm.

JAMES F. CARPENTER

September 9,1925 - July 3, 2010
 
Elberton, GA - James Fortune Carpenter, age 84, of Elberton, GA., husband of the late Lois Vivian Womack Carpenter, passed away on Saturday, July 3, 2010, at Landmark Hospital in Athens, GA.
 
Born in Rutherford County, NC, on September 9, 1925, he was a son of the late Davie Greenberry Carpenter and Georgia Ellen Short Carpenter.  Mr. Carpenter attended the University of Indiana and Notre Dame.  He was a veteran of the United States Navy.
He retired from Bryant Electric Company and was a member of Union Baptist Church, Iva, SC.
 
Survivors include a son, James David Carpenter and his wife, Becky; daughters, Caroline Carpenter, Betty Webb and her husband, Ronnie, and Lisa Baggett and her husband, Lloyd; nine grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
 
In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by four brothers, Everett, Ernest, J.D. and Walter “Bub” Carpenter; and two sisters, Ruby Bridges and Ethel Mae Robbins.
 
The Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 am on Monday, July 5, 2010, at Union Baptist Church, officiated by Reverends Jim Osteen and Gary Purvis.  Interment will follow in the Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the church one hour prior to the service.
 
The family will be at the home of Betty and Ronnie Webb, 2579 Nickville Road, Dewey Rose, GA.

RANDALL GARLAND

Anderson, SC – Randall Lamar Garland, age 63, of 22 Circle Street, LaFrance, SC, husband of Diane Gentry Garland, passed away on Saturday, July 03, 2010, at his residence.
 
Born in Walhalla, SC on November 14, 1946, he was a son of the late Earl Lee Garland and Pearl Gillispie Garland. Mr. Garland worked for J.P. Steven/West Point Pepperell Company for over 40 years.  He was a member of the First Baptist Church of LaFrance, and was a member of senior fellowship at First Baptist Church of Pendleton.
 
In addition to his wife, he is survived by a daughter, Tammy Garland of the home, brother, Larry Garland of LaFrance: two sisters, Shirley Evans of Sandy Springs and Joan Scarboro of Pendleton.
 
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by a brother, Frankie Garland, and a sister, June Durham.
 
The Funeral Service will be held at 3:30 pm on Monday, July 5, 2010, at First Baptist Church of LaFrance, officiated by Reverend Gene Burdette, Reverend Gordy Craft, and the Reverend Robert Durham.  Interment will follow in Memory Garden in Clemson, SC.
 
The family will be at the home, and will receive friends Monday, July 5, 2010, at First Baptist Church of LaFrance from 2:00 pm until 3:00 pm.

JOHN B. GREER

ANDERSON – John Beverly Greer, 86, of 122 Vandiver Road, husband of Edna Fant Greer, died Friday, July 2, 2010 at his residence.
Born July 13, 1923 in Anderson, he was the son of the late William Jones and Sally Vandiver Greer. He was a U.S. Army Veteran of World War II. Mr. Greer was a Dairy Farmer, an employee of J. Roy Martin Roofing Company and later retired from Sargent Metal Fabricators. He was a member of Hiram Masonic Lodge #68 and Hopewell Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Edna F. Greer of the home; one daughter, Virginia Anna Greer of the home; brother, William J. “Dock” Greer of Anderson; and a sister, Annie Shirley of Anderson.
He was preceded in death by brothers, Jones Greer and Dewitt Greer, and sisters, Frances Hiott and Mamelou Riker.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at Sullivan-King Mortuary, Northeast Chapel, conducted by Rev. Ken Keaton. Burial will be in Forest Lawn Memorial Park with Masonic Rites and Military Honors conducted by Campbell Patriots. The family will receive friends from 7 until 9 p.m. Sunday at the mortuary, 3205 North Highway 81, Anderson. The family is at the residence.

TURNER FRANK BOWMAN

March 8, 1948 – July 1, 2010
 
CONWAY, SC - Turner Frank Bowman, age 62, of Conway, SC, went to be with the Lord after a brief battle with cancer on Thursday, July 1, 2010 at his residence.  
 
Born in Anderson, SC on March 8, 1948, Mr. Bowman was a son of the late Frank Bowman and Elizabeth McCoy King.  He served in the United States Navy and was employed with Burroughs & Chapin for many years.  He liked sports especially the University of North Carolina.  He loved spending time with family and friends and working in his yard.
 
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Gina Bowman; a granddaughter, Jessica Bowman and a sister, Shoner Scarborough.
 
He is survived by his best friend and life partner, LouAnn Long of Conway, SC.; two daughters, Nikki Bowman of Marion, NC and Jennifer Chaney of Shelby, NC; three grandchildren, Nevaeh, Brooklyn and Blake.
 
A Graveside Service will be held on Monday, July 5, 2010 at 11:30 am at New Silver Brook Cemetery officiated by the Reverend Mike Harrell with visitation thirty minutes prior to the service.

CHESLEY L. DALRYMPLE

JUNE 26, 1963– JULY 1, 2010
 
PENDLETON, SC – Chesley Louis “Chep” Dalrymple, age 47, of 1329 Five Forks Road, passed away following a short illness on Thursday, July 1, 2010, at the Rainey Hospice House.
 
Born in Pendleton, he was a son of Madolon Taylor Dalrymple and the late Gerald Yeargin “Jerry” Dalrymple.  He was a certified General Motors Technician and was formerly employed by Kevin Whitaker Chevrolet in Greenville.  Mr. Dalrymple earned the Rank of Life while a Boy Scout and was a lifelong member of Lebanon Baptist Church.
 
Survivors include mother, Madolon Taylor Dalrymple, of Pendleton; a brother, Andy Dalrymple and wife, Kimberly of Manassas, VA, and their children: Kalli, Drew, and Jerry Dalrymple.  A very special family caretaker and friend, Postell Lewis of Anderson also survives.
 
A Graveside Service will be held at 11:00 am on Monday, July 5, 2010, at Lebanon Baptist Church Cemetery, conducted by the Reverend Harry Warren and the Reverend Ray Thompson.  The family will receive friends immediately following the service.
 
The family is at the home of his mother, 205 Jerry Dalrymple Road.

BELTON, SC – Charisse Darlene Wallace, age 50, of 212 Brown Street, passed away on Wednesday, June 30, 2010.
 
Born in Anderson, SC, on February 15, 1960, she was the daughter of Ruth Vaughn Nichols and the late Kenneth D. Nichols.  She was a homemaker and attended the Belton Pentecostal Holiness Church.
 
Survivors include her husband, Tommy C. Wallace, of the home; her mother, Ruth V. Nichols of Anderson; her daughters: Kristin Queen of Anderson, SC, and Rebecca Wallace of Anderson, SC; her half brother, Michael Copeland of Anderson, SC; her three grandchildren: Meghan Alyssa Selman, Cheyenne Nichole Perkins, and Jayde Kennedi Queen; and her two step grandchildren: Bailey Jordan Queen and Mason Brock Queen; and her uncle, Tommy Gene Vaughn, of Laurens, SC.
 
The Funeral Service will be held at 2:00 pm on Monday, July 5, 2010, in the Chapel of The McDougald Funeral Home conducted by the Reverend Eric Boggs. Interment will follow in Forest Lawn Memorial Park.

FANNIE B. BROWN

IVA, SC - Fannie “Dusty” Ruth Bell Brown, age 79, formerly of 338 Drake Circle, wife of the late Rev. William “Bill” Troy Brown, went home to be with her Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ on Tuesday, June 29, 2010. 
 
Born in Oconee County, SC on September 25, 1930, Mrs. Brown was a daughter of the late William Benny Bell and Daisy Mae Wilson Cole.  She was a homemaker and a wonderful cook.  Mrs. Brown was of the Baptist Faith and loved the Lord and His Word.
 
Survivors include her sons, William Brown and his wife, Brenda of Iva and David Wayne Brown and his wife, Frankie of Nauvoo, AL; daughters, Linda Black, Sue Holmes and her husband, Mike, of Anderson and Mary Simpson and her husband, Theron of Iva; 12 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren.
 
In addition to her husband and parents, she was predeceased by a son, Henry Herbert Brown and a sister, Maggie Bell.
 
The Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, July 1, 2010 at 11:00 am in the Chapel of The McDougald Funeral Home officiated by the Reverend Sam Duncan.  Interment will follow in New Silver Brook Cemetery.

IVA, SC - Sallie Todd Taylor Josey, age 91 of 619 Keowee Road, died Monday, June 28, 2010 at her residence.
 
Born in Anderson County, SC on October 1, 1918, Mrs. Josey was a daughter of the late  Stephen Ernest Todd and Rosalie Strickland Todd.  She retired as a professional seamstress and was a member of Victory Fundamental Baptist Church in Bryson City, NC.
 
Survivors include her sons, Therman D. Taylor and his wife, Jean of Williamston, Haskell Taylor and his wife, Carolyn of Pelzer and Paul Anthony Taylor and his wife Debbie of Antreville; step-daughter, Karen Gambrell; sister, Lillian Gordon of Due West; eight grandchildren; fourteen great-grandchildren and three great-great grandchildren.
 
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her first husband, Bert Robert Taylor and her second husband, Walter Josey; sons, Robert David Taylor and Floyd Ray Taylor.
 
A Graveside Service will be held on Thursday, July 1, 2010 at 11:30 am at Forest Lawn Memorial Park officiated by the Reverend Aaron Hodges.

Born in Anderson, SC on August 1, 1956, Mr. Nichols was a son of Maudie Parnell Nichols of Cleveland, Ohio and the late John McDuffie Nichols, Sr. 
 
In addition to his mother, he is survived by brothers, Larry Nichols and his wife, Kathy; Brad Nichols and Kyle Nichols; sisters, Vickie Zajc and Cassie Robinson and her husband Tim; grandmother, Ruth Elliott of Anderson.
