Betty Rowell Moon Clark

Greenville, SC - Betty Rowell Moon Clark, age 84, of Greenville, SC, passed away on Sunday, August 03, 2014 at her home.

Born in Charlotte, NC, on February 8, 1930, she was the daughter of the late Samuel Wardlaw Rowell and the late Geneva Hunter Rowell.  Mrs. Clark was a homemaker.

She is survived by a son, Dennis Moon; daughter, Diane (Bobby) Roper; brother, Don Rowell, Sr.; grandchildren, Kevin (Melissa) Roper, Chaz (Brooke) Moon, Dekker Moon; great-granddaughter, Monroe Roper.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded by her first husband, Milton Moon and her second husband, Carlton Clark.

The Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday, August 5, 2014 at 3:30 pm in the Chapel of The McDougald Funeral Home.  Interment will follow in New Silver Brook Cemetery.  The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 2:30 pm until 3:30 pm prior to the service.

Pat Sellers

Anderson, SC - Patricia Margaret Theisen Sellers, 84, of 1108 Cobbs Glen Drive, died Sunday, August 3, 2014 at the Rainey Hospice House.

Born April4, 1930 in Park Rapids, Minnesota, she was the daughter of the late John and Rose Pfeiffer Theisen. She was a graduate of The College of St. Scholastica in Duluth, Minnesota and received a Masters Degree in Nursing from the University of South Carolina. She was a retired nursing instructor at Clemson University and Lander University. Mrs. Sellers was appointed by Governor Riley to serve on the State Education Board. She was a member of St. Mary’s of the Angels Catholic Church.

Survivors include her husband of 60 years, Bobby Sellers of the home; four children, Mary Sharpe and husband, Woody of Atlanta, Ga., Robert Sellers and wife, Julie of Florence, Lynne Martin and husband, Alex, and Michele Hyndman and husband, Mark, all of Anderson; seven grandchildren; five great grandchildren; and three brothers, John J. Theisen, James (Jim) Theisen and wife, Judy, all of Park Rapids, Minnesota and Larry Theisen and wife, Annette of Danville, California.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, August 6, 2014 at Sullivan-King Mortuary Chapel, 3205 North Highway 81, Anderson. The family will receive friends at the mortuary following the service. The family is at the home of Lynne and Alex Martin, 406 Holly Creek Drive, Anderson.

Georgia Hamlet

Anderson - Georgia Lucille Hamlet, 92, formerly of Sheldon Drive, died Monday, May 19, 2014 at NHC of Anderson.

Born September 14, 1921 in Anderson, she was the daughter of the late Sam and Mattie Lou Griffin Hamlet. She was a retired school teacher and was a longtime member of First Baptist Church of Anderson where she served as church librarian and historian.

She was the last surviving member of her immediate family and is survived by her friends at The Garden House and her First Baptist Church family.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Samuel Woodrow “Billy” Hamlet.

Graveside services will be held at 3 p.m. Tuesday at Old Silver Brook Cemetery conducted by Dr. James R. Thomason. 

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to First Baptist Church, 307 South Manning Street, Anderson, SC 29624.

Raymond Cecil "Trey" Hanks

Anderson - Raymond Cecil "Trey" Hanks III, 28, of 1807 Old Pearman Dairy Road, died Tuesday, April 22, 2014 at Greenville Memorial Hospital.

Born February 4, 1986 in Anderson, he was the son of Raymond C. Hanks, Jr. and Donna Rogers Hanks. He was self-employed.

Survivors include his father and stepmother, Raymond and Robyn Hanks of Starr; mother, Donna R. Hanks; son, Raymond C. "Troy" Hanks IV and his mother, Morrise Mitchell; sister, Amy Hanks Eskew; brother, Rhett Hanks; grandparents, William and Mary Rogers; Janelle Hanks; niece, Anna Eskew; aunts and uncle, Deborah and Ronnie Gambrell, Gary and Debbie Cole, and Claudene Elrod, all of Anderson.

He was preceded in death by his daughter, Bailey Lou Hanks and his grandfather, Raymond C. Hanks, Sr.

Funeral services will be held at 4 p.m. Friday at Sullivan-King Mortuary Chapel conducted by Rev. Mark Gasque. The family will receive friends at the mortuary following the service. Family members are at their respective homes.

Malva Alaine Herring King

Anderson - Malva Alaine Herring King, 57, of Anderson, died Tuesday, April 22, 2014 at AnMed Health Medical Center.

Born March 19, 1957 in Anderson, she was the daughter of Sara Martin Herring of Anderson and the late Mavis Herring. 

Survivors include her husband, Reynaldo Gonzalez; mother, Sara Herring; daughter, Dawn Burton and husband, Rod of Anderson; two grandchildren, Chase and Tanner Burton; and two sisters, Betty Schoen of Anderson and Patricia Ray of Williamston. 

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday at Sullivan-King Mortuary Chapel conducted by Dr. Jack Couch. Burial will follow in Oaklawn Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 1 until 2 p.m. Thursday at the mortuary. The family is at the home of Dawn and Rod Burton, 507 Cathey Road, Anderson.

Sally Osteen Cochran

Anderson, SC - Sally Osteen Cochran, 68, widow of Harry Francis Cochran, died Saturday, March 29, 2014 at AnMed Health Medical Center.

Born October 29, 1945 in Anderson, she was the daughter of the late Percy Cummings Osteen, Jr. and Sarah Elise Campbell Osteen. She was a graduate of Girl's High School and Limestone College. Mrs. Cochran was owner and operator of Belvedere Cinema for a number of years and was currently working with Draisen Edwards Music. She was a Sustainer Member of the Junior League and was an avid Clemson supporter. She was a mentor in Anderson School District #5. Mrs. Cochran was a member of Christ Church Evangelical Presbyterian and was a former member of Central Presbyterian Church where she served as a Deacon, Elder and was a leader in the children's music and choir program. A devoted wife and mother, she was kind, compassionate, loved by many and loved the Lord. 

Survivors include two daughters, Susan Cochran Moser and husband, Craig of Anderson and Anna O. Cochran of Piedmont; and two sisters, Nancy Osteen Kay of Portsmouth, Va. and Mary Osteen Mills of Anderson. 

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Christ Church Evangelical Presbyterian, 3120 North Highway 81, Anderson conducted by Rev. Thomas Pitman and Dr. David J. Bailey. Burial will follow in New Silver Brook Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m. Tuesday at Sullivan-King Mortuary. The family is at the home of Susan and Craig Moser, 110 Cedar Pond Road, Anderson.

Mary Doris Craig

HONEA PATH, SC-- Mrs. Mary Doris Wilson Craig, 91, of 302 Tribble St., widow of the Rev. Norton Craig, went to be with the Lord Monday, March 24, 2014 at Ashlan Village in Lyman.

Born in Central, S.C., she was a daughter of the late Guy and Christine Gillespie Wilson. She was a member of the Honea Path First Baptist Church and a member of the Joy Sunday School Class. She served along side her husband in the ministry at several churches in South Carolina and North Carolina. She was a homemaker and was also employed by Belk Simpson and Peebles Retail Store.

Surviving are one son, John Wilson Craig and wife Karen of Spartanburg; three daughters, Jane Pruitt and husband Douglas, Judy Pruitt and husband Kenneth, all of Honea Path, and Peggy Howell and husband Ken of Burnsville, NC; two brothers, James C. Wilson and Donald Wilson; one sister, Hilda Hicks; five grandchildren, Jana Lott (Jeff), Tony Pruitt, Craig Howell, Kimberly Grey Bedenbaugh (Chris) and Mary Margaret Smith (Jammie); 11 great-grandchildren: Adam Brown, Cory Brown, Jenny Daley, Viktoria Lott, Kristina Lott, Allison Pruitt, Bailey Smith, Bryson Smith, Makina Smith, Madysen Bedenbaugh and Sophia Bedenbaugh. She is predeceased by one son, Larry Paul Craig; two brothers, John D. Wilson and Garrison Wilson, and one great-grandson, John Anthony Pruitt.

Funeral Services will be held at 3 p.m. Thursday at the Honea Path First Baptist Church with the Rev. Mike Moody, the Rev. Willie Honea and Mr. John Craig officiating. Burial will follow in Keowee Baptist Church Cemetery.

Betty Fant

Anderson, SC - Elizabeth Byrd Fant (Betty) of Anderson peacefully slipped away to be with her Lord, Jesus Christ on March 20, 2014. Betty was predeceased by her husband of 64 years, Charles W. Fant, Jr. who passed away December 7, 2013. She is survived by her two children, Betsy Jones (Greg) of Charleston, SC and Charles Fant, III (Jill) of Anderson, SC.  Betty boasted of her four grandchildren and two great grandchildren (to whom she was affectionately known as “moremama”):  Chase Jones (Colleen) and son Callan of Mt. Pleasant, SC and Sara Whitfield (Adam) and son Stafford of James Island, SC; Chas Fant (Amy) of Boston, MA and Bethany Moore (Nate) of Jacksonville, FL. 

Mrs. Fant was born March 14, 1927 the daughter of Edward and Evelyn Hughey Byrd. She graduated from Kingstree High School, attended Coker College and later graduated from Winthrop College.  Her senior year at Winthrop she was in the May Court and was Honorary Cadet Colonel at Clemson College (“Sweetheart of the Corps”) in 1949. Upon graduation, she moved to Anderson to work as the full time nutritionist for Anderson Memorial Hospital.  She met Charlie Fant that year and they were married November 12, 1949. 

Betty was a (lifelong) member of the First Baptist Church of Anderson, serving others in many roles at the church.  She was a Circle Leader, Co-Chaired the flower committee for many years, and taught a singles Sunday School Class with her beloved husband Charlie.  She attended the Church’s Bible Study and a Woman’s Community Bible Study for over 25 years. 

In the Anderson Community, Betty was a member of the Junior Assembly, several Garden Clubs, and a sewing club.  She delivered Meals on Wheels for many years, and mentored students at Calhoun Street Elementary School.  Betty was an avid gardener, and loved cooking for her family.

The family will receive friends at the home at 2702 Bellview Road on Saturday from 2 p.m.-4 p.m. A Memorial Service celebrating her life will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday at the First Baptist Church of Anderson at 307 Manning Street.

JOYCE SCOTT

ANDERSON – Mae Joyce Pressley Scott, age 74, wife of Julian Leroy Scott, departed from this life to be with her Lord and Savior on Saturday, March 15, 2014 at AnMed Health Medical Center. 

Born in Iva, SC, on December 27, 1939 she was the daughter of the late David Pressley and the late Mary Zou Reynolds Pressley.  She graduated from Crescent High School in 1957.  Mrs. Scott was the owner of Just Kids Child Care for over 25 years; she also worked for Rocky River Mill in Calhoun Falls.  She was a member of Smyrna Methodist Church and enjoyed her Friday nights at the Lowndesville Opry.  

In addition to her husband, she is survived by her children; Yvette Ruzicka (Dennis) of Anderson, Lajuana Smith of Townville, Melvin Alexander of Iva, Ken Scott of Greer, Scotty Alexander (Debora) of Iva and Jason Alexander of Iva; eleven grandchildren and thirteen great-grandchildren. 

The Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday, March 18, 2014 at 2:00 pm in the Chapel of The McDougald Funeral Home, with the Reverend Eric Smith and Reverend Loudez Belk officiating. Interment will follow in Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens in Abbeville.  

The family will be at the residence and will receive friends on Monday, March 17, 2014 at The McDougald Funeral Home from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm.

W. Hewell Pridmore

Anderson, SC - Wilton Hewell Pridmore, age 87, of Anderson, passed away on Friday, March 14, 2014 at the Rainey Hospice House. 

Born in Greenville County, SC, he was the son of the late Samuel Dewitt Pridmore and the late Grace Martin Pridmore.  He proudly served his country in the United States Navy.  He retired from AnMed Health as the Director of Linen Services. Prior to that position, he owned and operated a dry cleaning business with his father in Greenville, SC.  He was a member of Boulevard Baptist Church, an original cast member of the Anderson Senior Follies and enjoyed working with stained glass. 

He is survived by his wife, Janice Jaynes Pridmore; his children, Sandra Pridmore Burton of Mauldin, SC, Sherry Pridmore Sikes of Claxton, GA, and David Hewell Pridmore of Spartanburg, SC; a brother, James Martin Pridmore of Fairburn, GA; five grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Edna Atkins Pridmore; a brother, Ernest (Jack) Haynie Pridmore; and a grandson, Marcus David Pridmore.

The family will be at the residence and will receive friends at Boulevard Baptist Church on Monday, March 17, 2014 from 9:30 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. The funeral service will follow at 11:30 a.m. with Reverend Dr. Jack Couch officiating.  Interment will follow at Woodlawn Memorial Park Cemetery in Greenville with Military Honors at 3:00 p.m.  Serving as Honorary Escorts will be the Anderson Senior Follies and AnMed Health Lab Couriers.

O’NELL CHARLOTTE KELLAM

ANDERSON, SC - O’Nell Charlotte Kellam, age 60, passed away on Saturday, March 15, 2014 at the Rainey Hospice House.

Born in Anderson, SC, on May 12, 1953, she was the daughter of the late Rolland Cecil Kellam and Nettie Ruth Smith Kellam.  She attended Belton- Honea Path High School and graduated from Westside High School.  She was employed at Wometco Vending and had formerly attended Garner Memorial Baptist Church.

She is survived by her brothers: Thomas L. Kellam (Margaret) of Knoxville, TN, Rufus E. Kellam(Esperanza) of Knoxville, TN and Robin B. Kellam(Nadia) of Athens, GA; sisters, Mary E. Cleveland of Anderson, SC , Susan K. McKee of Belton, SC and Abigail V. Stone of Anderson, SC. She was a loving Aunt to two nieces and three nephews. 

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Rolland C. Kellam, Jr. (Scooter) and her brother-in-law, Steve McKee.

The Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday, March 18, 2014 at 3:30 pm in the Chapel of the McDougald Funeral Home, with Dr. Jack Couch officiating.  Interment will follow in New Silver Brook Cemetery. The family will receive friends prior to the service at the funeral home from 2:00 pm until 3:30 pm.

Jean Ray Brock

Anderson, SC - Jean Ray Brock, wife of Robert S. Brock, quietly passed away on Wednesday, March 12, 2014.

Born June 19, 1932 in Hart County, Ga., she was the daughter of the late Charles H. Ray and Evelyn Moorhead Ray Sease. She was a 1950 graduate of Honea Path High School, and also a 1953 graduate of Erskine College. She retired from Anderson School District 5 in 1992 as an elementary teacher. She is fondly remembered by many of her former students that she taught during her career. She was a long-time member of First Baptist Church of Anderson. 

In addition to her husband, she is survived by two daughters, Jane Brock Stone (husband, Brad) of Macon, Ga., and Beth Brock Armstrong of Newport News, Va. She is also survived by granddaughters Katie Stone, Haley Ray Armstrong, and grandson, Robert Stone.

Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday at Sullivan-King Mortuary Chapel conducted by Dr. James R. Thomason. A private graveside will be held at the Garden of Memories following the service. The family will receive friends from 2 until 3 p.m. Sunday at the mortuary, 3205 North Highway 81, Anderson. The family is at the residence, 149 Elliott Circle, Anderson.
