DELL JOHNSON

DECEMBER 15, 1932 – MARCH 28, 2010

BELTON, SC – Mr. Maudell “Dell” Johnson, age 77, of 419 Pea Creek Road, passed away at his home on Sunday, March 28, 2010.

Born in Statesboro, GA, on December 15, 1932, he was a son of the late Douglas Johnson and Maudie Ellis Johnson.  He served as a paratrooper in the 187th division of the United States Army during the Korean Conflict and was a recipient of two Purple Heart medals.  Mr. Johnson was the owner of Harris Appliance Parts Company in Anderson, SC, & Greenville, SC. He was a member of Blue Ridge Baptist Church in Belton and was a faithful supporter of the Gideon’s International – namely the Belton Camp.

Survivors include his wife of fifty-seven years, Nelwyn Harris Johnson; children: Diane Johnson Brock and husband, Lester L. Brock of Anderson, SC, Stephen D. Johnson and wife, Susan Johnson of Statesville, NC, and Denise J. Wilson and husband, Melvin Wilson of Anderson, SC; sister, Irene Davis of Greenwood, SC; brother, Hubert Johnson of North Augusta, SC; six grandchildren; and five great grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by a brother, Crawford Johnson.

The Funeral Service will be held at 2:00 pm on Wednesday, March 31, 2010, in the Chapel of The McDougald Funeral Home conducted by the Reverend Richard Busha.  Interment with Military Honors provided by Fort Gordon will be held at Forest Lawn Memorial Park.

The family is at the home, 419 Pea Creek Road, and will receive friends at the funeral home from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm on Tuesday, March 30, 2010.

In lieu of flowers, it is suggested that memorials be made to the Gideon’s International, Belton Camp, P.O. Box 733, Belton, SC 29627 or to Hospice of The Upstate, 1835 Rogers Road, Anderson, SC 29621.
