Good Crowd On Hand for Official Opening of New Wellington Park

More than 300 citizens were on hand for the official debut of Anderson County's reboot of Wellington Park Saturday, including dozens of kids shooting hoops, kicking soccer balls (with the free soccer and basketballs distributed by Walter Lanier) and taking at bats on the new ball field.
Sponsored by the America Outlaws Anderson Soccer Chapter, Anderson County and the Over Under Initiative,the new facility features a new concept that includes areas for both basketball and soccer, and other sports on the new fenced in court.
Family members of longtime county recreation advocate Jackie Ray Poore, Sr., were also in attendance for the naming of the new softball/baseball field in his honor.
