The hometown radio stations will stay at home.

In one of the best possible outcomes, Anderson County Native and former judge and South Carolina Representative  Tom Ervin's Ervin Broadcasting has purchased the WRIX-FM, WRIX-AM and WANS-AM radio stations. Ervin Broadcasting, LLC, is already in charge of the stations' daily programming and operations. All employees currently working for the stations will retain their positions.

Ervin, a Honea Path native and graduate of Belton Honea Path High School.  Ervin went on to graduate Erskine College and the USC School of Law. He served two terms in the S.C. General Assembly representing Belton, Honea Path, Starr and Iva and was elected as the youngest circuit court judge ever in S.C. serving Anderson and Oconee Counties. After retiring from the bench, Ervin served as the first president of Foothills Community Foundation and later as CEO of Anderson County United Way. He now practices law with his wife Kathryn Williams in Greenville.

His mother, the late Louise Ervin, spent more than 30 yeas as feature writer and editor for the Anderson Independent and the Daily Mail. Louise was an amazing story teller and wonderful person. So Ervin's commitment to local involvement is little surprise.

"Our immediate focus is to continue to provide positive programming for this great community.  Local radio is special...special to its loyal listeners, special to its advertisers and it is special to me.  Our mission is to provide quality programs, delivered in a professional manner, that focus on the latest news, sports, weather, and stories of local interest to our listening audience. Folks will hear some new and exciting things but they will also be able to tune in to some of the core programming that has always been the cornerstone of WRIX and its sister stations" says Tom Ervin.

South Carolina Gamecock sports and Belton-Honea Path High School football are two key pieces of that core programming that fans can look forward to this fall.

"This is South Carolina and football is king so WRIX and its sister stations will not only maintain the excellent play-by-play broadcasts of the Gamecocks and BHP Bears but you will hear expanded sports coverage thru our daily program line up and specialty programs" notes Mr. Ervin.

Mr. Ervin also says that listeners will enjoy the new "sound" of the stations over the next few months and the ability to interact with the on-air hosts on a variety of topics from the local to the regional to the national arena.

"This is such a great opportunity to give this community a voice.  And we have a great group of stations to be the vehicle for that voice. I could not be more proud or excited to call these stations home" adds Ervin.
