Hilda "Ginger" Cothran

Anderson, SC - Hilda Joyce "Ginger" Johnson Cothran, 82, widow of John B. Cothran, passed away Friday, October 18, 2013 at Fellowship Health and Rehabilitation Center. 

Born December 27, 1930 in Greenville, she was the daughter of the late Levis and Hilda Duncan Johnson. She was a 1949 Greenville High graduate and attended Furman. She loved horseback riding, trips to Edisto, time spent at Lake Hartwell and being with her family. She loved her church, Zion United Methodist Church and enjoyed singing in the choir. Mother of 3 boys, she had to become an accomplished seamstress. Later in life she started working with Anderson Interfaith Ministries and  being a part of their community ministry. 

Surviving are her sons, Skip Cothran and wife, Suzy of Hampton, VA, Jack Cothran and wife, Margaret and Ben Cothran and wife, Ann all of Anderson; 5 grandchildren, Josh, Grant, Scott, Rachel and Matthew Cothran and a brother, Jack D. Johnson and wife, Pat of Zebulon, Ga. 

After a private graveside service, a memorial service will be held Wednesday at 4:30p.m. at Sullivan-King Mortuary with Richard Brennan officiating. The family will receive friends from 3:30 until 4:30p.m. prior to the service at the mortuary, 3205 Hwy 81 N. 

The family is at the home of the son, Ben and Ann Cothran, 601 Woodlake Road, Anderson.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to AIM, P. O. Box 1136, Anderson, SC 29622 or Hospice of the Upstate, 1835 Rogers Road, Anderson, SC 29621.
