WILLIAM “SHORTY” SIMMONS, JR.
Tuesday, November 20, 2012 at 11:06PM ANDERSON – William “Shorty” Jordan Simmons, Jr., 80, of 3212 Howland Drive, husband of Betty L. Simmons, passed away Monday, November 19, 2012 at AnMed Health Medical Center.
Born February 11, 1932 in LaFrance, he was the son of the late William J. Simmons, Sr. and the late Irene Snelgrove Simmons. He was a Veteran in the U.S. Navy and member of Hiram Masonic Lodge #68 A.F.M. He later retired from Wometco Vending and was a member of Homeland Park Baptist Church.
Surviving are his wife of 54 years, Betty Loftis Simmons of the home; daughter, Kristi Simmons of Anderson; 2 sons, William Simmons, III of Greenwood and Mark Simmons of Anderson; 5 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his sister, Joyce Smith.
Graveside service will be held at 2pm Wednesday at M.J. “Dolly” Cooper Veterans Cemetery with Rev. James Strickland officiating. The family will receive friends after the service. The family is at the home.
