WILLIAM D. MARTIN, SR.

March 14, 1921 – October 24, 2010

Anderson, SC – William “Bill” David Martin, Sr., age 89, of 3930 Hwy. 413, passed away Sunday, October 24, 2010 at The Rainey Hospice House. 

Born on March 14, 1921 to the late Edgar Buist Martin and Ruth Lillian Ridgeway Martin, Mr. Martin was a graduate of Ellen Woodside High School in Greenville, SC and Clemson College. He retired from Owens-Corning Fiberglas after 30 years of service then worked for the Natural Resources Conservation Service. Mr. Martin was a farmer for most of his life. He was a member of Fairview Presbyterian Church in Fountain Inn, SC.

Survivors include his two sons, William D. Martin, Jr. and his wife Lou Ann, and Eddie Martin and his wife Pam, all of Anderson; two grandchildren, Anne Marie Martin and Will Martin, and a special friend, Kenneth Locke.

 In addition to his parents, Mr. Martin is predeceased by his wife, Mary Louise Smith Martin.

The Graveside Service will be held on Tuesday, October 26, 2010 at 4:00 pm in Fairview Presbyterian Church Cemetery with the Reverend Peter Spink officiating.

The family will receive friends following the service.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the church fund of one’s choice at Fairview Presbyterian Church, PO Box 1664, Fountain Inn, SC 29644.
