Doyle Lee Thrasher, Sr,

ANDERSON - Doyle Lee Thrasher, Sr., 78, passed away on October 1, 2013 at his residence in Anderson, SC with his wife of 35 years by his side. He was born June 7, 1935 in LaFrance to the late Harold and Dallas Thrasher.

Doyle was an Air Force Veteran and a Western Union Field Microwave Supervisor who happily retired to pursue happiness and pleasure in his original home of South Carolina. He lived in Ohio for over 45 years where he was active in the Fraternal Order of Eagles and reached a rank of Ohio State President in 2001-2002. He was a member of Cobbs Glenn Golf Course where he enjoyed playing golf three days a week with the “Old Farts”. He was an active member of Sierra Baptist Church.

Those left to cherish his memory are his wife, Deborah Thrasher; his son, David Wayne Thrasher; his brother, Edward Berry Thrasher; his grandchildren, Wendy Ann Wagner, Carrie Anne Thrasher, Jessie Lee Thrasher, Logan Alexander Thrasher, Angela Harner and Kelly Marie McKay; and his many great grandchildren, Bo, Ann Marie, Carson, Harley, Aiden, Kylynn, Ethan, Brianna, and Jerzie.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Doyle Lee Thrasher, Jr., daughters, Mary and Debby, his only sister, Shirley Rampey, and his two brothers, Bobby and Larry Thrasher.

Doyle is also living through many other beloved family members and friends who knew him as “Poppa White Beard”, “Uncle Doyle”, “Uncle Lee”, “Doyle”, “Lee” or just a great friend. Because, in our world, family is more than a blood line.

Doyle loved his God, his family, his friends and golf. We keep with us your wisdom, your wit, your kindness and your many stories.

A memorial service will be held at 4 p.m. Saturday, October 5, 2013 at Sullivan-King Mortuary Chapel, 3205 North Highway 81, Anderson conducted by Rev. Rex Simmons and Rev. David Walters. The family will receive friends from 2 until 4 p.m. prior to the service. The family is at the residence.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice of the Upstate, 1835 Rogers Road, Anderson, SC 29621.
