JACOB HAWKINS

September 22, 1941 – February 4, 2010

Jacob Tyler “Bud” Hawkins, Jr., age 68, of 417 Cedarwood Lane, died Thursday, February 4, 2010 at his residence.

Born in Anderson, SC on September 22, 1941, Mr. Hawkins was the son of the late Jacob Tyler Hawkins, Sr., and Stella Mae Davis Hawkins. 

He is survived by a sister, Jean Sims Watkins of Anderson; nephew, Joseph Sims, III of Pelzer; aunts, Vera Cathey and Cleo Foster, both of Anderson; great-niece, Ashley Miller of Iva and numerous cousins.

The Funeral Service will be held on Sunday, February 7, 2010 at 1:30 pm at Gospel Land Missionary Chapel officiated by the Reverend Robert Durham and Reverend Rhonda Anusevitch.  Interment will follow in Old Silver Brook Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at the church on Sunday from 1:00 until 1:30 pm before the funeral service.

NANCY SPAKE

FEBRUARY 10, 1946 – FEBRUARY 4, 2010

BELTON, SC – Nancy P. Elrod Spake, age 63, of 1006 Whiten Road, passed away on Thursday, February 4, 2010, at her home.

Born in Bessemer, NC, on February 10, 1946, she was a daughter of the late Levi Manley and Lillie Burdette Manley.  She was a retired CNA having worked at Ellenburg Nursing Home.  She was also a member of Hillcrest Baptist Church in Williamston.

Survivors include her husband, Edward Glenn Spake; children: Glenn Edward Spake and wife, Sharon Spake of Pendleton, Whitney Fleming and husband, Noah Fleming of Anderson, Robert Lee Elrod of Anderson, Rita Lynn Hammond of Anderson, and Vicky Darlene Whitten of Anderson; grandchildren: Lauren Barnes, Brittany Whitten, and Allison Elrod; great grandchildren: Mikayla Griffin, Bryce Fleming, Lillie P. Fleming, Elizabeth Spake, Seth Elrod, and Aubrey Barnes; sisters: Eunice Lawson of Bristow, OK, Juanita Kay of Anderson, Iris Cothran of Anderson, Diane Manley of Anderson, Deanie Ellison of Williamston, and Kathy Becker of Belton; sisters-in-law: Bobbie Jean Saylors of Anderson, Donnie Lollis of Anderson, Jewerell Skelton of Anderson, Billie Alverson of Honea Path, and Frances Wallace of Anderson. 

She was also predeceased by a brother, H.F. Harvey; and a sister, Mary Ann Fleming.

The Funeral Service will be held at 2pm on Sunday, February 7, 2010, in the Chapel of The McDougald Funeral Home conducted by the Reverend David Cox.  Interment will follow in New Silver Brook Cemetery.

The family is at the home and will receive friends at the funeral home from 6pm until 8pm on Saturday, February 6, 2010.

DAVID C. ELLISON  

CARNESVILLE, GA – David Carlton Ellison, 61, of 6465 Stonebridge Road, died Tuesday, February 2, 2010 at his residence.

Born May 13, 1948 in Anderson County, SC,  he was the son of the late Carl Martin and Wilma Elrod Ellison. He was a cattle dealer, was owner of Franklin County Livestock, and previously owned Palmetto Livestock in Anderson for 20 years. He was a member of Six & Twenty Baptist Church.

Survivors include three sons, Chad Ellison of Pelzer, Daniel Ellison of Anderson, and Clay Ellison and wife, Stacey of Anderson; four grandchildren, Alaina Simmons, Kade Ellison, Jude and Elleigh Rae Ellison; two sisters, Jean Browning of Williamston, Anne Rhodes of Anderson; and one brother, Robert Ellison of Bartlett, TN.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at Sullivan-King Mortuary, Northeast Chapel, conducted by Rev. Tommy Childress. Entombment will be in Forest Lawn Memorial Park Mausoleum. The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m. Thursday at the mortuary, 3205 North Highway 81, Anderson. Family members are at their respective homes.

LILLIE H. HALL

ANDERSON – Lillie Mae Harbin Hall, 94, widow of Louie Hall, died Tuesday, February 2, 2010 at the Rainey Hospice House. 

Born June 26, 1915 in Anderson, she was the daughter of the late Lenord and Fanny Stasney Harbin. She was retired from Abney Mills and member of Gethsemane Baptist Church. 

Surviving are her brother, George Harbin and sister, Kathleen Rowland both of Anderson. She was preceded in death by 5 brothers, Ernest, Clyde, Wade, Fred and Earl Harbin and 2 sisters, Dora Crocker and Josephine Neal. 

Funeral service will be held at 3pm Wednesday at Sullivan-King Mortuary, Downtown Chapel with Rev. Dennis Parker officiating. Burial will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park. The family will receive friends Wednesday from 2 until 3pm prior to the service. The family is at their respective homes.

Larry Donnell Ellis

Mr. Larry Donnell Ellis age 58, of 118 Brookside Circle Belton S.C. died Monday February 01, 2010. He is a native of Anderson County and was the son of the late Esau Ellis and Mary Ligon Ellis.
He was a 1969 Graduate of Geer-Gant High School, and a member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church. 
Survivors include one daughter Lashella Ellis. Three sons, Terry James, Jason Ellis, and Tracy James. Three sisters, Jane Griffin, Robbie Latimer, and Isabel Hughes. One brother Jimmy Ellis. 
Memorial services will be held Friday at 3:00 P.M. at Mt. Zion Baptist Church. Holloway’s Funeral Home of Belton S.C. is in charge of arrangements.   The family is at home of Tanisha Latimer Davis 107 Brookside Circle Honea Path S.C.

Mary Ellen Blackwell Mauldin

May 10, 1930—January 31, 2010

Anderson, SC- Mrs. Mary Ellen Blackwell Mauldin, age 79, formerly of 1010 Brown Road, wife of the late Wayne “Buddy” Mauldin, died Sunday, January 31, 2010 at NHC.

Born in Anderson County, she was a daughter of the late William Fletcher Blackwell and Dolia Iona Bowen Blackwell. Survivors include her son, Dwayne Matthew Johnson; two grandchildren, Rebecca Johnson and Dwayne Matthew Johnson, Jr.; five great-grandchildren; brothers, Eugene and Dewitt Blackwell; sisters, Margaret Jones, Evelyn Sisco, Alice Hendrix and Pearl Tharrington. She was preceded in death by three brothers and one sister.

A graveside service will be held at 2pm on Friday, February 5, 2010 at Forest Lawn Memorial Park officiated by Dr. Darla L. Wisler. The family will receive friends from 12:30pm-1: 30pm on Friday at The McDougald Funeral Home.

CARLENE C. ANDES

ANDERSON- Carlene Creasy Andes, 72, of Anderson, widow of the late A.E. “Gene” Andes, Jr., died Monday February 1, 2010 at Greenville, SC.

Born December 19, 1937 in Bluefield, WV, she was the daughter of the late Carl English and Pauline Duncan Creasy. 

Surviving are her 2 daughters: Karen Andes McDaniel and Angie Andes Kelley and her husband, Tom all of Anderson; granddaughter, Dedra McDaniel Jones and husband, Bradley of Kingsport, TN; 2 grandsons: Bryce and Layne Kelley of Anderson; nephew, Paul English Creasy and sister-in-law, Marla Creasy. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Victor “Gene” Creasy.

Visitation will be held Wednesday from 5 until 8 PM at the home of her daughter and son-in-law, Angie and Tom Kelley, 101 Caversham Lane, Anderson.

GAIL M. FITZPATRICK

March 24, 1948 – February 1, 2010

BELTON, SC -Gail McCurry Fitzpatrick, age 61, wife of the Reverend Mike Fitzpatrick of 1126-B Blue Ridge Avenue, passed away on Monday, February 1, 2010 at the Rainey Hospice House.

Born in Anderson, SC on March 24, 1948, Mrs. Fitzpatrick was a daughter of the late James Henry McCurry, Jr., and Mildred Ruth Middleton McCurry.  She was a 1966 graduate of McDuffie High School and was a beautician.  She also worked at Electrolux Corporation and Michelin Tire Manufacturing.  She was a member of Broadway Lake Baptist and for many years, she and her husband were active members of Varennes Heights Baptist Church.

She is survived by her husband, Reverend Mike Fitzpatrick of the home; daughter, Josie F. Henderson and her husband, Robert, and their two children, Kaylee Gail Henderson and Austin Michael Craft; sister, Nancy Harris and her husband, Ray and their son, J.  R. Harris.

The Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, February 4, 2010 at 3:00 pm in the Chapel of The McDougald Funeral Home officiated by the Reverend Early Tucker and the Reverend Mike Fitzpatrick.  Interment will follow in New Silver Brook Cemetery.

Anne Simmons

November 14, 1918-February 1, 2010

Anderson, SC- Mrs. Anne Mae Worrell Simmons, age 91, wife of the late Arthur F. Simmons, of 200 Maplewood Road, died Monday, February 1, 2010 at her residence.

Born in East Tallassee, AL, she was a daughter of the late Joseph Preston Worrell and Mary Lucile Ray Worrell. She retired from AnMed Health Medical Center as a secretary. Anne was a member of St. John’s United Methodist Church for 50 years, where she taught in the Child Development Center and was an avid volunteer for the Anderson Free Clinic.

Survivors include her children, Robert Lee (Margaret), Tom Lee (Lynn), Mike Lee (Mary), Don Lee and Carol Hunt (Paul); 12 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; brother, Everett Worrell; sisters, Nancy Hicks, Barbara Worrell, Sara Newton and Frances Jones.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by a son, Everett Lee; five brothers and two sisters.

The Funeral Service will be held at 1pm on Thursday, February 4, 2010 at St. John’s United Methodist Church officiated by Dr. William R. Childs. Interment will follow in Graceland West Cemetery, Greenville, SC.

INGOLF A. STUGG

ANDERSON – Ingolf Albert Stugg, 67, of 410 Ashley Downs, husband of Sonja Maria Stugg, died Thursday, January 28, 2010 at AnMed Health Medical Center.

Born January 23, 1943 in Wallerfangen, Germany, he was the son of the late Max and Alma Else Olga Ferber Himbert. He was a retired engineer from Michelin and was the owner and operator of All Starr Liquor and Wine on Clemson Boulevard and Hwy 81 N. He was a professional soccer player for Borussia Neunkirchen and Semi-professional Coach and Player for TSU Hargesheim in Germany.   He was one of the founders and a coach of The Anderson Kicker’s Club and a former member of Abiding Savior Lutheran Church.

Surviving are his wife, Sonja; 2 sons, Dirk Stugg and his wife, Patricia of Wilmington, NC and Heiko Stugg and his wife, Joy of Greer and 2 granddaughters, Stephanie and Natasha Stugg. 

A memorial service will be held 3pm Friday at Sullivan-King Mortuary, Northeast Chapel with Dr. Lee Bond officiating. The family will receive friends from 2 until 3pm Friday prior to the service at the mortuary. The family is at their respective homes.

Gertrude Poore

September 19, 1924—February 1, 2010

Anderson, SC- Mrs. Gertrude Margaret Crumpton Poore, age 85, formerly of 114 Sedgefield Court, died Monday, February 1, 2010 at National Health Care.

Born in Walhalla, SC, she was a daughter of the late Wade Will Crumpton and Lillie Slatton Crumpton. Mrs. Poore retired from Clark-Schwebel in June of 1989.

Surviving are two sons and daughters-in-law, Larry and Linda Poore of Anderson and Marcell and Cathy Poore of Simpsonville; three grandchildren, Donna (Gregg) Garrison, Travis Poore, and Matt (Kimberly) Poore; three great-grandchildren, Haley Garrison, Austin and Caleb Poore; sister, Mrs. Charles “Dorothy” Cleveland of Anderson. She was predeceased by three brothers, Wade E. Crumpton, Harold L. Crumpton and Leonard R. Crumpton.

A Graveside Service will be held at 3pm on Wednesday, February 3, 2010 at Forest Lawn Memorial Park officiated by Reverend Gordon Taylor.
