DOROTHY MARCHBANKS RANKIN

ANDERSON - Dorothy Elizabeth Marchbanks Rankin, 95, formerly of Marchbanks Avenue, widow of James Lester Rankin, died Monday, September 20, 2010 at NHC of Anderson.
Born September 7, 1915 in Anderson, she was the daughter of the late G.E. and Zessie Rush Marchbanks. Dot was an Honor Graduate of Anderson Girls High School, Class of 1933 and attended the Carolina School Commerce. She retired from Attaway, Inc. and attended the Kingdom Hall on East Calhoun Street in Anderson as long as her health permitted.
Surviving are her daughter and son-in-law, Betty and Mike Hawkins of Anderson; granddaughter, Amy Taylor and her husband, Jeff of Anderson; two great granddaughters, Grayson and Graeme Taylor. She was preceded in death by brothers, Gilbert Marchbanks, James Collins Marchbanks, Sr., Joseph Erskine Marchbanks, and William Rush Marchbanks, Sr.; and two sisters, Margaret A. Marchbanks and Ruthelma Marchbanks Dozier. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, September 24, 2010 at Sullivan-King Mortuary, Downtown Chapel, conducted by her great nephew, Joseph M. Black, Jr. Interment will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m. Thursday at the mortuary, 401 North Main Street, Anderson. The family is at the home of Mike and Betty Hawkins, 2007 Marchbanks Avenue.
The family wishes to express their thanks to the staff of NHC, Station 6 and Solaris Hospice for the loving care that they gave to Dorothy and her family.
