ANDERSON, SC - Jo Anne Martin Watkins, age 79, of Morningside Assisted Living, and a former resident of Hix Road, passed away on Friday, September 24, 2010, at the Rainey Hospice House.
Born in Anderson, SC on August 4, 1931, Mrs. Watkins was a daughter of the late Albert Alonzo Martin and Lillie Bell Dodd Martin. She was a graduate of Lebanon High School and had formerly worked at Scott Shirt Company and Bobbie Dan Manufacturing. She was a member Mt. Tabor Baptist Church.
Survivors include her husband, Leo Watkins of Anderson Place Health Center, 311 Simpson Road; sons, Robert Watkins and his wife, Diane and Ronald Watkins and his wife, Connie; sister, Martha Sargent, all of Anderson; granddaughter, Lauren Watkins-Swanson of St. Augustine, FL.
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by two sisters, Helen Dunn and Doris Stone.
A Graveside Service will be held on Sunday, September 26, 2010 at 2:00 pm at Mt. Tabor Baptist Church Cemetery officiated by Reverend Evan Hill.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice of the Upstate, 1835 Rogers Road, Anderson, SC 29621.
