MAYBELLE C. CHAPMAN

ANDERSON – Maybelle Tapley Cox Chapman, 93, widow of the late Rev. Claude Chapman, died Tuesday, October 19, 2010 at Ellenburg Nursing Center.

Born in Atlanta, GA, she was the daughter of the late Joel and Emma Tapley. She was an active member of the Church of God her lifetime and a member of LaFrance Church of God for the past 30 years. She served as Sunday School teacher, choir member, participated in the ladies ministries and senior adult ministries.

Survivors include her daughter, Jeannette Cox James; grandchildren, Brad James and wife, Robbie, Stanley James and wife, Tonya, Lisa James Vaughn and husband, Tim; great grandchildren, Jason, Jennifer, Carissa Chey, and Savannah James; step-daughter, Helen Hightower; step-grandson, Allen Chapman; and two brothers, Dr. Earl Tapley of Denedin, FL, and Thomas Tapley of Atlanta, GA. 

Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at Forest Lawn Memorial Park with Rev. Lewis Stover officiating. The family will receive friends from 10:30 until 11 a.m. Thursday at the cemetery prior to the service. The family is at the home of her daughter, Jeannette James, 218 Hunters Lane, Anderson.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to LaFrance Church of God, Senior Adult Ministry, P.O. Box 480, LaFrance, SC 29656 or to Hospice of the Upstate, 1835 Rogers Road, Anderson, SC 29621.
