Jerry Wilson

August 28, 1944 – February 25, 2011

BELTON, SC - Jerry Allen Wilson, of 245 Austin Road, Belton, SC, husband of Debbie Ashley Wilson, passed away Friday, February 25, 2011, at his residence.

Born in Anderson, SC, on August 28, 1944, he was the son of the late Allen Wilson and Ruth Wright Wilson.  He was an avid fisherman and hunter and was a member of Bethany Baptist Church.

In addition to his wife of forty six years, he is survived by his daughter Carla Powell and her husband, Jack of Anderson; two sisters, Frances Shirley and her husband, Nathan of Honea Path and Joanne Smith of Anderson; two grandchildren, Matthew and Ryan Powell.

The Funeral Service will be Sunday, February 27, 2011, at 3:00 pm at Bethany Baptist Church with Reverend Carroll Plemmons officiating.  Interment will follow at Bethany Baptist Church Cemetery.

The family will receive friends Saturday, February 26, 2011, from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm at The McDougald Funeral Home

The family will be at the residence.

Mattie G. Seabolt

February 26, 1930 – February 24, 2011

ANDERSON, SC - Mattie G. Seabolt, age 80, of 210 Sumter Street, Anderson. SC, went to be with her Lord on Thursday, February 24, 2011, at her home after a longtime illness.

Born in Hartwell, GA, on February 26, 1930, Mrs. Mattie Grace Seabolt was the daughter of the late Thomas B. Hicks and Viola Dodgens Hicks.  She was a retired hostess of Comfort Inn of Greenville.

Survivors include three daughters, Barbara Carol Arflin, Shirley Ann Culbertson and Susan Diane Arflin all of Anderson; two nieces, two nephews and a special friend and caregiver, Susan Rebecca Strickland.  She also has eight grandchildren, twenty great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by the late Joel E. Seabolt and Lewis G. Arflin; two sons, Lewis G. Arflin, Jr. and Michael R. Seabolt; one daughter, Frances J. Garrett; one brother, Thomas Hicks; one sister, Audrey Martin and one great-grandchild, Corey P. James.

The Funeral Service will be Sunday, February 27, 2011, at 3:00 pm in the Chapel of The McDougald Funeral Home with Reverend Bo Trotter officiating.  Burial will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home Saturday, from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm.

JACOB JAMESON

FEBRUARY 8, 1988 – FEBRUARY 23, 2011

ANDERSON, SC—Jacob Allen Jameson, age 23, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, February 23, 2011.

Born February 8, 1988, in Anderson, SC, he was the loving son of Don & Deborah Payne Jameson.  Jacob attended T.L. Hanna High School and was currently employed in the cleaning service industry.  Among his many passions, he enjoyed music and his ability to compete in automobile audio system competitions.  From his childhood days as a Boy Scout with Anderson Troop 84, he developed a fondness of the outdoors and especially enjoyed fishing.   Jacob and his family are members of Concord Baptist Church.

He is survived by his parents, Don & Deborah, of the home; his sisters: Buffy Lynn Jameson of Anderson, SC, and Ginny Leigh Jameson of Lynchburg, VA; his grandfather, Harold M. Jameson and his wife, Ruby of Carnesville, GA; his beloved girlfriend, Paige Cleveland of Belton, SC; and a number of aunts, uncles, cousins, and wonderful friends.

Jacob was predeceased by grandparents: John & Eloise Smith Payne, and Helen Goolsby Jameson.

The Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, February 26, 2011, at Concord Baptist Church conducted by Dr. Don Cox and the Reverend Bill Parnell.  Burial will follow at Antioch Baptist Church Cemetery, Mt. Airy, GA.

The family is at the home, 1005 Brown Road, and will receive friends at The McDougald Funeral Home from 5:00 pm until 7:00 pm on Friday.

LOLA  FULLER

July 14, 1913 – February 22, 2011

 

ANDERSON, SC - Lola Davis Gilliam Fuller, age 97, passed away Tuesday, February 22, 2011, at AnMed Health Medical Center.

Born on July 14, 1913, in Oconee County, SC, she was a daughter of the late Jesse James Davis and Della Lorene Howell Davis. She was retired from Orr Lyons Mill and was a member of Centerville Baptist Church.

She is survived by her daughter, Dorothy G. Lollis of Anderson; a special son-in-law, Donald Milford of Anderson; six grandchildren, James Gilliam, Jr., Shannon Lollis, Deborah Green, Mike Gilliam, Bruce Milford and Terry Davis; several great-grandchildren and several great-great grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her first husband, Dee Gilliam; her second husband, Morris Fuller; two sons, James and Bill Gilliam; a daughter, Barbara Milford; two brothers, J. W. and Grover Davis; four sisters, Mae Davis, Lois Hall, Carrie Peeples, and Lillian Bowers.

The Funeral Service will be held Friday, February 25, 2011, at 2:00 pm in the Chapel of The McDougald Funeral Home with Reverend Zane Talley and Reverend Delennon Stowe officiating.  Burial will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park.

The family will receive friends at The McDougald Funeral Home Thursday, February 24, 2011, from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm.

JOHN SUMMERS

ANDERSON, SC - John Howard Summers, 87, of Anderson Place, died Saturday, February 19, 2011 at AnMed Health Medical Center.

Born January 11, 1924 in Birmingham, AL, he was the son of the late A.V. and Gertrude Howard Summers. He was in the United States Naval Air Corps during World War II and a graduate of the University of Alabama.  He was a  retired sales manager with General Electric and a member of Vestavia Hills United Methodist Church of Birmingham.

Surviving are his wife, Frances McAbee Summers; 2 sons, John Summers and his wife, Clare of Anderson and Jim Summers and his wife, Nancy of Mooresville, NC and 5 grandchildren, Marci Waldorf and her husband, Ben, Perrie Summers, Ryan Summers and his wife, Brittany, Rebecca Summers and Mark Summers. He was preceded in death by a sister, Cle McCullough.

A memorial service will be held at 2pm Saturday at Anderson Place Chapel.

LEROY PELFREY

JULY 2, 1935 – FEBRUARY 19, 2011

ANDERSON, SC—Thomas Leroy Pelfrey, Sr., age 75, of 202 Edwards Drive, passed away on Saturday, February 19, 2011, at the Rainey Hospice House.

Born July 2, 1935, in Anderson, SC, he was a son of the late William Lawrence Pelfrey and Mary Naomi Welborn Pelfrey.  He served in the United States Army and was a member of the Ruff Masonic Lodge No. 240 and was the Assistant Scout Master for Troop No. 141.  Mr. Pelfrey retired from the textiles industry with forty-five years of service and was a member of Victory Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife, Virginia “Pat” Allen Simpson Pelfrey, of the home; sons: Thomas L. Pelfrey, Jr., and wife, Michelle of Anderson, SC, and David Alan Pelfrey and wife, Lynn of Townville, SC; and four grandchildren: Crystal King and husband, Cliff, Ashley Pelfrey, Josh Pelfrey, and Jennifer Pelfrey.

In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by a brother, Martin L. Pelfrey; and two sisters: Willie Mae Hunnicutt and Sara P. Schumacher.

The Funeral Service will be held at 3pm on Tuesday, February 22, 2011, in the Chapel of The McDougald Funeral Home conducted by the Reverend Ken Johnson and the Reverend Mike Harrell.  Interment will follow in Forest Lawn Memorial Park.

JOY LAUGHRIDGE

JUNE 28, 1924 – FEBRUARY 18, 2011

ANDERSON, SC—Joy Isabel Stone Laughridge, age 86, resident of Willow Creek Living Center in Iva, passed away on Friday, February 18, 2011, at the Rainey Hospice House in Anderson.

Born June 28, 1924, in Greenville, SC, she was a daughter of the late Odus Stone & Gladys Roe Stone Harling.  Mrs. Laughridge attended Winthrop College and was a homemaker. She was a member of Pope Drive Baptist Church.  Mrs. Laughridge truly gave joy & love to her family and friends throughout her life.

Survivors include her five children: a son, Jack W. Laughridge, Jr. and his son, Kab; a daughter, Joy Ann Ford and husband, Ben and their children: Thomas, Mark, & Crystal; a daughter, Jana Rosenbrock and her children: Justin & Evan; a son, James O. Laughridge and wife, Cathi and their children: Jamie & Murphy; a son, Jeff S. Laughridge and wife, Joy and their children: Farrah, Jeffrey, Hannah, and Collin; great grandchildren: Brandon, Heather, Brittany, John Thomas, Marcus, Whitney, Michael, Hannah, Madison, Hayden, Kamrin, Blake, Owen, & Declan;  great-great grandchildren: McKalla, Brayden, Brantley, & Serenity.  She is also survived by a half-sister, Mary Knight Woodward; and a special cousin, Isabell Foy Jenkinson and her children: Lee & Victor.

A Memorial Service will be held at 4pm on Tuesday, February 22, 2011, at Pope Drive Baptist Church, conducted by Dr. Mack Tester.

The family is at the home of Mr. & Mrs. James O. Laughridge, 207 Knoxwood Court, and will receive friends immediately following service.

VINCENT H. MAXWELL

March 28, 1928 – February 14, 2011

IVA, SC - Vincent Horace Maxwell, age 82, of 24 E. Central Avenue, Iva, husband of the late Martha Maxine Crittendon Maxwell, died Monday, February 14, 2011 at the Rainey Hospice House.

Born in Abbeville County, SC on March 28, 1928, Mr. Maxwell was the son of the late Zenith David Maxwell and Mamie Malydia Lowe Maxwell. He was a United States Army World II veteran and retired from Daniel Construction Company.  He attended Iva First Wesleyan Church.

Survivors include his son, Ken Maxwell; daughters, Vicki Eaton and her husband, Pete; Gail Barrett and her husband John, all of Iva and Debbie Hardy and her husband Doyle of Starr; 12 grandchildren and 27 great-grandchildren.

He was the last surviving member of his immediately family and was predeceased by a grandson, Dusty Maxwel

The Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, February 17, 2011 at 3:00 pm at Iva First Wesleyan Church officiated by the Reverends Dan Fortney, Steve Silvey and Gary Bill.  Interment will follow in Iva City Cemetery.

Mr. Maxwell will be taken to his residence on Wednesday at 11:00 am where the family will receive friends.  He will be placed in the church at 2:00 pm on Thursday.

ABBEVILLE, SC – Kelly Jean McMahan, age 34, of 244 Hwy 284, passed away on Monday, February 14, 2011.

Born June 18, 1976, in Anderson, SC, Kelly enjoyed various types of music as well as dancing and was an avid horseback riding fan.  She attended the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses.

Survivors include her mother, Ella Nadine Latham Hall and husband, Robert E. Hall, III “Bobby”, of the home; her children: Carley McMahan and Anthoney Martinez, both of the home; sister, Christie McMahan Gaylord and husband, Andrew and their children: Winston & Will, all of Iva, SC; brother, Travis Earl McMahan and wife, Elvia and their children: Sophia & Natalia, all of Jacksonville, FL; grandmother, Bonnie L. Latham of Iva, SC; stepsisters: Tara Hall & Sabrina Hall, both of Greenwood, SC; stepbrother, Bobby Hall, Jr. of Greenwood, SC; and a very dear longtime family friend, Bonnie Bohannon of Augusta, GA; as well as several aunts, uncles, nieces, & nephews.

She was predeceased by her father, Earl Cecil McMahan; and twin siblings: Bobby McMahan & Robby McMahan.

The Funeral Service will be held at 1pm on Wednesday, February 16, 2011, in the Chapel of The McDougald Funeral Home conducted by John Kidd.  Burial will follow in the Iva City Cemetery.

The family is at the home and will receive friends at the funeral home from 11am until 12:45pm on Wednesday, prior to the service.

Margaret Herron

Anderson - Margaret Voyles Herron, age 88, formerly of Whitehall Avenue, passed away Friday, February 11, 2011 at Magnolia Manor in Inman, SC.

Born in Central, SC to the late T. Voyles and Ollie Cothran Voyles, Mrs. Herron was a graduate of Central High School and Tri-County Technical College. She was the Founder and Executive Director of the Good Neighbor Cupboard in Anderson and Chairman of the World Food Day Committee for Anderson County. She received the Jefferson Award for Community Service. She was a member of Chesnee Wesleyan Church.

Survivors include two sons, Jerry Herron and his wife Doris of Easley, SC and Ernie Herron of Seneca, SC; two daughters, Rita Belcher and her husband Dan of Boiling Springs, SC and Wanda Hilley of Jacksonville, FL; a sister, Loma Cox of Liberty, SC; eight grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Herron was preceded in death by her husband, Clyde Jimmie Herron, a son, Jimmy Don Herron; a brother, Felix T. Voyles, and two sisters, Martha Craig and Lena Abercrombie.

The Funeral Service will be held Monday, February 14, 2011 at Noon in the Chapel of The McDougald Funeral Home with the Reverend Dan Belcher and Reverend Brent Herron officiating. Interment will follow in Mt. Zion Cemetery in Central, SC.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Monday, February 14, 2010 prior to the service from 10:30 AM until 11:30 AM.
