Concord Newest Dist. 5 Magnet School
Concord Elementary School, a newly named International Baccalaureate (IB) World School, has been approved as District Five’s newest magnet school, and will accept a limited number of out-of-zone students beginning in the 2010-2011 school year.
Applications for out-of-zone students wishing to attend Concord are now available at the school, at the District Office located at 400 Pearman Dairy Road and on the District Five Website atwww.Anderson5.net. Applications must be completed and submitted to Concord by 3 p.m. on Friday, May 21.
Concord received IB authorization last month. At a special meeting on Wednesday, April 28, the District Five Board of Trustees voted to designate Concord as a magnet school.
Approximately 58 seats will be available to out-of-zone students next year. Applicants will be selected based on parent and teacher recommendations and interviews by Concord administrators.
District Five’s other magnet schools are Calhoun Academy of the Arts, Nevitt Forest Community School of Innovation and Varennes Academy of Communications and Technology.
