Pendleton, SC - LTC Charles Wesley Norton, Jr. USAF, Retired, age 93, husband of Doris S. Norton, passed away Thursday, March 24, 2016 at Keowee Place. 

Born in Mullins, he was the son of the late Charles Wesley and Mary Lou Smith Norton. He was a graduate of Ohio State University and was a retired U.S. Air Force Fighter Pilot with 30 years service. LTC Norton was a member of Mount Tabor Baptist Church. 

In addition to his wife, survivors include five children, Charles W. Norton III and wife, Brenda of Zuni, VA, Susanne Norton of Pendleton, David Rippetoe Norton and wife, Peggy of Jacksonville, FL, Robert Houser Norton and wife, Betty of Haymarket, VA, and Mary Lou Billingsly and husband, Mike of Pendleton; eight grandchildren; one great grandchild; and a sister, Ann Ramsey of Durham, NC.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, March 28, at Mount Tabor Baptist Church conducted by Rev. Philip Blankenship. Burial, with full military honors conducted by the U.S. Air Force, will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1 until 2 p.m. Monday at the church. The family is at the home of Mary Lou and Mike Billingsley, 109 Kenneth Court, Pendleton, SC. 

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, 4124 Clemson Boulevard, Suite L, Anderson, SC 29621 or Mount Tabor Baptist Church, 5901 Highway 187, Anderson, SC 29625.
