Keep America Beautiful of Anderson County recognized local residents for their environmental service at the annual Keep America Beautiful Volunteer Luncheon. Each year, KAB spot lights individuals who make a difference in litter prevention, waste reduction and beautification.

These individuals dedicate their time by educating students about the environment, picking up litter and beautifying their neighborhoods and communities. Volunteers help KAB to accomplish its many programs and goals throughout the year.

In addition, Captain Chris Cowan Captain was invited to speak about “The Broken Window” Theory, which highlighted the importance of communities working together to create a clean, safe environment for its residents. Currently, Captain Cowan is the Community Services Division Commander for the Richland County Sheriff's Department.

More than 175 people attended the event that was sponsored by Waste Connections of the Carolinas. Pictures of Pride Award winners are attached. For more information, please contact the Keep America Beautiful office at (864) 260-1003.
