BETTY JO WHEELER

January 10, 1933 – October 11, 2012
ANDERSON, SC - Betty Joan White Wheeler, age 79, wife of Bobby L. Wheeler, of 410 Harmony Road, Anderson, passed away on Thursday, October 11, 2012 at her residence.
Born in Anderson, she was the daughter of the late Louie Lester White and the late Perry Lee Rebecca Morgan White. She was a 1951 graduate of Girl’s High. She retired from Orkin Exterminating Company after 25 years of service. She worked for Carolina Auto Auction after her retirement. Betty Jo was a member of Eastern Star and the Red Hatters Society. She was very active in her community, she volunteered for AIM, she was very active in the Senior Follies, Relay for Life in both Anderson, SC and Marietta, GA. She was a member of Middleton Road Baptist Church where she taught Sunday School, was a member of the choir and of WMU.
In her later years, she enjoyed picking black berries.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by her sons, Ben Thomas of Marietta, GA, and Bradley Thomas and his wife, Pam of Anderson, SC; a step-daughter, Deborah Moats of Maryland; a brother, Jim White of Anderson ; a sister, Barbara Wardlaw of Pendleton; five grandchildren, Rodney Moats, Brad Thomas, Amy Campbell, Crystal Harris and Lindsay Thomas; and six great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, Betty Jo was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Heather Thomas.
The Funeral service will be held on Monday, October 15, 2012 at 2:00 pm in the Chapel of The McDougald Funeral Home with Reverend Archie Sharpe and Reverend Ralph Carter officiating.
The family will be at the home and will receive friends at the funeral home on Sunday, October 14, 2012 from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm.
