MATTIE GLENN

June 9, 1930 – September 7, 2011

ANDERSON, SC - Mattie Lou Porter Glenn, age 81, of Anderson, wife of the late Hoyt Boyd Glenn, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, September 7, 2011.

Born in Banks County, GA on June 9, 1930, Mrs. Glenn was a daughter of the late William Sylvanious Porter and Annie Lou Beatty Porter.  She retired from Appleton Mill and was a member of Oakdale Baptist Church. 

She was the last surviving member of her immediate family being predeceased by six brothers and two sisters and a great-grandchild, Madison Sutherland.

Survivors include her daughters, Janet Turner and her husband, James and Helen Sutherland and her husband Bobby; her sons, William Glenn and his wife, Shirley and Roger Glenn, all of Anderson;  8 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren and 4 great-great grandchildren.

The Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, September 10, 2011 at 2:00 pm in the Chapel of The McDougald Funeral Home officiated by the Reverends David Blizzard and Delennon Stowe.  Interment will follow in Forest Lawn Memorial Park. 

The family will be at the home of her daughter, Helen Sutherland, 206 Hillhouse Road, Anderson, SC and will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday, September 9, 2011 from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm. 

Flowers are optional or memorials may be made to Hospice of the Upstate, 1835 Rogers Road, Anderson, SC 29621 or Ark Hospice, 117 Broadbent Way, Suite 117, Anderson, SC 29625.
