State: S.C. Inconsistent in Sexual Harassment Complaints

COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) - A South Carolina newspaper reports that the state doesn't have consistent rules across agencies for employees to submit complaints about sexual harassment, and its agencies aren't required to have anti-harassment policies.

The State newspaper in Columbia reports that it's not known how many of South Carolina's more than 100 state agencies have anti-harassment policies.

For example, a spokesman for the governor's office says the office doesn't have its own policy and is guided by the Department of Administration's anti-harassment rules.

But a spokeswoman for the Administration Department says its rules apply only to its employees.

Seven new members of the state House recently underwent training on the chamber's no-harassment policy Meanwhile, the state Senate has hired a law firm to draft a policy.
