Observer Reports
Anderson County joined every other county in South Carolina with a jump in unemployment for June.
Anderson's 3.2 percent jobless rate was up from 2.8 percent in May, but the number of employed individuals was actually higher than in June of 2021, with 3,200 more individuals employed and 1,000 fewer unemployed.
The numbers can be confusing, because they are seasonally adjusted with smaller population number by the state, which consider longer-term trends as part of the calculations.
Meanwhile, South Carolina’s statewide unemployment rate, which is not seasonally adjusted, fell to 3.2 percent, down from 3.3 percent in May. The national unemployment rate remained unchanged at 3.6 percent.
