BILL KING

ANDERSON – William Alfred “Bill” King, Jr., passed peacefully at 89 years of age. Born in 1921 to William A. and Eula Jane Strickland King, he was raised in the Triangle Community and was a friend to all. He was the husband of the late Lillie Stringer King. He was a member of Whitefield Baptist Church, a Mason and Woodman. He was predeceased by his brothers, John, James, Joe, and Sloan, and his sisters, Dell Davis, Eva Weir, Louise Glen, Hattie Mitchell, Ruth Banister, and Selma Thomas. He was employed most of his adult life at Blair Mills, Belton.

Having no children, he was affectionately known as “Uncle Bill” by those nephews and nieces who so loved him, and he them. Those who were close, he cherished in a special way; those who were far, he spoke of often and held them in his thoughts and prayers. Most of all, he kept them in his heart.

Bill enjoyed life. He enjoyed conversation. He cherished laughter and fellowship. Bill never met a stranger. He was happy in his large garden, but what brought him the greatest pleasure was sharing what he had with others. During his last few days, he spoke of many friends and loved ones and the kindness that they had shown to him over the years. But that which Bill King will most be remembered for was the kindness that he gave to so many others.

Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Friday at Sullivan-King Mortuary, Northeast Chapel, conducted by Rev. Jimmy Smith. The family will receive friends from 2 until 3 p.m. Friday prior to the service. Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Memorial Park. The family will be at the home of a nephew Larry and Dianne Mitchell 206 Cumberland Way, Anderson.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Meals on Wheels, P.O. Box 285, Anderson, SC 29622.
