Betty Lou Grumbles

ANDERSON- Betty Lou Smith Grumbles, 81, of Fairmont Rd., widow of the late Horace J. Grumbles, died Thursday, August 25, 2011 at the Rainey Hospice House.

Born August 30, 1929 in Piedmont, SC, she was the daughter of the late Benjamin Franklin and Beulah McClain Smith. She was a secretary for Burriss Animal Clinic for many years. Mrs. Grumbles was a member of Shiloh United Methodist Church in Piedmont.

Surviving are her daughter, Susan Durell and husband, Randy of Anderson, sons, John B. Grumbles and wife, Kim of Anderson and Horace J. Grumbles, Jr. and wife, Beth of Easley, grandchildren, Elizabeth Sims Cashion and husband, Chris, Anna Katherine Stuart, Charles Benjamin Stuart and wife, Wendy, Sara Grumbles Crocker and husband, Brent, and Robert Grumbles, great grandchildren, Christopher Sims Cashion, Strother Elizabeth Cashion, Charles Braden Stuart, Sophie Leigh Stuart, Ava Grace Crocker and two sisters: Clara Phillips and Peggy Galloway. She was preceded in death by a sister, Margie Smith.

Graveside services will be held at 2 PM Saturday at Shiloh United Methodist Church, Piedmont with Pastor Perry Evatt officiating. The family will receive friends from 7 until 8 PM Friday at the Northeast Chapel, 3205 Hwy 81 North. The family will be at the home of her daughter, Susan Durell, 125 Lynnwood Circle, Belton.

Flowers are optional, memorials may be made to Hospice of the Upstate, 1835 Rogers Rd., Anderson, SC 29621.
