Clarence L. Stegall

Piedmont - Clarence Lee Stegall, 90, of 103 Ramblewood Drive, husband of the late Lois I. Stegall, passed away Saturday, April 25 at St. Francis Hospital in Greenville.

Born June 24, 1924 in Pendleton, he was a son of the late Hovie E. Stegall and Sudie Kay Stegall.  He was a faithful husband and proud father and grandfather and member of Six & Twenty Baptist Church.   He served from 1944-46 in the US Navy as Storekeeper D First Class, stationed at Arzeu and Oran, Algeria.  He was the proud owner/ operator of Clarence Stegall Trucking Company, hauling sand and gravel within the state for over 40 years.  He was a very hard worker – honest and fair – with high expectations.  He was a long-time fan of the Atlanta Braves and of Coach K and Duke basketball.  He never tired of watching all the birds out his backdoor.

Survivors include two daughters, Lynn S. O’Connell and fiancé, Bobby Jones of Easley and Sue Stegall and husband, Ed Henson of Hickory, NC;  son Lee Stegall and wife Joanna, of Easley; six grandchildren, Heather and Adam O’Connell, Taylor and Sarah Henson, and Lindsey and Andrea Stegall; two brothers, Paul E. Stegall of Greenville and Joe M. Stegall of Anderson.  He was preceded in death by two brothers, John F. Stegall and Carl D. Stegall.

Funeral service will be held  at 2 pm Thursday at Sullivan-King Mortuary with Rev. Willie Honea officiating.  Military honors will be provided by the Upstate Veterans Honor Guard.  Burial will be private at Six & Twenty Baptist Church cemetery.  The family will receive friends immediately after the service at Sullivan-King Mortuary, 3205 Hwy 81 N, Anderson.

The family is at the residence, 103 Ramblewood Drive, Piedmont, SC 29673.  

Flowers are optional; memorials may be made to a charity of one’s choice.
