Marvin was a used car dealer at Shaw’s Used Cars and worked in real estate at Shaw’s Land Developers. He had been in business over 60 years. During this time he developed over 25 subdivisions in the Iva, Starr, Abbeville, and Lake Seccession areas. He was instrumental in the organization of the Iva Rescue Squad and the Iva Fire Department and serving on both of their Board of Directors for many years. Presently, he served on the Board of Directors of the Starr Iva Water District. He was an avid Harley Davidson enthusiast and enjoyed riding his motorcycle as long as his health permitted.
Marvin fought kidney failure for 5 years. He fought a good fight with the help of, as he would say, “The Master Upstairs.” He was a member of Union Baptist Church of Iva. He loved his church and his church family. The Shaw family would like to thank his church family for all of their thoughts, prayers and visits and the Belton- Honea Path Fresenius Dialysis Center for everything. It was a tough treatment but their staff brought sunshine to his day. He loved you all!
Flowers are optional. Memorials may be made to Union Baptist Church, 703 Barnes Station Road, Iva, SC 29655 or to South Eastern Kidney Council, 1000 St. Albans Drive, Suite 270, Raleigh, NC 27609.
