Electric City Playhouse Releases 2011 Season Schedule

On the heels of announcing their plans to build a new theatre on South Main Street next to The Fox Pub, the Electric City Playhouse has just released their 2011 Season Schedule: Nunsense Jamboree, the third outrageously funny musical in the popular Nunsense series (all previously performed at ECP), is a fast-paced, hilarious hoe-down with a Laugh-In-Hee-Haw-Grand-Ole-Op'ry slant. It will run February 10-27. The second of the season, Moon Over Buffalo, is the play famous for bringing Carol Burnett back to Broadway. Widely known as one of the great American comedies, performances dates are April 7–17. On May 19-June 5 the all African-American Crowns, a moving and celebratory musical in which hats become a springboard for an exploration of black history and identity, while gospel music and dance help to underscore and support the narrative, will take over the ECP stage.

The 2011 ECP Drama Camp is slated to run Monday-Friday of June 13-24 and will be followed by A Southern Exposure, in which a young woman, raised by her cantankerous, controlling grandmother and two eccentric, doting aunts, tests the love, sacrifice and the everlasting bond of family that runs August 18-28. Glorious, September 29–October 9, tells the true story of Florence Foster Jenkins, who had a passion for singing, but a voice of disastrous proportions, which left audiences crying with laughter. The play draws from her bizarre recording sessions, unbelievable recitals and her ultimate triumph at New York's Carnegie Hall. The final play of the 2011 Season Schedule is A Nice Family Gathering, December 1-11, and is a story about a man who loved his wife so much, he almost told her. Dead for a year, he returns to Thanksgiving dinner as a ghost to tell his wife he did in fact love her, only to find out that she can’t see or hear him and that she has brought a date. Audition dates are not yet set and no ECP plays are precast.

To accommodate demand, all 2011 season shows will now run Thursday–Saturday at 8PM and Sunday at 3PM. Ticket prices remain unchanged from 2010, with season tickets prices set at $85 for Adults, $75 for Seniors over 62 and $50 for Students, increased levels of support are available with our Leading Role memberships at $125 and Star memberships at $175. All Season Memberships come with yearly discounts to many dining and shopping locations around Anderson. Individual tickets for plays are $15 Adults, $13 Seniors and $8 Students, while musicals cost $17 Adults, $15 Seniors and for $10 Students. More information can be found on www.ecplayhouse.com or by contacting the Box Office at (864) 224-4248.
