JENNIFER WHITMIRE
Friday, September 16, 2011 at 6:24AM PENDLETON – Jennifer “Whale” Whitmire, 16, of Pendleton, was born September 7, 1995 and passed away Wednesday, September 14, 2011. She is the daughter of Dale Whitmire (Melissa Willis) and Shawn and Keith
Moore. In addition to her parents, she is survived by a brother, Jonathan “Drew” Whitmire; sister, Jessica Whitmire; sister-in-law, Katie Whitmire; and nephew, Sawyer Whitmire. Surviving grandparents are Lawrence Whitmire, Dan and Cindy Smith, and Frankie Morgan. Also surviving are aunts, Diane Guffee and Gail Black; uncle, Stacey Smith; cousins, Byron and Megan Guffee, Amberlyn Smith and Brooke Black. She was preceded in death by her grandmother, Ruth Whitmire.
She was a sophomore at Pendleton High School where she excelled in academics and was a member of the PHS musical drama team. She was nominated to audition for the SC Governor’s School for performing arts, which is a prestigious honor for exceptionally talented students. She was also an activist for such organizations as “Save the Whales”. The students at PHS recently raised money to be donated to “Save the Whales” in her honor.
She attended United Assembly in Seneca, SC where she was actively involved with their youth group. She recently came to know Jesus Christ as her personal Savior on a mission trip to Nicaragua.
Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday at Six & Twenty Baptist Church conducted by Rev. Shane Frank. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1 until 3 p.m. Saturday at the church. The family is at the home of Lawrence Whitmire, 3300 Six & Twenty Road, and Frankie Morgan, 3735 Six & Twenty Road, Pendleton.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to “Save the Whales”, 1192 Waring Street, Seaside, CA 93955.
