Townville Intersection to Honor Student Killed in Shooting

An Anderson County road could soon see a name change in honor of first-grader Jacob Hall who lost his life after a September shooting at Townville Elementary.

SCDOT District 3 Commissioner Ben Davis said he an his colleagues will vote Thursday on a resolution to rename the Anderson County I-85/Highway 24 Interchange to the "Jacob L. Hall Memorial Interchange."

Davis said though he's fairly certain the proposal will be voted through with no issue, it must still pass under normal protocol. He said he's looking forward to doing something that will help the community heal.

On September 28, a gunman opened fire at Townville Elementary, injuring three students and one teacher. Sadly, 6-year-old Jacob Hall died from his injuries three days after the incident.
