EVA MARIE HUTCHINSON

February 29, 1910 – November 19, 2010

LOWNDESVILLE, SC - Miss Eva Marie Hutchinson, age 94 of 53 Charles Creek Road, died Friday, November 19, 2010 at the Abbeville Area Medical Center in Abbeville. 

Born in Lowndesville, SC on February 29, 1916, Miss Hutchinson was a daughter of the late Mallie B. Hutchinson and Mary Lou Kelly Hutchinson.  She was a graduate of Lowndesville High School and the Anderson Hospital School of Nursing.  She was a nurse at the hospitals in Anderson, Easley, Oconee, Abbeville and John de la Howe School.  She enjoyed working with her hands doing gardening, quilting and crocheting.

She was a member of Providence Presbyterian Church, Lowndesville, SC.

She will be missed by many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great nephews. 

In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by brothers, B. B. Hutchinson, Bandon Hutchinson and Alvin Hutchinson and sisters, Frances Blecher, Catherine Hutchinson and Ruth McCarley.

The Funeral Service will be held on Sunday, November 21, 2010 at 3:00 pm at Providence Presbyterian Church officiated by the Reverend Lee P. Kennerly.  Interment will follow in the church cemetery. 

The family will receive friends at the church on Sunday from 2:00 pm until 3:00 pm.

The family would like to thank the nursing staff in the ICU of the Abbeville Area Medical Center for their care and compassion they have shown to Miss Hutchinson.

LOTTIE JORDAN

AUGUST 17, 1920 – NOVEMBER 19, 2010

BELTON, SC – Lattrell “Lottie” Ayers Jordan, age 90, widow of Ralph Leon Jordan, of 117 Lowe Street, went home to be with the Lord on Friday, November 19, 2010, at the Rainey Hospice House.  She was the last surviving member of her immediate family. 

Born in Franklin County, GA, she was the daughter of the late John W. & Minnie Burgess Ayers.  She was a member of Eastview Baptist Church.

Surviving are her daughters: Bobbie J. Smith and husband, Harold Carl Smith, and Shirley J. Young and husband, Donald E. Young, all of Belton; grandchildren: Teresa Y. Cothran and husband, Keith Cothran, Ginger Y. Hiott and husband, Eddie Hiott, and Ronald L. Smith and wife, Ann B. Smith; and eight great-grandchildren, and eight great-great grandchildren.

She was predeceased by her grandson, Richard C. Smith; and brothers: Curtis Ayers and C.T. Ayers; and sisters: Johnnie Sue Merritt and Maxie V. Hemphill.

The Funeral Service will be held at 3 pm on Sunday, November 21, 2010, in the Chapel of The McDougald Funeral Home conducted by the Reverend Greg Black.  Interment will follow in the Garden of Memories. 

The family is at the home of Bobbie & Carl Smith, 1306 Anderson Street, Belton, and will receive friends at The McDougald Funeral Home from 1:30 pm until 2:30 pm on Sunday.

GENE CASH, SR

ANDERSON – Thomas Eugene “Gene” Cash, Sr., 49, of Easley, formerly of Piedmont, went to be with the Lord, Wednesday, November 17, 2010 at the Rainey Hospice House. God saw his health failing, no cure in sight. So He took his hand and said, “Come with Me, Gene”. 

Born January 14, 1961 in Greenville, he was the son of Barbara Jean Hendrix Cash and the late George D. Cash, Sr. He was the owner and operator of Cash & Sons Trucking. He was a member of the Hejaz Shrine Temple and loved to play golf. He was a member of Piedmont Heights Baptist Church. 

In addition to his mother, he is survived by his son, Thomas “Gene” Cash, Jr. of Myrtle Beach; brother, Donnie Cash of Greenville; twin sisters, Cindy Driskill of Greenville and Sandy Campbell of Elberton and special beloved friend, Belinda Chastain.

A celebration of life will be held at 4pm Saturday at Sullivan-King Mortuary, Northeast Chapel with Evangelist Joe Campbell officiating. The family will receive friends following the service at the Legacy Retirement Center, 3501 Hwy 81 N.

MARY CAMPBELL NICHOLS

ANDERSON - Mary Lois Campbell Nichols, 86, died Tuesday, November 16, 2010 at her home.

Born January 5, 1924 in Due West, she was the daughter of the late Dewey and Lydia Smith Campbell. She was a retired seamstress and was a member of Asaville Baptist Church.

Survivors include her husband, James Ervin “Wayne” Nichols of the home; two daughters, Brenda Joyce Campbell of the home, and Mary Ellen Philyaw and husband, Skeeter of Anderson; three grandchildren, Michelle David and husband, Rick, Tonia Toney and husband, Luke, and Michael Potts; eight great grandchildren; and one brother, Julian Campbell of Shoals Junction.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Charlie Lewis, two brothers, Lyndberg Campbell and Harold Campbell, and a sister, Ruby McConnell.

Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Friday at First Creek Baptist Church conducted by Rev. Donnie Murdock. Burial will be in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 2 until 3 p.m. Friday at the church. The family is at the residence.

The family would like to express their appreciation to the staff of Hospice of the Upstate for their excellent care provided to Mrs. Nichols and the family.

CHARLES PATTERSON

October 18, 1925 – November 16, 2010   

ANDERSON, SC - Charles Wesley Patterson, Jr., age 85, husband of Mary Ellen Bodie Patterson of 304 Meadow Park, died Tuesday, November 16, 2010 at the AnMed Health Medical Center.

Born in Clinton, SC, he was a son of the late Charles Wesley Patterson, Sr., and Mary Jane White Patterson.  He was a 1942 graduate of Spartanburg High School and was an honor graduate of Clemson University with a degree in textile engineering.  Mr. Patterson served in the United States Marine Corps in World War II.  He worked in the textile industry for many years, having worked at the Millikin Corporation, the Inman Mill and Abney Mills.  He was a member of the Inman Rotary Club, the Belton Gun Club and was active in Genealogy Research.  He was an active member of Concord Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife of the home; son, Chuck Patterson and friend, Shirley McAlister of Anderson; daughters, Nancy P. Desing and her husband, Mike of Piedmont; and Kelly P. Bostic and her husband, Sean of Anderson; four grandchildren, Sarah and Lauren Desing and Meghan and Patrick Bostic. 

In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by brothers, James D. Patterson and Albert L. Patterson.

The Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, November 18, 2010 at 3:00 pm at Concord Baptist Church officiated by Dr. Don Cox.  A private family entombment will be at Oaklawn Memorial Park Mausoleum.  

The family will be at the residence and will receive friends at the Church on Thursday from 1:30 pm until 2:30 pm.

JAMES R. McENTYRE, SR.

MARCH 26, 1919 – NOVEMBER 15, 2010

BELTON, SC – James Robert McEntyre, Sr., age 91, husband of the late Helen Daniel McEntyre, went home to be with his Lord on November 15, 2010.

Born in Greenwood, he was the son of the late Lloyd Torrance McEntyre and Cora Ivester McEntyre.  He retired from the textiles industry, having been employed by Abney Mills and the Lowenstein Plant.  Mr. McEntyre served in the United States Army during World War II and was a member of the Belton Church of God. 

Survivors include his sons: James Robert “Jimmy” McEntyre and his wife, Janice of Anderson, SC, and Donnie R. McEntyre and his wife, Linda of Honea Path, SC; grandchildren: Tracy, Shawn, & Brandon McEntyre, and Kevin McEntyre & Lisa Nixon; great grandchildren: Danielle McEntyre, Jordan & Savannah Nixon.  He is also survived by a sister, Willie Embler of Anderson.

The Funeral Service will be held at 3pm on Wednesday, November 17, 2010, at the Belton Church of God conducted by the Reverend Paul Herring and Dr. J. Charles Smith.  Interment will follow in New Silver Brook Cemetery.

The family is at the home, 121 Lowe Street, and will receive friends at the Church from 2pm until 3pm on Wednesday.

DORIS F. FENNER

ANDERSON, SC - Doris Florence Hodge Fenner, 79, of 190 Wexford Dr., died Monday, November 15, 2010 at AnMed Health Medical Center.

Born October 5, 1931 in North Plainfield, NJ, she was the daughter of the late Harold and Wilhelmina Kulhken Hodge. She was a retired administrative assistant with Alcan-Toyo America. 

Surviving are her daughter, Deborah Lepore and her husband, Victor of Anderson; 3 sons, Gregory Fenner of Albuquerque, NM, Michael Fenner and his wife, Christine of Manassas, VA and Timothy Fenner of CO; 11 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a sister, Winifred Herring.

JIM LANNING

January 25, 1943 – November 10, 2010

ANDERSON, SC - James Lee Lanning, age 67, of 2600 Millgate Road, died Wednesday, November 10, 2010 at the Rainey Hospice House.

Born in Zanesville, Ohio on January 25, 1943, Mr. Lanning was a son of the late Joseph Lanning and Goldie Milatovich Lanning.  He retired from Rockwell International with 33 years of service.  He was a past member of the American Legion, the Elks Club and  Moose Lodge.  He was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church and the Kionano Sunday School class. Jim enjoyed life with his family and friends and was an avid golfer and card player.

He is survived by his wife of forty years, Sharon Brandon Lanning of the home; children, Beverly Kopac and her husband, Martin of Raleigh, NC; Scott Lanning and his companion, Holly Grier of Asheville, NC and Angela Wood and her husband, Allen of Waynesville, NC; sister, Shirley Hutchins of Sun City, FL; four grandchildren, Kyle, Sammy, Cody and Dawson.

He was predeceased by brothers, Larry and Charles Lanning.

The Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, November 13, 2010 at 11:30 am at Trinity United Methodist Church officiated by Reverend Paul Frey. 

The family will be at the residence and will receive friends at The McDougald Funeral Home on Saturday, November 13, 2010 from 10:00 am until 11:00 am.

BELTON, SC - Martha Juanita D. Ward, age 74 of 3224 Highway 29 North, died Tuesday, November 9, 2010 at her residence.

Born in Pulaski, TN on October 31, 1936, Mrs. Ward was a daughter of the late Felton Y. Dunivant and Maggie Orene Woodruff Dunivant.  She retired from textiles with 30 years of service and was of the Baptist Faith.

Survivors include her son, Jimmy D. Ward and his wife, Lindy of Iva; brothers, William A. Dunivant of Decatur, AL and Ronald D. Dunivant of Fyffe, AL and a sister, Barbara Ann Dunivant of Gadsden, AL.

She was predeceased by a brother, Felton Ray Dunivant.

A Graveside Service will be held on Friday, November 12, 2010 at 11:00 am at Oaklawn Memorial Gardens officiated by Dr. Benny Speares. The family will receive friends immediately following the service.

SHELBY CHEEK OSBORNE

ANDERSON - Shelby Cheek Osborne, 71, of 1085 Cartee Road, widow of Boyce Osborne, died Tuesday, November 9, 2010 at her residence.

Born January 22, 1939 in Anderson, she was the daughter of the late C. Frank and Gladys Gambrell Cheek. She was a loving mother and a member of Barnette’s Grove Emmanuel Holiness Church.

Survivors include two sons, Randy Osborne of the home and Allen Osborne of Anderson; one daughter, Patty Suttles of Anderson; seven grandchildren and nine great grandchildren; and one brother, Billy Cheek of Anderson.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Cindy Osborne and a sister, Betty Stastny.

Graveside services will be held at 1 p.m. Friday at Zion United Methodist Church Cemetery conducted by Pastor Susan Allen. The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m. Thursday at Sullivan-King Mortuary, Downtown Chapel, 401 North Main Street, Anderson. The family is at the residence.

SUSAN CARROLL

APRIL 3, 1971 – NOVEMBER 9, 2010

ANDERSON, SC – Susan Elizabeth Carroll, age 39, of 220 Camson Road, passed away on November 9, 2010.

Born in Portsmouth, VA, on April 3, 1971, she was the daughter of the Jerry William Carroll & Roseann Zurko Carroll.  She was a member of St. Mary of the Angel’s Catholic Church.

In addition to her parents, she is survived by her brother, Stephen Jeffrey Carroll and wife, Melissa Wyatt Carroll of Anderson.

A Memorial Mass will be held at 11:30 am on Friday, November 12, 2010, at St. Mary of the Angel’s Catholic Church, celebrated by Father Aubrey McNeal OFM.  The family will receive friends immediately following in the Parish Hall.

It is suggested that memorials be made to the Building Fund of St. Mary of the Angel’s Catholic Church, 1821 White Street, Anderson, SC 29624.

Ray C. Clinkscales  

Ray C.Clinkscales, 90, husband of the late Dorothy Stewart Clinkscales and the late Audrey Britton Clinkscales, died Sunday, October 31, 2010 in Ohio.

Born March 11, 1920 in Abbeville, he was the son of the late John C. and Reba Caldwell Clinkscales. He was a US Air Force veteran having served during World War II. Mr. Clinkscales was retired from the US Postal Service. He was a graduate of Erskine College and a charter member of Boulevard Baptist Church.

He is survived by his daughter, Jeri Merkel and her husband, Fritz of West Chester, Ohio; grandsons: Todd and Ryan Merkel; great grandchildren: Kailyn, Reece, Mia and Teagan; sister, Reba Moore; sister-in-law, Margaret Clinkscales and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by brothers: Prue, Jim and Mack Clinkscales. 

A memorial service will be held at 11 AM, Thursday November 11, at Sullivan-King Mortuary, Downtown Chapel. The family will receive friends from 10 until 11AM prior to the service. Interment will be at Old Silver Brook Cemetery with military honors by Upstate Veterans Honor Guard.
