County Announces Roadwork Initiative

Fifteen Anderson County Roads are slated to receive a new light-weight aggregate treatment as part of the single treatment contract awarded by the Anderson County Transportation Committee (ACTC). This new treatment is expected to extend the life of the pavement by 3-5 years. Work is anticipated to begin on May 31 and should take 10 – 14 days to complete.

High traffic roadways with an excess of 1,000 trips per day were included in the project list. The majority of these roads have previously had full-depth patching and include:
Circle Road
Clinkscales Road
Dunlap Road
Firetower Road
Hurricane Creek Road
Jule Martin Road
Lee Dobbins Road
Mt. Airy Church Road
New Hope Road
Roe Road
Sitton Hill Road
Smoak Road
Stringer Road
Tillotson Road

Work is anticipated to begin on May 31 and should take 10 – 14 days to complete.  Sealed bids for the project were opened at 2 pm on April 8 in the Historic Courthouse. The project was awarded to the low bidder, Carnes, Inc. for a total cost of $389,677.25.

Bids were also received from F & R Asphalt, Inc. ($486,061.00) and Pickens Construction, Inc. ($557,519.02).

Funding is provided by C-Funds, approved by the Anderson County Transportation Committee.
