MRS. WILLENA C. McLAIN

APRIL 28, 1929 – OCTOBER 15, 2010

ANDERSON, SC – Mrs. Willena Cox “Moma”  McLain, of 905 Glenwood Avenue and  formerly of 134 Lions Park Road, Marietta, SC, passed from this life into eternal peace & joy on Friday, October 15, 2010, in Anderson, SC, at the Rainey Hospice House.  She was 81 years old.

Mrs. McLain was born on April 28th, 1929, in Marion, NC, and was a daughter of the late Charlie J. Cox and the late Maude Lewis Cox Walsh. She was the loving wife of the late Charles F. McLain with whom she shared fifty-eight years of marriage. Mrs. McLain retired from the Brandon Plant of Abney Mills in Greenville, SC.  She was a devout Roman Catholic and a member of Saint Joseph Roman Catholic Church in Anderson. She heard the call of Our Lord Jesus Christ and His Blessed Mother Mary and entered into full communion with the Holy Roman Catholic Church at the tender age of seventy-two.  Her life and faith were now complete with Jesus & Mary by her side to guide her into eternal life.

She was a loving mother and faithful wife; always putting others needs first and never considering her own needs.  Her beautiful laughter and glowing smile will be missed by all of her family and many friends.

Willena, affectionately known by many as “Moma”, is survived by a daughter, Juanita McLain of Conway, SC; a son, Michael McLain of Winnsboro, SC; and a son, caregiver, and “best buddy”, Gary McLain of the home.  Also surviving are three sisters: Charlie Mae McColl of McColl, SC, Rosi Turner and husband, Jimi, of Marietta, SC, and Brenda Riggs and husband, Curt, of Greenville, SC; six grandchildren, six great grandchildren, and many loving nieces and nephews also survive.

In addition to her loving husband and parents, she was predeceased by two sisters: Alene Mahaffey of Cartersville, GA, and Elizabeth Kohake of Travelers Rest, SC; four brothers: Pete Cox of Cartersville, GA, DeLos Cox of Union City, GA, Lee Roy Cox of Security, CO, and Thomas Cox of Easley, SC.

The Recitation of the Most Holy Rosary will be prayerfully prayed at 5:00 pm. The family will then receive friends in the Chapel of The McDougald Funeral Home until 9:00 pm on Friday, October 22, 2010.

The Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 3:00 pm on Saturday, October 23, 2010, at Saint Joseph Roman Catholic Church with the Reverend Father Aubrey McNeil, OFM, as the Celebrant.  The blessing of the crypt and entombment will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park Mausoleum, Chapel of Remembrance II, Highway 29 North, Anderson, SC.  The Reverends Lee P. Kennerly and William R. West, Jr. will assist.

Pallbearers will be Moyses Landeros, Bryan Kennedy, Frank Jacky, Walter Dacus, Lafayette Tiberghien, and Kelly Mullen.
