JOHN E. VINSON

JULY 26, 1947 – SEPTEMBER 26, 2011

ANDERSON, SC – John Edward Vinson, age 64, of 204 Boyce Street, passed away on Monday, September 26, 2011.

Born July 26, 1947, he was the son of the late Sedalia R. Vinson and the husband of the late Barbara Crawford Vinson.  John served in the United States Navy and was retired from Owens-Corning Fiberglas. He was Baptist.

Survivors include children: Mary F. Meredith, Jeremy Scott Vinson, Dana Kay Bordelon, Susan Hayes, and Eric Lee Ragsdale; 9 grandchildren, and 4 great grandchildren.

A Graveside Service will be held at 1pm on Friday, September 30, 2011, at M.J. ‘Dolly’ Cooper Veterans Cemetery.  

The family is at the home and will receive friends at The McDougald Funeral Home from 6pm until 8pm on Thursday.

DAVID TSUI  

March 1, 1957 – September 25, 2011

ANDERSON, SC - David Che Kin Tsui, age 55, husband of Yuk Ying Tsui, passed away on Sunday, September 25, 2011 at the AnMed Health Medical Center.

Born in Canton, China on March 1, 1957, Mr. Tsui was the son of Chee Wah Sing and the Late Chee Lee Tai.  Survivors include his wife of the home; daughter, Annie Yau-Mai Tsui; son Colin Kingsan Tsui; brother, Albert Tsui of Columbus, OH; sister, Louisa Cheuk-Lun Tsui of New York City, NY. 

A Graveside Service will be held on Sunday, October 2, 2011 at 3:30 pm at Oaklawn Memorial Gardens.   

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Sunday from 1:00 pm until 3:00 pm.

CHARLES G. TREADWELL

DECEMBER 28, 1938 – SEPTEMBER 25, 2011

ANDERSON, SC – Charles G. Treadwell, age 72, formerly of Auburndale, FL, passed away on Sunday, September 25, 2011, at Exalted Health & Rehab of Iva (formerly Willow Creek Living Center). 

Born in Anderson County, he was the son of the late JB Treadwell and Frances Rowland Treadwell.

He is survived by his mother, Frances Treadwell; his children: Mike, Charlie (Junior), and Lynn; brothers: Billy, James, and Ronnie; sisters: Betty Mercer and Jane Hudgens.  He was predeceased by his father.

A Graveside Service will be held at 2pm on Tuesday, September 27, 2011, Forest Lawn Memorial Park and will be conducted by the Reverend Deborah Broadwell.

LORENE SKELTON

September 19, 1931 – September 25, 2011

ANDERSON, SC - Lorene Seymore Skelton, age 80, of 707 Woodvale Road, died Sunday, September 25, 2011 at the Rainey Hospice House. 

Born on Madison County, GA on September 19, 1931, Mrs. Skelton was a daughter of the late Earley Gibson Seymore and Laura Elizabeth Tucker Seymore.  She was a graduate of Girls’ High School, class of 1950 and was a former employee of Budweiser Distribution.  She was currently employed with J. C. Penney with 15 years of service.  

Survivors include her children; Tony Skelton and Taska McCoy both of Starr; brother, Henry Beecher Seymore of Anderson; twin sister, Corene Murph of Mauldin; six grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. 

She was predeceased by a brother, Joe Seymore and two sisters, Helen Fennell and Jewell Herring.

A Graveside Service will be held on Wednesday, September 28, 2011 at 2:00 pm at Forest Lawn Memorial Park officiated by the Reverend Phil Sears.  

The family will be at the residence and will receive friends at The McDougald Funeral Home on Tuesday, from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm.

ELIZABETH McMAHAN

September 11, 1924 - September 21, 2011

IVA, SC - Frances Elizabeth Newby McMahan, age 87, of 512 Barnes Station Road, wife of the late Reese McMahan, Jr., went home to be with her Lord and Savior, Wednesday, September 21, 2011.

Born in Iva, SC on September 11, 1924, Mrs. McMahan was a daughter of the late Jeptha Monroe Newby and Dewey Juanita White Newby.  She attended Union Baptist Church but was a member of Good Hope Presbyterian Church where she was a member of the Ladies Circle.  She was a homemaker. 

Survivors include her children: Ronnie McMahan and his wife, Brenda and Michael McMahan and his wife, Lynn of Iva; daughters, Cathy Smith and her husband, Glenn of Anderson and Cindy Watson and her husband, Arthur of Iva; brother, David Newby; sisters, Martha Holbrook and Dixie Campbell all of Iva; eight grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.   

In addition to her husband and parents, she was predeceased by brothers, Doug and Lindsay Newby and sisters, Iris and Mary Alice Newby. 

The Funeral Service will be held on Sunday, September 25, 2011 at 2:30 pm at Union Baptist Church officiated by the Reverends Mike McMillion, Curt Eidson and Annette Graham.  Interment will follow in Iva City Cemetery. 

The family will be at the residence and will receive friends at The McDougald Funeral Home on Saturday, September 24, 2011 from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm.  Mrs. McMahan will be placed in the church at 1:30 pm on Sunday.

DONNA E. CLEVELAND

MARCH 16, 1960 – SEPTEMBER 21, 2011

WILLIAMSTON, SC – Donna Edwards Cleveland, age 51, of 4212 Six & Twenty Road, passed away on Wednesday, September 21, 2011, at AnMed Health Medical Center.

Born March 16, 1960, in Dillon County, she was a daughter of the late George Emory Edwards and Katheryn Roberts Edwards.  Donna was a graduate of Clemson University and Greenville Technical College. She was a dental hygienist associated with Flat Rock Family Dentistry in Greenville. An animal enthusiast, she was fond of all animals -- particularly horses.  

Survivors include her husband, H. Lee Cleveland, of the home; a sister, Debra Edwards Shadle and husband, Lee Shadle, of Wake Forest, NC, and their sons: Phillip Drew McMillan and Emory Garrett McMillan; a brother, George Emory Edwards Jr. and wife, Donna George Edwards, of Latta, SC, and their son, George Emory Edwards III; father-in-law and mother-in-law, John and Judie Perry Cleveland of Anderson, SC; brother-in-law, Dean Cleveland and wife, Nancy Tench Cleveland, of Anderson, SC, and their children: Kyle Cleveland and wife, Nikki, and Kristin Cleveland; and one great nephew, and one great niece.

A Memorial Service will be held at 4pm on Friday, September 23, 2011, in the Chapel of The McDougald Funeral Home.  The family will receive friends immediately following the service.

ELVIN OWENS

WILLIAMSTON - John Elvin Owens, 76, of 259 Breazeale Drive, died Wednesday, September 21, 2011 at AnMed Health Medical Center. 

Born July 25, 1935 in Anderson, he was the son of the late Jim Bob and Bessie Odell Owens. He was retired from Milliken with 55 years of service and a farmer at heart. He was a Christian and attended Eureka Baptist Church.

Surviving are his wife, Katherine Greer Shaw Owens of the home; daughters, Teresa Renita Owens of Hendersonville, NC and Pamela Joy Owens of Simpsonville; step daughter, Linda Cox  and her husband Benny of Anderson; 4 step grandchildren; 3 step great grand children; 2 sisters, Bertha Odell Chandler of Belton, Thyrol E. Newton of Williamston;  twin brother James Melvin Owens of Anderson, 4 brothers, Jim Edward Owens of Williamston, Marvin Greer Owens of CA, Billy Ralph Owens of Belton and Gain Owens of Starr. He was preceded in death by a stepson, Jerry Shaw; brother, Albert Owens and sister, Selvie King. 

Funeral service will be held at 3pm Friday at Sullivan-King Mortuary, Northeast Chapel with Rev. Ray Ridgeway officiating. Burial will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park. The family will receive friends Friday from 1:30 unttil 2:30pm prior to the service at the Northeast Chapel. The family is at their respective homes.

MARJORIE ANN PARKER

ANDERSON - Marjorie Ann Aschenbeck Parker, 71, of 5688 Old Pearman Dairy Road, passed away Monday, September 19, 2011 at Rainey Hospice House after a courageous battle with a terminal illness.

Born August 20, 1940 in Brooklyn, NY, she was the daughter of the late George and Nettie Ringle Aschenbeck. She was a homemaker. 

She is survived by her husband of 50 years, Fredrick Parker of the home; daughter, Linda Chandler of Anderson; grandsons, Brandon and Ryan Chandler; brother, George Aschenbeck of Anderson and sister, Charlotte Monsees of Kingston, NY. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Bonnie Jones. 

Funeral service will be held at 11am Thursday at Sullivan-King Mortuary, Northeast Chapel with Rev. Danny Applewhite officiating. Burial will follow in Oaklawn Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends Wednesday from 6:30 til 8:30pm at the Northeast Chapel, 3205 Hwy 81 N. The family is at the home.

MARGARET B. DUNN

August 24, 1926 – September 18, 2011

ANDERSON, SC - Margaret Bowen Dunn, age 85, of Anderson, wife of the late Thomas Lee Dunn, died Sunday,

September 18, 2011 at the AnMed Health Medical Center.

Born in Anderson, SC on August 24, 1926, Mrs. Dunn was a daughter of the late Robert M. Bowen, Sr., and Bessie Harris Bowen.  She was a graduate of Anderson Girls’ High School and Forrest College.  She retired from Singer Corporation with over 18 years of service.  Mrs. Dunn was a lifelong member of Taylor Memorial Pentecostal Holiness Church and the Helping Hands.  She enjoyed traveling to interesting places with her family and friends.

Survivors include her daughter, Kathy Dunn of Anderson; son, Gary R. Dunn and his wife, Betty of Greer; three grandchildren, Marcus Dunn and his wife, Kerri, Shannon D. Cole and her husband, Tom and Julie Bolding Caison and her husband Will; eight great-grandchildren, Riley, Reese, Hunter, Chase, Carleigh, Dylan, Blake and Baylee.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was predeceased by her step-mother by whom she was raised, Ruth Bowen;  great grandson, Bryce Caison; sisters, Ruby Martin and Bobbie Prater; brother, Robert M. Bowen, Jr.

The family will receive friends at The McDougald Funeral Home on Wednesday, September 21, 2011 from 12:30 pm until 1:30 pm with the funeral following in the Chapel at 2:00 pm  officiated by the Reverend Brent Lollis.  Interment will follow in Forest Lawn Memorial Park.

The family will be at the home of her granddaughter, Julie Caison, 2902 Beechwood Parkway, Anderson, SC

CHARLES. W. FIELDS

DECEMBER 10, 1922 – SEPTEMBER 19, 2011 

ANDERSON, SC – Charles Whitworth Fields, age 88, passed away on Monday, September 19, 2011.

Born December 10, 1922, in Anderson, SC, he was the son of the late Charlie W. Fields and Mary Rogers Fields.  He served in the United States Army Air Corps and Infantry during World War II. Mr. Fields retired from Abney Mills after forty-five years of service. He was a member of the Anderson Little Theater and the Caroleers for many years.  Mr. Fields was a member of Garner Memorial Baptist Church where he was a member of the Choir.

Survivors include his sisters: Joyce Hopkins and Patricia Whitfield, both of Anderson, SC; brother, James Fields of Conyers, GA; and numerous nieces and nephews.  In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by brothers: Herbert Lee Fields and Doug Fields. 

A Graveside Service with Military Honors will be held at 11:30 am on Wednesday, September 21, 2011, at Forest Lawn Memorial Park conducted by Dr. Jack Couch.  The family will receive friends at The McDougald Funeral Home from 10am until 11am on Wednesday.

FRITZ N. WATSON

ANDERSON-Fritz N. Watson, Jr. of 171 Towne Creek Trail in Anderson, S.C., passed away on Sunday, September 18, 2011.   

Born in Anderson on January 18, 1927, he was the son of the late Fritz N. Watson Sr. and Beulah Moorhead Watson.  He enrolled at Berea College in Kentucky in 1943 at the age of 16.  After two years, he was drafted into the army and served as a staff sergeant in the finance corps as a part of the occupation forces in Germany.  Returning from his service, he completed a Bachelor of Science in Physics at Berea College in 1949.  He went on to pursue graduate studies in Electrical Engineering at Georgia Tech before taking a position at Oak Ridge National Laboratories in Tennessee as a nuclear engineer.  He eventually took a position with the U.S. Department of Energy in Washington, DC, where he worked at as a nuclear safety engineer until his retirement in 1982 at the age of 55.  During this period, he was also the founder of Aquarius Enterprises, a swimming pool company that employed all four of his sons for several years.  Upon his retirement, he returned to Anderson and built a home on his childhood family farm and worked in land development.  

He is survived by his wife, Carrie Reece Watson, , his four sons, Neil, Rick, Doug and Stan Watson, their wives, thirteen grandchildren and his sister, Jean Watson Warrick.

Funeral services will be held at 1pm, Wednesday, September 21, at Boulevard Baptist Church, where Fritz and his wife have attended for many years.  Interment will be at Salem Baptist Church on Salem Church Road immediately following the service. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 pm on Tuesday, September 20 at Sullivan-King Mortuary, Northeast Chapel, 3205 Hwy 81 N.  The family is at the residence.

JAMES F. BOCOOK

JULY 30, 1933 – SEPTEMBER 17, 2011 

ANDERSON, SC – James Fulton Bocook, age 78, resident of Hartwell Villas, passed away on Saturday, September 17, 2011.

Born July 30, 1933, in Asheville, NC, he was a son of the late James Arvelle Bocook and Nell Alexander Bocook.  He was a 1955 graduate Rollins College where he attended on full scholarship and was an ‘All American’ basketball player. He served in the United States Army and was the owner of Bocook Enterprises and Bocook Outdoor Media.  An avid tennis player, Mr. Bocook was a member of the Cardinal Racquet Club and enjoyed being an active member of the Anderson YMCA. An outdoorsman, he was a member of the Waterfowl Association and Ducks Unlimited.  He was a true Clemson Tigers fan and faithful supporter of IPTAY.  Professionally, he was a longtime member of the Anderson Chamber of Commerce.  He was a member of New Prospect Baptist Church, Anderson, SC.

Survivors include his children: Deborah Bocook Hall and husband, Allan, of Asheville, NC, Trinkett Lorraine Bocook of Asheville, NC, and Scott Bonham Bocook and wife, Virginia, of Anderson, SC; brother, Bill Bocook of Los Altos, CA; grandchildren: McLean & Conner Hall, Breanna Bocook, and Kayla & Joshua Hammonds; and great grandchildren: Ethan & Nathan Martin.  In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by a brother, Jack Bocook.

The Funeral Service will be held at 11am on Tuesday, September 20, 2011, at New Prospect Baptist Church, Anderson, SC, conducted by the Reverend Dr. Tony Smith and the Reverend Tom Turner.  The family will receive friends immediately following the service. A Graveside Service with Military Honors will be held at 4pm on Tuesday, September 20, 2011, at the Green Hills Cemetery, Asheville, NC. 

The family is at the home of Scott & Virginia Bocook, 100 Sentimental Lane, Anderson.
