RUFUS E. BLACK

OCTOBER 30, 1920 – AUGUST 7, 2010
 
ANDERSON, SC – Rufus Edgar Black, age 89, of 2004 East Calhoun Street, passed away on Saturday, August 7, 2010.
 
Born in Anderson County on October 30, 1920, he was a son of the late Edgar B. Black and Jessie Whitaker Black.  He served in the United States Army during World War II and retired from BASF.  Mr. Black was a member of Lebanon Baptist Church.
 
Survivors include his wife, Sybil Lollis Black; son, Bobby L. Black; daughter, Ann Black Sanders; brother, Franklin Black; and four grandchildren: Tonia Baxter and husband, Bruce, Cale Black, David Black, and Mark Bennett; a great granddaughter, Emily Grace Baxter.  In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by a daughter, Margaret Black; three brothers and two sisters.
 
A  Private Family Graveside Service will be held on Tuesday, August 10, 2010, at New Silver Brook Cemetery.  
 
In lieu of flowers, it is suggested that memorials be made to Meals on Wheels, P.O. Box 285, Anderson, SC 29622, or to Hospice of The Upstate, 1835 Rogers Road, Anderson, SC 29622.
