JOHNNIE S BYRUM, JR.

April 3, 1924 – December 13, 2012 

EASLEY, SC - Johnnie Samuel Byrum, Jr., age 88, went to Glory on December 13, 2012.  

He was born in Hartwell, GA, the son of the late Johnnie S. Byrum, Sr. and the late Quillie McLane Byrum.  He is survived by his wife of 67 ½ years, Ella Mae Carithers Byrum.  Both are born again Christians.  He was a member of Garner Memorial Baptist Church in Anderson where he served as a Deacon.

He is also survived by his son, Dr. Samuel L. Byrum and his wife Shirley, of Easley, SC and a step-daughter, Wilma Etrulia Partain, of Anderson, SC; four grandchildren, Melanie Byrum Wilkins and her husband, Jimmy, of Boiling Springs, SC, Samuel David Byrum, of Easley, SC, Michael and Tim Partain, of Anderson, SC; a brother, James Dale Byrum of Hartwell, GA; also surviving are his great-grandchildren. 

His birth, life and death are a testimony to the Greatness of our Living God.

The family will be at their respective homes and will receive friends at The McDougald Funeral Home on Saturday, December 15, 2012 from 10:00 am until 11:00 am. The Funeral service will follow in the Chapel at 11:30 am with Reverend Dr. Jack Couch officiating.  Interment will follow at New Silver Brook Cemetery.

R.B. TANNERY

November 1, 1918 – December 10, 2012

ANDERSON, SC - R.B. Tannery, age 94, of Anderson, SC, passed away on Monday, December 10, 2012, at the Rainey Hospice House.

Born in Oconee County, he was the son of the late James Vernon Tannery and the late Annie Ridley Tannery.  R.B. proudly served his country in the United States Army during World War II. He retired from J.P. Stevens after many years of service.  He was a member of the Ruff Lodge for 70 years.  He was of the Baptist Faith. 

He is survived by his children, Raymond (Nancy) Tannery, Peggy (Jim) Light, Irene (Larry) McClain, Shirley Brannon and Diane Foster; two brothers, Charles and James Tannery; one sister, Ginny Moore; ten grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Grace Irene Jones Tannery; and three sisters. 

A private Graveside Service was held on Thursday at Forest Lawn Memorial Park. 

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice of the Upstate, 1835 Rogers Road, Anderson, SC 29621.

HENRY B. SEYMORE

September 12, 1920 – December 11, 2012 

ANDERSON, SC - Henry Beecher Seymore, age 92, of 133 Capeview Lane, passed away on Tuesday, December 11, 2012 at his residence.

Born in Georgia, he was the son of the late Early Seymore and the late Laura Tucker Seymore.  He proudly served his country in the United States Army during World War II in the 62nd Signal Battalion, earning 5 Bronze Stars and several other Medals of Honor.  He retired from J.P. Stephens as a supervisor, having worked there for over 40 years.  He was a charter member of the Center Rock Fire Department and a member of New Hope Methodist Church.  He was known as a good family man and a good neighbor. 

He is survived by his children, Lynne Seymore, of the home, Mike Seymore and his wife Gwen, of Anderson and Tommy Seymore; a sister, Corrine Murph of Mauldin; four grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Martha Harris Seymore; a brother, Joe Seymore; three sisters, Lorrine Skelton, Jewell Herring, and Helen Fennell; and a grandson, Ricky Lesley.

The Funeral Service will be held on Friday, December 14, 2012 at 2:30 pm in the Chapel of The McDougald Funeral Home with Reverend Tommy Dickson and Reverend Joyce Murphy officiating.  Interment will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park with Military Honors provided by Campbell Patriots Honor Guard. 

The family will be at the residence and will receive friends on Thursday, December 13, 2012 from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm. 

Flowers are optional or memorials may be made to Campbell Patriots Honor Guard, American Legion Post #184, 44605 Belton Highway, Anderson, SC 29621.

HAZEL P. BROWN

April 15, 1922 – December 12, 2012

ANDERSON, SC - Hazel Parnell Brown, age 90, of Anderson, passed away on Wednesday, December 12, 2012 at the Rainey Hospice House.

Born in Hartwell, GA, she was the daughter of the late Dennis Merrit Ethridge and the late Clara Cleveland Ethridge.  She worked at Wamsutta for many years.  She loved gardening, flowers and music.  Hazel was a member of Oakwood Baptist Church.

She is survived by her daughter, Martha Shaw; seven grandchildren, Janet Weyman McClain and her husband Ricky, Debbie Shaw Branyon and her husband Greg, Cindy Weyman Moore and her husband Darrell, Missy Weyman Norris and her husband Tony, Tracie Shaw McCuen and her husband Marty, Logan Parnell and Tyler Parnell. 

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, who died in 1982, Joe Fretwell Parnell and her second husband who died in 1998, Charles “Red” Brown; a daughter, Frances Weyman; and a son, Joel Parnell. 

The Funeral Service will be held on Friday, December 14, 2012, at 11:00 am in the Chapel of The McDougald Funeral Home.  Interment will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park. 

The family will be at the home of her granddaughter, Tracie McCuen and will receive friends at The McDougald Funeral Home on Thursday, December 13, 2012 from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm.

MR. MARCHANT LEE LESLEY  

April 1, 1931 – December 11, 2012

ANDERSON, SC - Mr. Marchant Lee Lesley, age 81, of 304 Broad Street, passed away on Tuesday, December 11, 2012, at AnMed Health Medical Center.

Born in Easley, SC, he was the son of the late Mina Lee Lesley and the late Edna Hoxit Lesley.  He proudly served his country in the United States Air Force during the Korean Conflict.  He was a graduate of the University of South Carolina and was a C.P.A. for over 40 years in the Anderson area.  He was a member of the Sertoma Club and the Elks Lodge.  Mr. Lesley was also a member of Trinity United Methodist Church. 

He is survived by his special companion of 25 years, Mary Michalak; two daughters, Elizabeth L. Cox and her husband Don of Anderson, SC, and Caroline Lee Kordonowy and her husband Stuart of Asheville, NC; a sister, Anita Nalley and her husband Bud of Easley, SC; five grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and four step-sons. 

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his first wife, Jean Lesley and his second wife, Norma Cassels Lesley. 

The family will receive friends at The McDougald Funeral Home on Friday, December 14, 2012, from 11:00 am until 12:30 pm.  The Funeral service will follow in the Chapel at 1:00 pm.  A private family committal service will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park with Military Honors.

GRACE LEE TIMMS

February 4, 1917 – December 10, 2012

Grace Lee Timms, age 95, of 1501 East Greenville Street, Anderson, died at her residence at National Health Care on Monday, December 10, 2012.  Born in Banks County, GA, she was the daughter of the late James Benjamin York and the late Pauline Elizabeth Mullinax York. 

Mrs. Timms was retired as a waitress at Burger King.  Prior to that, she was a spinner at Equinox Mill.  She was a member of Orville Baptist Church.

Survivors include a sister, Ella Smith of Anderson, and a niece, Elizabeth Byrum of Anderson.  In addition to her parents, Mrs. Timms was preceded in death by her husband, Walter Timms; 3 brothers, James, John, and Paul York; 5 sisters, Mae Elizabeth Orr, Pearl Busbin, Stella York, Louise Wiles, and Ruby Dickert.  

A graveside service will be held on Friday, December 14, 2012 at 1:30 pm at Oaklawn Memorial Gardens, with Rev. Dr. Wendell Bannister and Rev. Thad Elliott officiating.  The family will receive friends at The McDougald Funeral Home on Wednesday, December 12, 2012 from 6 PM until 8 PM.

WILLIE MAE KENNEDY

January 20, 1935 – December 9, 2012

BELTON, SC - Willie Mae Kennedy, age 77, of Belton (Cheddar Community), passed away on Sunday, December 9, 2012 at the Rainey Hospice House.

Born in Anderson County, she was the daughter of the late James Henry Dyar and the late Bernice Blanche Dyar.  She retired from AmeriGas after many years of service.  She was a member of Double Springs Baptist Church.

She is survived by her loving husband, Jimmy Gary Kennedy, of the home; a brother, DJ Dyar of Townville; a sister, Vergie Martin of Shelby, NC. 

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by four brothers.

The Graveside Service will be held on Thursday, December 13, 2012 at 11:00 am at M.J. “Dolly” Cooper Veterans Cemetery with Reverend Dwight Greene officiating.

The family will receive friends at The McDougald Funeral Home on Wednesday, December 12, 2012 from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm.

Mr. Thomas D. Mark Muchiarone

ANDERSON- Mark Alan Muchiarone, 52, of Anderson died Monday, December 10, 2012 at AnMed Health Medical Center.

He was born May 30, 1960 in Conneaut, Ohio. He was employed with Executive Cabinetry in Simpsonville. Mark and his son were avid participants in the sport of Motorcross and the Motorcross family.

Surviving are his wife, Cynthia Raynor Muchiarone of Anderson, daughter, Brandi Muchiarone, son, Jesse Muchiarone both of Anderson, father and step-mother, Jerome and JoAnn Muchiarone of Simpsonville,  sister, Jean Muchiarone of Anderson, brother, Alan Muchiarone of Gaffney, stepsister, Deborah Scowcroft of Anderson, stepbrother, Michael Rogers of Charlotte, niece, Michelle Green and nephew, Cas Smith both of Anderson. He was preceded in death by his mother, Joyce Estes Muchiarone.

The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 PM Wednesday at Sullivan-King Mortuary, 3205 Hwy 81 North.

CHARLIE WALTER CHASTEEN, SR.

February 14, 1925 – December 6, 2012

ANDERSON, SC - Charlie Walter Chasteen, Sr., age 87, of Anderson, passed away on Thursday, December 6, 2012, at his residence.

Born in Anderson, SC, he was the son of the late Reverend Colonel William Chasteen and the late Martha Lee Kinsey Chasteen.  He proudly served his country in the United States Army Airborne serving in Europe.  He was captured and held as a prisoner of war in Holland.  He retired from Foundry & Steel after 15 years of service.  He was a member if the VFW and American Legion.  Charlie was of the Protestant Faith. 

He is survived by his daughter, Loretta Mitchell; his brother, Johnny Chasteen and his wife Estelle; and his sister, Annie Bea Crawford.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his loving wife, Lou Ann M. Chasteen; a daughter, Debra Stafford and a son, Charlie Walter Chasteen, Jr. 

The family will receive friends at The McDougald Funeral Home on Sunday, December 9, 2012 from 12:30 pm until 1:30 pm.  The Graveside Service will follow at 2:00 pm at Forest Lawn Memorial Park with Chaplain Bob Kelly officiating.  Military Honors will be provided by Upstate Veterans Honor Guard.

FRANK REED

June 10, 1976 – December 5, 2012

TOWNVILLE, SC - Frank Richard Reed, age 36, of Townville, passed away on Wednesday, December 5, 2012, at his residence.

Born in Long Island, NY, he was the son of Frederick John Reed and Margaret Luna Reed of Townville, SC.  He was an Automotive Mechanic having worked in a shop with his father for several years.  Frank enjoyed auto racing and was an avid knife collector.  He loved his family dearly and enjoyed many family gatherings.

In addition to his parents, he is survived by his loving wife, Sandra Lee Brown Reed of the home; a daughter, Erica Glenn, of the home; a brother, William Reed of Townville, SC; a nephew, Micah Reed and a niece, Raine Reed.

The Funeral Service will be held on Monday, December 10, 2012 at 2:00 pm in the Chapel of The McDougald Funeral Home.  Interment will follow at Courtney Memorial Park in Newry, SC

The family will receive friends on Sunday, December 9, 2012 from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm at the funeral home.
