SARAH DOBBINS BUSBY BURRESS

May 16, 1920 – December 15, 2010

Sarah Louise Dobbins Busby Burress, age 90, died December 15, 2010.  Born on May 16, 1920, she was a native of Anderson, SC and daughter of the late John Thomas and Louise McDonald Dobbins.  She was a young widow of her first marriage to the late Thad R. Busby of Anderson, SC, a widow of her second marriage to the late Robert M. Rippy of Blacksburg, SC and a widow of the late Cleveland O. Burress of Glendale, SC.  Surviving are a daughter, Sara Beverly Busby Rabon of Lexington, SC and a son, Thad R. Busby and his wife, Charlotte of Raleigh, NC; four grandchildren, Sara De Anna L. Cox of Chapin, SC, Laura B. Langston of Charleston, SC, Richard Busby of Raleigh, NC, and Virginia Busby Eddins of Abingdon, MD; and eight great-grandchildren- Joshua, Scott, Talmadge, Olivia, Colin, Sarah, Ilaria, and Genevieve.  She was predeceased in death by two brothers, J. Reese Dobbins and Thomas L. Dobbins.  She was a member of Southside Baptist Church, a former Sunday School teacher for Grade 4 children for forty years, a member of the Gleaners Sunday School class and a former member of the Iris Garden Club of Spartanburg.  She was retired from Custom Drapery and Raycord and was a resident of Spartanburg, SC for 46 years.  After which she was cared for by her daughter in Lexington, SC.  Her faith was constant as was the love she gave her family. 

Services will be held on Saturday, December 18, 2010 at 3:00 pm at The McDougald Funeral Home of Anderson with visitation from 1:30 pm until 2:30 pm. Burial will be beside her beloved first husband at Forest Lawn Memorial Park, Anderson, SC.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Heart Association, 3535 Pelham Road, Suite 101, Greenville, SC 29615 or Southside Baptist Church, 316 S. Church Street, Spartanburg, SC 29306.
