St. George to Host International Nativity Art Display

St. George’s Episcopal Church is Anderson is offering a holiday gift to the community with a display of nativitiy scenes, also called chréches, from around the world Nov. 29-Dec. 24. Reservations required.
The third annual hosting of this gift features displays representing works of art of a wide range of materials -many were hand-crafted by international artisans.
Nativity scenes, a tradition during the Christmas season, can be traced back to 1223. St. Francis of Assisi is credited with creating the first nativity scene in Greccio, Italy based on the Gospels of Luke and Matthew to help people learn and visualize the story of Jesus’ birth.
