BELTON – Georgia Rumsey McMahan, 93, formerly of Anderson, left this earth to rejoin her husband and all of the loved ones gone on before her on Wednesday, March 17, 2010.

Born June 11, 1916 in Hart County, GA, she was the daughter of the late George Elzy and Nora Ellen Dickert Allen Rumsey. She was the widow of Walter Burley McMahan. She loved and served the Lord while being a homemaker and taking care of family and friends. She was a member of Southside Baptist Church.

She is survived by her daughter, Cheryl Banister (Mike), a nephew she raised in the home, Harold Jefferson (Sybil), and nieces and nephews. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a niece raised in the home, Ethel Brown (Mitchel), her brothers, Henry, Jack, and Joe Allen, Levis Rumsey, and her sisters, Fronie Wicker and Leila Jefferson.

Her one wish was to be able to stay in her own home. The family wishes to express their love and appreciation to the special ladies that helped in her care in order for this wish to be fulfilled, Betty Welborn, Faye Bell, Shirley Horne, Reba Collins, Dara Jefferson, Cathy McGraw, and the staff of Interim Hospice.

Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Friday, March 19, 2010 at Sullivan-King Mortuary, Downtown Chapel, conducted by Chaplain Allyson Helvie of Interim Hospice. Burial will be in New Silver Brook Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 2 until 3 p.m. Friday at the mortuary, 401 North Main Street, Anderson.
