NOREEN GROSS

February 25, 1934 – January 20, 2013

ANDERSON, SC - Noreen Gross, the cherished and “catered to” only child of Bud and Helen Durick passed from this life on January 20, 2013.  She joins her parents and her beloved husband, Bob Gross to whom she was married for 52 years.

Noreen was born in Newburgh, NY on February 25, 1934.  She graduated from Newburgh Free Academy (thank you Driver’s Ed!) and married Bob Gross on July 11, 1954.  Bob was transferred to South Carolina in 1978 and Anderson became their home.  She retired from the Newburgh School System after 17 years of service and was a member of the Manpower Staff of Anderson.  Noreen was a volunteer for AnMed Health Medical Center.  She was a member St. Joseph’s Church, The Hilltoppers Club, Anderson Country Club, and Senior Solutions.

Noreen is survived by her daughters, Nori Gale, her devoted caregiver, of Anderson and Dianne (Glenn) Thomaris of Elmira, NY; her grandchildren, Brandon (Heather) Gale of Myrtle Beach, SC, Bobby and Marianne Thomaris of Elmira, NY; two cherished cousins who were the sisters she never had, Kay Wagner and Claire Benson of Newburgh, NY.  Survivors also include special cousin, Pat Mullarkey; sisters-in-law, Barbara Canzoneri, Tess Waters, Virginia Gross and Jeanne Gross; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and special friends, Kay O’Brien and Ann Kohlmeyer. Her fiery Irish personality will be missed by us all.

The Funeral service will be held on Saturday, January 26, 2013, at 11:00 am at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church with Father Paul Williams, OFM officiating.  Interment will be held at Gardnertown Cemetery in Gardnertown, NY at a later date.

The family will receive friends prior to the service on Saturday at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church from 10:00 am until 11:00 am.

Memorials may be made to St. Joseph Catholic Church, 1200 Cornelia Road, Anderson, SC 29621; or Fresh Start, 1484 Pearman Dairy Road, Anderson, SC 29625.
