Suspect Arrested in Attempted Kidnapping

Anderson County Sheriff Investigators are charging suspect who attempted to lure a 14 year old female into a vehicle with Attempted Kidnapping.  

Wednesday morning at 7:41am Anderson County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to Twin Lakes Court in Anderson after receiving a complaint of a suspicious man attempting to lure a 14 year old female into his vehicle.  The victim was at a school bus stop when the suspect pulled up in a Pontiac Aztec and attempted to convince the victim to get into his vehicle.  The suspect drove away after the victim refused to get in the vehicle and called a parent on her cell phone. 

The suspect and the suspect’s vehicle that matched the victim’s description were quickly located at 116 Twin Lakes Drive.  It was determined that the vehicle that the suspect was operating had been reported stolen three days earlier.    

The suspect was arrested and later identified as Roger Lee Powell of 1306 Cherokee Circle in Anderson.  Powell is charged with Attempted Kidnapping, Use of Vehicle w/o Owner’s Consent, Unlawful Possession of a Pistol and Giving False Information.
