The Women & Children Succeeding Program of Anderson Interfaith Ministries will hold a ribbon cutting and building dedication and open house for the new WACS Cottage today from 12 p.m. to 2 p.m. with the ribbon cutting at 12:30 p.m. Located at 1210 South Murray, the building is located directly beside the former WACS cottage.  The new building was purchased and renovated with foundation grants and volunteer efforts.  Several classes at Tri County Technical College participated in the remodel as well volunteer groups from churches and businesses throughout Anderson County.

Several local businesses have agreed to sponsor and name rooms in the new facility.  Piedmont Natural Gas will attend the event and present a check for their sponsorship of the computer lab in the new cottage.

Anderson Federal Credit Union has adopted and sponsored the children’s room.  Kristi King-Brock, AIM’s Executive, says, “We are so excited about this expansion and the opportunity to serve our participants in a greater way.  AIM and the Women & Children Succeeding program is blessed to have so many generous volunteers who have donated their time & resources to this project.” Many community leaders, representatives and local celebrities are expected be in attendance at the event.

The Women & Children Succeeding Program connects participants pursuing higher education with holistic supportive services (such as childcare and mentoring) so they become empowered to break the cycle of poverty.  The program has had 104 graduates with 11 continuing on to get Master’s Degrees.
