RAY MARTIN

ANDERSON - Raymond B. Martin, 69, of 141 Ashton Lane, died Wednesday, November 23, 2011 at his residence. 

Ray is survived by wife, Velma Shields Martin; daughter, Susan Martin and her husband, Dave Willmer of Ann Arbor, MI; two grandsons, Jackson and Chase; brother, Bruce Martin of San Jose, CA and sister, Mary Martin Henning of Kearney, NE. Ray was loved by all who knew him.

CONNIE VICKERY

November 29, 1944 – November 20, 2011

ANDERSON, SC - Connie Sue Vickery, age 66, of 3242 S. McDuffie Street, Extension, passed away on Sunday, November 20, 2011, at the AnMed Health Medical Center.

Born in Anderson, SC, Connie was a daughter of the late Henry Holmes and Leila Gary Holmes.  She retired from K-Mart and was a long-time volunteer for A. I. M.  She was a member of Faith Baptist Church.  She was a caring mother, grandmother and loving wife who was dedicated to her family and the needs of others.  

She is survived by her husband of 52 years, Hoyt T. Vickery; her sons; Randy Vickery, Todd Vickery and his wife, Gwynne, and Dennis Vickery and his wife, Dana, all of Anderson; five grandchildren; Tyler, Hunter and Caroline Vickery, Blaise and Mason Owens.   

In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by a son, Jeffrey Eugene Vickery.  She was the last surviving member of her immediate family. 

The Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, November 23, 2011 at 2:00 pm at Faith Baptist Church, officiated by the Reverend Greg Hamman and Reverend Paul Williams.  Interment will follow in New Silver Brook Cemetery.

The family will be at the residence and will receive friends at The McDougald Funeral Home on Tuesday, November 22, 2011 from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm.

ANN POWELL COLE

January 14, 1924 – November 20, 2011 

ANDERSON, SC - Annie “Ann” Powell Cole, age 87, of 106 Country Garden Lane, passed away on Sunday, November 20, 2011, at the AnMed Health Medical Center.

Born in Hartwell, GA on January 14, 1924, Mrs. Cole was a daughter of the late Robert Maxie Powell and Annie Frye Powell.  She was formerly employed with Gallant Belk and was a member of Central Baptist Church for over 40 years.  

Survivors include her sister-in-law, Maggie Powell of Anderson; 19 nieces and nephews. 

In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by six brothers, Neal, Burnice, Loyd, Owen, Guy, and Claude Powell and one sister, Clara Powell Kelley. 

A Graveside Service will be held on Wednesday, November 23, 2011 at 2:00 pm at Forest Lawn Memorial Park officiated by the Reverend Charles Holland.  

The family will be at their respective homes and will receive friends at The McDougald Funeral Home on Wednesday from 12:00 noon until 1:00 pm.

MAE HARRIS

December 14, 1929 – November 20, 2011

ANDERSON, SC - Mae Harris, age 81 of 404 Brookside Drive, wife of  Marshall Harris, passed away on Sunday, November 20, 2011, at the AnMed Health Medical Center. 

Born in Quitman, GA on December 14, 1929, Mrs. Harris was a daughter of the late William M. Hartsfield and Bessie Castleberry Hartsfield.   She was a member of Pleasant View Baptist Church and was a homemaker. 

She is survived by her loving daughter, Beverly Gault and her husband, Robert of Anderson, SC; step-children, Marty Harris of Anderson, SC and Carla Griffin and her husband, Rusty of Arden, NC; four step-grandchildren, Andrew and Daniel Griffin, Matthew Harris and his wife, Jennifer, and Jennifer Riggs and her husband, Kris; three step great-grandchildren, Emily Harris, Karson and Krystal Riggs. 

The Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday, November 22, 2011 at 11:30 am in the Chapel of The McDougald Funeral Home officiated by the Reverend Dr. Glenn Taylor.  Interment will follow in Forest Lawn Memorial Park. 

The family will be at their respective homes and will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday, November 22, 2011 from 10:00 am until 11:00 am.

FRANCES SEAGRAVES

June 28, 1937 – November 17, 2011

STARR, SC - Frances Pierce Seagraves, age 74 of 206 Will Glenn Road, wife of the late Roy David Seagraves, passed away on Thursday, November 17, 2011, at the Rainey Hospice House.

Born in Anderson, SC on June 28, 1937, Mrs. Seagraves was a daughter of the late James A. Pierce and Ellen Merk Pierce.  She attended Starr Church of God of Prophecy and was a homemaker. 

She is survived by her loving children, Diane Brown, David, Doug, Danny, Donny, Dewayne, and Mr. Denver Seagraves; brothers, Tommy and Johnny Pierce; sisters, Lillian Davis, Ruth Ferguson, Judy Tilley and Shirley Spivey; 13 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. 

In addition to her husband and parents, she was predeceased by brothers, James and Billy Pierce. 

The Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, November 19, 2011 at 2:00 pm in the Chapel of The McDougald Funeral Home officiated by the Reverend Leland Pitts and Reverend Mark Daniel.  Interment will follow in Old Silver Brook Cemetery.

The family will be at the home of her daughter, Diane Brown, 109 Harmony Road, Anderson, SC 29624 and will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday, November 18, 2011 from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm.

JOHN MICHAEL GILLESPIE

July 8, 1946 – November 16, 2011

ANDERSON, SC - John Michael “Mickey” Gillespie, age 65, of 1116 Hickory Lane, passed away on Wednesday, November 16, 2011, at the AnMed Health Medical Center.

Born in Anderson, SC on July 8, 1946, he was a son of the late Tommy Lee Gillespie and Addie Mae Little Gillespie.  He served in the United States Navy during the Vietnam War aboard the USS Maddox.  Mr. Gillespie retired from Builders’ First Choice and was of the Holiness Faith. 

He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Shelby Barnes Gillespie; daughter, Angie Morgan and her husband, Roger of Starr; sons, James Gillespie and his wife, Renea of Belton and Jonathan Gillespie of Anderson; two grandsons, Dustin Morgan  and his wife, Shannon and Michael Gillespie; one granddaughter, Braylin Gillespie; one great granddaughter, Caylee Morgan;  sisters, Pauline Helms of Concord, NC, Fannie Love of Starr; Mable Ferderer, Priscilla Fowler, Bonnie Lowie and JoAnn Norwood, all of Anderson and Doris Eskew of Greenville.

In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by sisters, Ollie Mae Gillespie, Ovaline Gilreath, Ruth Philyaw and Kathryn Philyaw; brothers, Glenn, Dupert, Bill, Charles, Derrell and James Gillespie.

The Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, November 19, 2011 at 11:00 am in the Chapel of The McDougald Funeral Home officiated by the Reverend Bob Philyaw and Reverend Justin Holder.  Interment will follow in Forest Lawn Memorial Park with Military Honors provided by Campbell Patriots Post #184.

MRS. WILLIE K. PHILLIPS

November 16, 1923 – November 15, 2011 

IVA, SC - Mrs. Willie Kate Phillips, age 87 of 1709 Barnes Station Road, wife of the late Dewitt Talmadge Phillips, died November 15, 2011.

Born in Anderson County, SC on November 16, 1923, Mrs. Phillips was the daughter of the late Alvin Whitman and Linnie Betsie Whitman.  She was a member of Martin’s Grove Emmanuel Holiness Church in Iva.  She worked 35 years at Burlington Mills in Calhoun Falls. 

Survivors include her daughters,, Betty Joyce Lewis of Iva,  Mary Grace Beasley of Belton and Carolyn June Peeples of Fair Play; brothers; Talmadge A. Whitman of Honea Path and Donald Ray Whitman of Iva; sister, Linnie Ruth McCullough of Iva; 13 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; 13 great-great grandchildren.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was predeceased by a son, Richard Douglas Phillips and brother, Julian “Mickey” Whitman.  

The Funeral Service will be held on Friday, November 18, 2011 at 3:00 pm at Martin’s Grove Emmanuel Holiness Church in Iva, officiated by Rev. Ricky Bledsoe and Rev. Charles Howell.  Interment will follow in Smyrna Cemetery in Lowndesville, SC. 

The family will be at the residence of Jackie and Tony Brown, 512 Johnny Long Road, Iva, SC and will receive friends at The McDougald Funeral Home on Thursday, November 17, 2011 from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm.  Mrs. Phillips will be placed in the church at 2:00 pm on Friday.

HENRY M. BREWSTER, JR.

September 27, 1925 – November 15, 2011 

ANDERSON, SC - Henry M. Brewster, Jr., age 86, passed away on Tuesday, November 15, 2011 at Fellowship Health & Rehab in Anderson.

Born in Anderson, SC on September 27, 1925, Henry was a son of the late Henry M. Brewster, Sr. and Alice Hayes Brewster.  He attended Boys High and Forrest Junior College.  He proudly served in the United States Army during WWII.  He was the former owner and operator of Brewster Tire Company and was a member of Homeland Park Baptist Church. 

He is survived by his two sons, Jim Brewster of Townville, SC and Tommy Brewster and his wife, Carol of Anderson, SC; one sister, Lena Belle Brewster of Anderson, SC; 5 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren.  Henry was predeceased by his brothers, James and Grady Brewster, and sisters, Annie Black, Leona Bowen, and Lavonia White.

The Funeral Service will be held in the Chapel of The McDougald Funeral Home at 2:00PM on Friday, November 18, 2011 with Reverend Larry Cox officiating.  Interment will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday, November 17, 2011 from 5:00PM until 7:00PM.

RONNIE WELCH

OCTOBER 11, 1941 – NOVEMBER 12, 2011

ANDERSON, SC -- Ronald D. Welch, age 70, of 113 Broadwell Mill Road passed away on Saturday, November 12, 2011.  He was married to Evelyn Gilreath Welch for 48 years. 

Born on October 11, 1941, in Anderson, he was son of the late Clyde J. Welch and Eva Swilling Welch.    Mr. Welch served in the United States Navy during the Vietnam War. He retired from United Parcel Service following a 30 year career.  He was a Mason, holding membership in Divver Lodge and attended Boys High School in Anderson. Mr. Welch was of the Holiness faith.  He was an avid supporter of Crescent High School athletics.

Survivors, in addition to his wife include:  a son, Barry Welch (Theresa) of Anderson; daughters, Terry Burgin (Michael) and Cherish Welch, both of Anderson; a sister, Dodie Crowe of Anderson.  Also surviving are six grandchildren, Cory Welch (Meredith), Kristen Lawson (Josh), Reagen Welch, Gracie Ashley, Hunter Burgin and Carson Burgin.  Numerous nieces and nephews also survive. 

In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by a brother, Jerry Welch. 

The Funeral Service will be held at 11 AM Wednesday at the Chapel of The McDougald Funeral Home conducted by Rev. Bobby Smith and Rev. Mike Harrell.  Entombment will follow at The Forest Lawn Memorial Park Mausoleum.

RICHARD A. MOSELEY

SEPTEMBER 11, 1955 – NOVEMBER 13, 2011

Anderson, SC – Richard A. Moseley, age 56, of Anderson, went to be with the Lord Jesus Christ Our Savior on Sunday, November 13, 2011. 

Born September 11, 1955, in Camden, SC, he was a son of the late Aussie A. Moseley and Ruth S. Moseley.  Mr. Moseley was a self-employed craftsman carpenter.  Mr. Moseley was of the Baptist Faith.

In addition to his mother, Ruth S. Moseley of Anderson, he is survived by a brother, Sidney LeRoy Moseley (Carol) of Lexington, SC; a sister, Debbie M. Hardin (Wesley) of Anderson; a niece, Brittany Speight (Jason Leckenby); a nephew, Brandon Speight; and a great nephew, Jaeden Leckenby.  He was predeceased by his father, the late Aussie Moseley. 

The Funeral Service will be held at 3 PM on Wednesday, November 16, 2011 in the Chapel of The McDougald Funeral Home with Rev. Rex Simmons officiating.  Interment will follow in Forest Lawn Memorial Park.   

The family is at the home of his mother, Ruth S. Moseley, 705 Woodlake Road, Anderson, and will receive friends at the funeral home from 2 pm until 3 pm on Wednesday.

SUE HARDY

JUNE 25, 1926 – NOVEMBER 12, 2011

STARR, SC – Annie Sue Bramlett Hardy, age 85, wife of the late Jim Elree Hardy, passed away on Saturday, November 12, 2011.

Born June 25, 1926, in Gaston County, NC, she was a daughter of the late Rufus Barnger Bramlett and Beulah Wize Feltman Bramlett. Mrs. Hardy retired from the textiles industry having been employed by Orr-Lyons Mill. She was a member of various organizations and clubs within Orr-Lyons, namely the Good Neighbor Club, the Woodchoppers Camping Club, and numerous sewing clubs.  In earlier years, she was active within the Eastern Star and as a Cub Scout Leader.  Mrs. Hardy was a member of Flat Rock Baptist Church. 

Survivors include two sons: Doyle Hardy & wife, Deborah, of Starr, SC, and Ted Hardy & wife, Melanie, of Starr, SC; sister, Mary Elizabeth King of Dacula, GA; six grandchildren: Renee Blanton, Jonathan Hardy, Tina Marie Hardy, Kacie Hardy, Joshua Hardy, and Brayden Stevenson; and four great grandchildren.  In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by her brother, James Cary Bramlett.

The Funeral Service will be held at 3pm on Tuesday, November 15, 2011, at Flat Rock Baptist Church conducted by the Reverend Ed Hunsinger and the Reverend Larry Cox. Interment will follow in Forest Lawn Memorial Park.  The family is the home of Doyle & Deborah Hardy, 430 Hayes Road, Starr, and will receive friends at The McDougald Funeral Home from 6pm until 8pm on Monday. SARAH BEELER

APRIL 21, 1929 - NOVEMBER 11, 2011

ANDERSON, SC – Sarah Elizabeth Sutherland Ramsey Beeler, age 82, wife of Alfred Beeler, Jr., passed away on Friday, November, 11, 2011, at the AnMed Health Medical Center.

Born in Anderson, SC, on April 21, 1929, she was the daughter of the late Ernest Franklin Sutherland and Mae Scott Sutherland.  Having worked in the textiles industry for over forty years, she was employed by Abney Mills for several of those years.  Additionally, she was an employee of Michelin Tire Company.  Mrs. Beeler attended Oakwood Baptist Church.  

In addition to her husband, she is survived by children: Otis Alan Ramsey and his wife, Ann, Joel Mark Ramsey, David Todd Ramsey, Katherine White and her husband, James, Terri Craft and her husband, Alan, all of Anderson, SC; brothers: George Sutherland, Norris Sutherland, Robert Sutherland, all of Anderson, SC; sisters: Dale Hall of Greenville, SC, and Irene Harrison, of Anderson, SC; fifteen grandchildren and twenty-seven great grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, she is predeceased by her first husband: Otis B. Ramsey, Jr.; and two sons: Francis O. Ramsey and Frankie Ramsey.  

The Funeral Service will be held at 1:00 pm on Monday, November 14, 2011, in the Chapel of The McDougald Funeral Home conducted by the Reverend Scott Vaughn and Reverend Terry Allen. Interment will follow in Forest Lawn Memorial Park.
