EDNA KAY STEWART

November 29, 1929 – April 6, 2013

Edna Doris Kay Stewart, age 83, of 207 Sayre Street, passed away at her residence surrounded by the love of her family on Saturday, April 06, 2013.  Born in Anderson, she was the daughter of the late Truman Kay and the late Emily Haynes Kay.  Mrs. Stewart was twice married, first to the late Vernon “Buck” Hiott, Jr., then upon his death to the late Calvin Coolidge Stewart.  Edna was retired after 50 years of employment as a weaver at Anderson Mill.  She enjoyed collecting red bird trinkets as a hobby. 

Survivors include 2 daughters, Gale Wilson and her husband, Steve, of Irmo, SC, and Dionese Vaughn of Anderson; 2 grandchildren, Michelle Patterson and Stephen Wilson, Jr.; 2 great-grand-children, Amber Lilly and Andrew Patterson; and 2 great-great grandchildren, Braxton and Alaina Lilly.

 

In addition to her parents and 2 husbands, Mrs. Stewart was preceded in death by a daughter, Diane Hunnicutt; a brother, Harold Kay; and 4 sisters, Mildred Robinson, Sybil Cooper, Frankie Gilreath, and Betty Stowe. 

A Graveside Service will be held on Sunday, April 7, 2013, at 3 PM at New Silver Brook Cemetery, with Brandon Lilly officiating.  The family will be at the residence and will receive friends at McDougald Funeral Home on Sunday from 1 PM until 2:30 PM.  

Donations in memory of Mrs. Stewart may be made to Hospice of the Upstate, 1835 Rogers Road, Anderson, SC 29621.
